I say we add some stuff to promote gfx since there are basically no users in this site who are actually into it.

A reason why I think most users don't even bother with gfx/SOTW is because they may feel intimidated by the more experienced people and don't even bother to make something because they feel why should they bother when they may lose. They don't understand that SOTW is there for people to get better at gfx and to share ideas.

I say we have two seperate SOTW. One for beginners and another for more experienced users. We would seperate designers by a class so people can tell which SOTW they belong in. I guess 2 or 3 experienced gfx users can decide who goes where. And we'd obviously be able to tell by a persons' sig entry whether they fall under either category in case somebody is thinking this as they read this.

Maybe do other things to expand the arts/gfx section so it can become more of a community for gfx users, new and old. If anybody else has any other ideas also feel free to say them. I'm going to go have some pie right now, I'll be back with more ideas if people post.

Discuss?

I personally love this idea, the GFX section needs to be dusted off and be revamped to get more people comming, in reality, anyone can become a sig maker, most people are just intimidated. Nice idea. ;D

I highly disagree with that. ._. As a graphics artist (and a former runner of SOTW), by separating it you are only promoting the intimidation. The reason being is because if you're a newb at gfx, go into beginners, the intimidation gets even HIGHER when you go into the "experienced" SotW. Also, SotW is a group event, separating it is like separating red from red....it wouldn't make too much sense...? *doesn't know if that made sense*

Again, I kind of don't agree that kind of classification. Having classes or judges to tell you what your skill level is (according to khv) would work... but that, probably not. Especially pertaining to SotW.

Making it a community-kind of place would be integrating it more, not separating. o.o What I mean is: inspiring people to do gfx, and inspire them to want help from their fellow members.

I have an idea; form a panel of judges that class members according to khv standards. BUT, we should only do that once we get more gfx users around (like 10+ advanced sig makers/designers). That's my only other idea...

Darky speaks the truth.

And there are plenty of new sig makers now, And there may be a lack of participation in SoTW because people may not like the themes. That's usually why I don't participate. Besides, this sounds a bit biased to me.

Misty, tell me the next theme then. I'll be sure to put it up.

I go with most of these ideas, and I highly support the gfx classes. I've been supporting that for a while and never made a thread about it. There's many designers already, we need like 3 really good designers to judge everyone.

I have to agree with this idea, I even thinked about that some time ago, we really need more people, they only think I hope is that I am in the experienced GFX list >.<.

And I know that by experience, in the start, it took like a entire day to make one sig, I thought I would never be able to do what I can in this moment, when I maded that Terra sig, is like I give that step that I needed to advance.

Once the GFX community expands a bit more or some more members show interest in it I would say yes, but not at the moment. Not many members seem to keen on it.
