iP- the only thing is that it just jumps from blue and red to dark red....if you smudged the colors a little bit more, it would've worked more....but that's just my opinion..

You have to create a new layer if you want it to be a transparent background. If you duplicate it, it will still be a white background. So, you have to create a new layer, then delete the background.

All I can say is this:
Improve on your skills and stop using the liquify effect. You make the effect look horrible.
Create Negative space, it is your friend.
Try not to put the gFlare over your focal point, and don't colour over it.
Improve a bit more, and then we can talk.

If you are gonna save it, save it as an .xcf first.

Even worse...
Again, try to add a gFlare and put it somewhere, then set it to overlay, to add a light source, but not to interrupt the focal area.
Better yet, try gradient tool and make it "FG to transparent" and then make a white scratch and then set THAT to overlay to create a light source.
