There has been something I have been studing lately and thats the problem with animal population. It seems that most animals (Wolves, seals, ect.) are being murdered for sport while here in humanity, the numbers of us are just growing. I think this is mostly from the stupidity and not-having-enough common sense of most of our leaders, any leader really. For example- Wolves in alaska are being aerial hunted. They are either shot or they run to death. 900 have already been killed. While on the other side you go to a city and thousands upon thousand of humans walk together and what do they do?

Nothing

I obviously think this is wrong, since these animals are kinda part of us to keep us living, I am just wondering if any one else thought it is a major defect in the world and it should be stoped.

i totally agree. especially because our population has doubled in the past like 50 years and the population growth rate is still increasing. it's just not right. i'm totally for animal protection but then again what about the animals that are bred and killed for consumption. it's really hard to try to protect animals while at the same time we kill them for food. don't you think?

I think you're right.

As stupid as it seems, no wolves = no deer.

Don't believe me?

Look at it this way, wolves keep the deer population down so that the poppulation won't get too big for the land to handle. If the wolves disappear, the poppulation will boom and then drop because they'd already eaten all food available, plus they're not the only ones eating grass. So those species will probally die out, too and who knows what'll happen from there.

I think we can't survive without all those animals, and if we keep killing them like this for no reason, we'll end up paying in the end. >.>

Killing the wolves is stupid as they control the strength of the deer herds by weeding out the weak sick ones, leaving the strong ones. The wolves help the deer herds stay strong and fit. Its wrong to upset the natural balance.

Actually, that's not the problem. We, humans, as omnivores do eat meat. Thus we eat animals. It's just like a wolf eating a deer. We have to eat too, don't we?

To protect endangered species is indeed difficult though. Because, there is no way to stop all poachers; however, I'm all for harsher punishment for them. ;) I can't stand when people hunt for sport... only for food. That's the only reason man should hunt.

Would you eat sick, dying, or wounded deer raw and immediently? It would take a while for carnivorous birds to do that. I don't think humans would.

No, I am not saying us eating meat is exactly like wolves eating deer. I was merely making a comparison. Comparisons do not need to be exact. That comment was meant to assist in making my point.

Those who kill wolves and other endangered animals should DIE
because they r morons M-O-R-O-N-S MORONS they don't realize that theyre killing off some of the animals that are considered some of the Keystone species the animals that hold everything together if one keystone specie goes extinct then it's whole enviornment will completely collapse here's something off of wikipedia:
A classic keystone species is a small predator that prevents a particular herbivorous species from eliminating dominant plant species. Since the prey numbers are low, the keystone predator numbers can be even lower and still be effective. Yet without the predators, the herbivorous prey would explode in numbers, wipe out the dominant plants, and dramatically alter the character of the ecosystem. The exact scenario changes in each example, but the central idea remains that through a chain of interactions, a non-abundant species has an outsized impact on ecosystem functions.

I may not be an environmentalist...but I agree that this is totally wrong.

I am very much in agreement with you, Hissora. I can't stand when people hunt for sport or personal gain. The only excuse I can see for hunting is for eating.

Our society needs to become more aware of the damage we cause every day to the animals and our environment. We seem to overlook the fact that we all coexist and are interdependant. This is definitely something that should be more concentrated on.

Yeah! We need to find a way...some way...to get this message across to people.
