I was just in there and it looked really messy and unorganized. So I suggest that we should just have one sticky where someone will post a request, then anyone who wants to can take it. Then, after whoever took the request is done making it, they'll just PM it to the person who requested it and we'll delete the request post.

If you can understand what I just said, what's you opinion...?

Rosey

I agree. :/

A request thread, and then the normal shops, not the requests all over the place.

I love this idea. Go for it.

Misty
09-23-2007, 02:45 PM
I meant just kind of having one thread and none of those personal shops. They're really confusing, IMO.

But thanks for the input. ;D

Rosey
09-23-2007, 02:47 PM
That works to, lol. But then what would be the point of having a giant section no? xD

Hummm, but if you want one specfic person to take it, thats why I think there are graphic shops, but you could just PM the person asking them :/

Misty
09-23-2007, 02:52 PM
Exactly.

Also, I remember when I had a sig shop, people were overwhelming me with requests. I had to close it down because one person can't do ten at a time. If we do it this time, one person doesn't have to be obligated to doing every single request; other people will be there.

And yes, like you said, if they want a particular person to do it then they can just PM them.

Rosey
09-23-2007, 02:53 PM
Then I say go for it. But then we dont need the big forum, so we could merge it in with another one.

Misty
09-23-2007, 03:03 PM
mmkays.

now I just need more people to agree. I don't think Sara would be too happy with me if I just deleted an entire sub-forum with the backup of one member.

I don't know. Taking the request posts away? Pages will get lower'd=hits.

We can try to organize it come otherr way ;3

Misty
09-23-2007, 03:08 PM
By all means, suggest another way. This is just the best way I could think of.

Rosey
09-23-2007, 03:12 PM
But I do have to say, that thread would be IMPOSSIBLE to muddle though >.<

So maybe we should have different threads, such as Signatures, Avatars, GIF's...so that one doesnt get to cluttered.

Misty
09-23-2007, 03:13 PM
I like that idea, but I think we should delete posts after the requests are finished.

Rosey
09-23-2007, 03:15 PM
Yes, but then peoples post counts would drop.

Tremendously.

Misty
09-23-2007, 03:16 PM
... and? xD

Post counts really aren't a big deal to me.

Rosey
09-23-2007, 03:19 PM
I know it doesnt really pertain to me, because I dont post there, but for members trying to reach premium, and who own a graphic shop, its a good way to get posts, rep, and sigs out there :/

Misty
09-23-2007, 03:24 PM
I guess we could lock them after a while and start a new one.

Rosey
09-23-2007, 03:26 PM
That true, kind of like the Signature of the week. Just let it die >3

But I still think if we just have ONE thread, it will be impossible. I think we should split it up into different types.

Sorax

I say it's a good idea

Having all requests in one thread/section in the arts and graphics section of course

as for post count, I agree, it's the fastest way to take up posts, I think post count shouldn't be counted in there.

Rosey
09-23-2007, 03:58 PM
@ Sorax: Or that could work too xD

But it would only have to be in that one section, cause the rest of the sections for A & G should probably still have posts :/

Misty
09-23-2007, 04:14 PM
I think posts should count. If the person isn't kind enough to rep, the person that did the request should at least get some kind of reward.

And I like Rosey's idea of separating it into Avatars, Sigs, Gifs, etc.

hmmmm..I guess you make a strong point about posts

as well as sections, so I guess this would work out pretty well

*Reads everything twice* I don't get it. I think your saying PMs for sigs should as rep?

Rosey
09-23-2007, 04:32 PM
@ Sofa: No. We were thinking about making all the requests and shops in to one big thread ( or sections). So that a person would ask for something, and then anyone who looked at it could. But if they wanted one specific person to do it, then they could PM the person. And posts count, so that if they dont rep you, you still get the post ~

this is how it'll work:

Jimmy wants a sig. He goes into the thread called 'Signature Request Thread' and fills out the template. Bob says "I'm going to do a request!" Bob goes into the Signature Request thread and says "Oh look. Jimmy put up a sig request. I'm going to do it!" Bob completes Jimmy's request and posts it in the thread.

Let's say Jimmy hates Bob's style and wanted Jane to do it. Jimmy would PM Jane and she could do it for him.

And that is an example to prove that it might actually work

*head explodes from confusion*

Nah, i think it's a good idea. Means people's request shouldn't get burried under all these shops.

What I meant is, not to be harsh or anything, be there's a lot of untalented sig makers out there.
And if random people do the requests and most of them turns out ****ty than I'd just go "wow" <_<

Anyway, I'm all for this now.
It's a good idea.
And it just means less work for some people.

Misty
09-23-2007, 05:23 PM
well yes, there are some bad sig makers, but if they don't like the sig they just pm a good sig maker.

La Sofa

I dunno this is getting confusing. I think the sig shops are good they way they are.

I agree with that. Making sections like that will be easier.

I have a suggestion...well two of them that could tie in with this one.

One is that you should have to provide some of your graphic examples to a moderator, or someone who knows a thing or two about graphics. This would prevent your average joe member from making a shop to pad their post count and making (pardon this) ****ty sigs based on templates or basically using the same graphic effect for 5+ sigs/avvys.

The second thing is the idea of 'classes'. Say they're basically levels. You can make a topic with a sig and add [class] somewhere in it if you want to be classed. More experienced designers can class from levels like beginner, intermediate, pro, etc. Then you can make a requirement of what classes are NOT allowed to make a shop. The more experienced designers can probably be higher classed designers, graphic mods, etc.

Misty
09-23-2007, 09:48 PM
Both of those sound really biased. It's someone's fault if they go to someone who doesn't make very good sigs.

That will 'cause MUCH hysteria and confusion. People often make a sig without stating so, and other people do it, and it makes people feel bad because of how hard they [might have] worked.

I think we should just keep it to the "they make their own shop system", just because that way everyone can run their shop, their way.

Eh. D:

09-24-2007, 02:05 AM
Well then, if that doesnt work, then can we at least have all the requests in one thread??? It clutters up the whole section -.-

Well, what do you expect?

People will make shop threads, and they will accumulate over time.

I think Fox's idea is good. Signatures are already biased anyways since most people already have someone in mind when wantng a signature. That's why some shops thrive and and some get swept away. But if you dont like her idea, I guess you can just go with the one thread and them making their request using the template. But to solve the problem of having to PM a person when you dont like it, you can just tell them to specify whether they want a certain person to make it so they dont have to wait for tons of people to do the signature before getting a good one. Then once the person sees the request, they can tell the poster to edit the post to say that it's taken.

I think it may be confusing for people trying to get a tag if its in a thread, maybe a sub section of threads someone can post if they want a tag.

I'm against this (and I mean really against this one). I like all the shops, it lets me know who to go to, who has what skill, who can do what, who can't do what I want, etc. I notice alot of n00b shops and I avoid them if we just had a sticky where anyone could answer my request I may never be able to get a good damn sig...

Should this be in the "Suggestion" forum?

Forget what I just said...Didn't read the forum right...Thought I was in Graphics...

Back on topic.
I like the idea.

I don't agree with this. =/ Having requests in one thread and shops outside of it is a good idea though.

We tried that before, it never worked out. It's a good idea, but it doesn't work.

I'd go with the class idea. Just for being classed. I mean, how hard can it get? You make a new topic in the gfx topic saying the classes. And make a topic asking to be classed according to the ranks.

Misty
09-25-2007, 01:28 AM
Well since my original idea was denied by two admins, I guess we'll drop it. xD

But I like Split's idea (above), even though it is biased.
