View Full Version : What happened yesterday
Me and Arc thought there was a virus in the forum, NOTE: THERE ISN'T! In any case, we shut down the forum in hopes of keeping the virus from spreading.
Deathspank just cleared it up for me and I apologize for the shut down. It was a judgement call that was wrong, and it was a rash decision.
This won't happen again. And I do apologize for any inconvenience.

I'm glad it was nothing serious.
Better safe than sorry, I suppose. :P

Sorry Sara, it's mostly my fault. It doesn't affect the forum at all, the bug goes after the user's hard drive... sorry again for misleading you.

Well,I think it was a smart desision. It's better to be safe then sorry. So,no worries!! No one's mad or anything. I was worried something bad happened. I'm glad everything is okay!
If it came up again, I would do it exactly the same without a second thought. I have no regrets in the way we handled it. Sara, do not appologize.

It's okay, Sara. No need for an aplogy. You did your job as an Admin and that is what you're supposed to do.

I was wondering what was up..=D
Thanks..I definately don't need a virus on my computer..
It shows you guys care..=D
That's all that matters.
I would rather have the forum off for a day or so as opposed to every active member here getting a virus. and i would also much rather have a false alarm than no alarm when there should be one (if that makes sense to anyone but me)

Thanks Sara for taking the caring decision. It's better take the safer option of temporarily closing the forum. You have nothing to apologise for. You did what's best and what was right. Thanks again.

Well better shut the forum down to be sure than to have everyone pick up a virus.
I feel the staff was in the right.

btw, something i'm wondering, what made u think there was a virus in the first place?
A member was complaining about a link appearing in his posts. Roxasvs.Riku and Arc thought it was a leech ad, leading to a virus coming through the site via those links and infecting them and damaging the forum. So we closed the forum.

Like I said before, the link led to a download file the attacked the user's hard drive. The bug was created to cause system crashes and boot failures. It was possible to still pick up the adware, but only by actually clicking on the infected link. The forum was never infected, only Xadllas (who I haven't seen since the incident...) appeared to pick up this nasty bug. I'm going to contact him to make sure he is ok... sorry again folks.

Sara, it is better to close down the forum for a little while than beeing unknowing what could have happen to the forum, you did the right decision.
You never know besides it is better to close a little while than members getting the virus and goes to the forum and then the forum cracks down.
Good decision (:
