I think if u make a thread u should be able to deleat posts or edit them...

No. It could lead to bad things such as flame wars because if someone deletes a post they don't like, they are taking away their right to post and not letting them express their opinions.
Plus, if anyone were to make a thread with that power, it could become a biased thread.
