View Full Version : Final Conclusion on Premium Membership

Due to the increasing number of premium members from abuse of the rep system, we have come up with a solution we all agree on. From this point on, you will be required to need both 1,000 posts and 50-70 rep points to recieve premium membership. You must also be a member here for atleast 3 months. We don't want to hear complaints on how this solution isn't "fair", because it's about as fair as it gets. I'm not going to point fingers, but I think you all realize that the system has been heavily abused over the last two weeks or so. Keep in mind that if you ask for rep, we will reduce your rep count to zero.

It's about time. In my eyes, there seemed to be a bit too many Premiums coming and I thought it was just normal (it probably is) but at least the cheaters wont be able to become premium without doing it the old fasion way. I say this is a fair disicion.

So, I have to ask, do you get two red blocks for being -100 etc.? Because that would be quite hilarious to see such a large number of red blocks on someone's profile.

Okay, I altered the promotion strategy in the control panel, RVR.

Anyone who now doesn't meet the new standards won't have premium anymore until they now reach it.

You need..
- 1000 posts
- 50+ rep
- 2 months membership (60 days)

I really like this idea. =D

But I have one question. Say if you have the rep and the 2 months, and then when you reach 1,000+ posts. Will your premship happen automatically, like it did before when you got 1000 posts, or do you have to ask the staff to switch it for you? :/

It never happened automatically. You have to inform a member of staff that you have reached the requirements for premium & they'll change you.

You guys can change the User Group requirements in the CP, go to the User Group Manager, then to your ID for Premium users. Then simply change the requirements to 1000 posts, and 50-70 karma, as well as a 90 day membership and it will automatically change them to Premium once they have achieved that.

I don't mind at all waiting and think it's fair. It gives something to work for though I am not really sure what it gives a person either other than a change in nick/name color and an extra block and color change to show who's been around longest and posts well. I do think it's a good idea though. If it does anything else, can someone say what please? I read through the posts and did not see a response to someone else inquiring about that.

Well, honestly I think it's a great idea. I don't think Premium should've been able to get accessed so easily in the first place. Members should have to work hard to get it (and now they do >DD)

If I gave a damn about being Premium, I'm sure this'd affect me and you'd be hearing an angry rant, but alas, nay! :D

Well... Let's see how this goes. I'm sure that from the activity of the forum it shouldn't take long for some members to get up to premium.

However, it's also require you be here for 2 months first. So that's like...1 premium every week or something if we get 1 average active member weekly.

Epic.

I was just thinking. I think having to get 50-70 rep points shouldn't be a requirement. I say this because what if a member who isn't very well liked reaches 1,000 posts, but has barely any, or no rep points? People could de-rep the member or rep the member, which almost makes it seem impossible to reach premium because he'd continue to be de-repped and then repped again. Ugh, it's hard making sense when you're bloody tired. -_-
