I just love this band. One of my favourites.

Shame about Tarja :( I wonder who will replace her, she was such a great singer, they won't be the same without her.

My favourites are: Dark Chest of Wonder, I Wish I Had An Angel, End of all Hope and Tenth Man Down

After the recording in the Hartwall Areena (Helsinki) on the 21st of October, 2005, of the new live DVD End of an Era (released June 2006), the four other members of Nightwish decided that it was best to continue Nightwish without Tarja Turunen,[10] a feeling they expressed through an open letter. This was due to the fact that they felt that her husband Marcelo Cabuli and commercial interests had changed her attitude towards the band. Tuomas Holopainen gave the letter to Turunen after the band ended the concert. The letter was later published on the band's website for all to see.

The replacement for Tarja Turunen has not yet been announced. Holopainen has repeatedly stated in interviews that Nightwish's new singer will be announced in 2006. He said that she will have to be talented, charismatic and in possession of a great deal of self-esteem.

Meanwhile, many sources on the Internet have already begun to speculate who Turunen's successor will be. On December 6, "Lady Angellyca" of the Spanish band Forever Slave issued a statement where she said that she was one of the strong candidates to fill the vacant role,[11] but the band itself has put up a message at their website which claims that the media who spread rumours about a new singer should not be believed.

Turunen has responded to the incident, saying that her dismissal came entirely as a shock to her. She felt that the personal attacks on her husband were unwarranted, and playing the issue out to the public was "senselessly cruel". Turunen was not consulted or spoken to before this letter was given to her.

Apparently she was too focused on her solo carrer, and at one point was going to cancel a gig so she can practise for her solo carrer. And she had never took part in the song writing or most things, she was just there to sing and that is it.

wonderful singing voice though.....I bet she'll have a successful solo career, if Gackt can do it I'm sure she can. Anyway back on to Nightwish, great band can't get enough of them.

My favorites song from them are: Wish I Han An Angel, End of All Hope, Kinslayer, Romanticide, and Nemo.

This band was the greatest band i have ever heard of that isnt My chemical romance..

I first discovered them while watching the infamous runescape massacre video on youtube and Planet Hell was playing..ever since then they have been nearly my favorite band..

Thats sounds like somethign a fanboy would say.

The singer, Tarja, is someone I don't like at all. I listened to their other music and her voice doesn't go with the music. They should be more like Trivium, and a guy should sing.

I'm a fan of her voice in the band, it adds something different. Her voice is what made Nightwish different by adding a more Opera feel to metal. Though a guy does sing in the odd song. like 'I wish I had an Angel'

They are not a band for everyone, you can say they are like Marmite.

I agree with that statement. I do love me some Marmite.

But, anyway, on-topic:

I like her voice on DCOW. Especially the chorus's at the end. But I don't find it suiting her in any of the other songs. They just sound... yucky.

Nightwish..they're just awesome. They've been my favorite band for two years now =D
My favorite songs are; Beauty and the Beast, Wishmaster, and The Siren. Can't wait for their new album to come out.

I love Nightwish so much. I got into them after I heard End of All Hope on a Final Fantasy AMV. Favorite songs are End of All Hope, Wish I Had an Angel and Nemo. I introduced the band to my friend and she's been obsessed ever since. She's been listening to their music so much that her parents are having nightmares

just a note. my post in the back was from my girlfriend. dont know how i missed it.

anyway, ill state my own opinion which is seperate. I dont like, or respect, much of the new stuff like Nemo, WIHAA and all that Once crap. They lost the style in the their music. If I had to choose my favourites, that would be the first three albums. They had much keyboard work and sounded all Powery like. The first album did kinda sound just a bit like Children of Bodom(like them cuz of the keyboardist) with the keyboard-guitar "duels". When Once came, even CC, I knew that something would go wrong. Now people are talking Nemo this, Nemo that. THAT is not what NW is about. I like symphonic metal, but not in NW.

NW is my favourite band. I have listened Nightwish last 3 years and its getting even better. Cause i live in finland, i have already their newest album, Dark Passion Play and its so awesome.

Ah yeah the album came out in Finland this week, but we get it a week later. D=

Though i've already heard the album, i'm still buying. I personally think it's a masterpiece, vocals might of changed but it's still very Nightwish and they have really taken themselves to a new level.

lol.. Not really. Maybe you could listen to some of their older stuff, cos frankly they suck now that the original lead singer Tarja is gone. Anette is сrap.

Similar stlye of paper, but Nightwish go much further and create something much different to the mainstreamness of Evanscence. One of the bands that kind of started the trend.

Eh not that bad of a band, not my first choice, but I like them when I am in the right mood i guess.
