See, I just got the KH COM manga today and I noticed these things. The manga is kinda diffrent from the game. Anyway, can someone answer these questions?

What? Riku does not have a sword. It's his Soul Eater keyblade.

I didn't know that. It doesn't really look like a keyblade, without the charm conected to the end and the key like look. That's why I thought it was a sword. :o

Thats not a keyblade. It was the sword he can create from darkness. It only becomes a keyblade in KH2.

Maleficent gave him the sword to fight Sora. He had it as early as the second Traverse Town visit in KH1.

The soul eater Keyblade, as said before, was a gift from Maleficent.

As for why Sora carries his keyblade on his back, I'm sure it is prolly because Shiro doesn't want to draw the effect of it materializing in his hand EVERY time he uses it. That would get kinda tiresome.

The Soul Eater is a Keyblade but it's desgined to look like a sword and it wasn't really a proper Keyblade, it had no Keychain on it so it was fake. He probably found the Way to Dawn Keychain in The Realm of Darkness or Twilight Town or maybe TWTNW, for the second one I don't know.

Yeah that's right soul eater is a normal weapon in the strictest sense no additional transformations or abilities just the darkness and such. Many seem to be confusing Riku's three weapons. Way to the dawn is a modification of soul eater (I assume) and the artificial keyblade when he was Ansem-ish is totally unrelated. I call it artificial 'cause it like dispersed into six hearts so I guess it wasn't a real keyblade to begin with.

Because his heart caused the transformation of his keyblade. That transformation didn't occur until sometime after LoD 2nd visit.

Actually I think when Xehanort/Ansem possesed Riku's body he got the soul Eater, but Riku mentions it as a Keyblade. Oh, unless it was created from all seven of the princesses of Heart. So what weapon was he using when you fought Parasite 1?

In one part of Traverse Town second visit, Riku and Sora fight off the Heartless together. I don't know what sword he was using there, but I'm pretty sure it looked like the Soul Eater.
