Not necessarily, they could amp up the sats and surround u with bad guys. I thought the last boss of KH2 would never end, it drove me mad. As it stands they're not so much difficult as they are tedious.

Well i like my theorie better. And well surrounding u with enemies and just having one boss is just an easier version. It would be over in minutes

Not just Square Enix, A LOT of games have multiple fights like that. :p It's a unique element in gameplay.

Yes, if you look at any current games generally there is more than one incarnation of the final boss. Seriously name any good game that has come out in the last few years and pretty much all of them will have multiple incarnations of the final boss. It's so that they can give you the felling of this guy is tough. Beating him once won't kill him. You have to iterally bash his head in over and over to even leave a scratch.

Let's see, Final Fantasy, Kingdom Hearts, .hack, Wild ARMS (Don't ask), Arc the Lad (Don't ask either), Fullmetal Alchemist, and many others do this.

It's probably suppose to make the last boss the most memorable cause you fight it a bunch of time. It's also probably supposed to make it harder, unlike some of the other bosses.
