As most people would know there are alot of swear/cuss words.

Im not going to list them all because....well duh.

Anyway are they offensive to you?

Why or why not?

They aren't offensive to me because its just a word, it never hurt anyone.

Milder cussing doesn't bother me, but stronger swearwords do, especially when they come from little kids.

Nah, they don't offend me in the least. If someone attemps to insult me by cursing, I just give them an uncaring look, and they shut up and go away. :D

Yeah, but I don't mind the small talk. Strong language, that's what ticks me off.

I haven't much of a problem with swearing.

I don't mind pretty much any word, since I'm not literal about everything, I could care less.

It's just that sometimes some people need to stop using them in a negative standing point.

In my opinion, it's just a way to add more expression or literacy to something.

Example: "Shut up!"

Example 2: "Shut the **** up!

lol...

Nope, I don't find it offensive at all. If some random person walks up to me and says "**** you!" -- I just give 'em a nasty look and say "screw off," it's just a way to intimidate someone in my eyes. The "walk away" thing never works. But on to the point, I think cursing is a way of seeming agressive towards someone. Sometimes I actually curse back, I never do it randomly or to start a fight though. Just in a sorta defensive way though.

Oh yeah and on the internet? It's a piece of TEXT. I could be flamed to death with curses and not care.

...and yeah. That's about it. :D

No they do not offend me.

it kinda depends.... usually they Rn't, but if somebody's bein a complete jerk or annoying, then they do offend me/get on my nerves..... other than that, they're just words... i mean, callin somebody a b**** would probably B only as offensive as airhead or somethin

No cus there just words and some of them like Bugger (my family keep telling me off for saying that) don't even seems like cuss words. eg. when I say bugger and I get told off I say
"What it's only 'Bug' and 'er' put together" see what I mean?

Also when I swear it just saves me time saying what i mean in full e.g When I say F*** off what i really mean is
"Go away and leave me along"
Also when I say S**t what I mean is
"Aww man I can't belive that has just happened"

So in all there just words

The fact is, they ARE just words.

A few have been around since the middle ages in fact. Many people beleive they were used by evil witches to curse those around them. Hence "curse" words.

When the witch craze died down and the black plague ened, most people started usuing them as a way to explain anger. However most people were offended about supposedly being "cursed".

As the centuries went by we got more and more words, and people became less worrried about them.

Most people today aren't too offended, however the ones who are make too big a deal about it.

Swear words are given power by those who are offended by them. If people sat back and realized they're just words, then that's what they become. I think that more people would use them this way, but actually a lot less frequently.

But the world is all ****ing ****faced and completely retarded, so that'll probobly never ****ing happen...asses...>.>

Make up your mind!

You're all rambling on about nothing!

"I think some swear words are good... but others are not."

Are swear words offensive toy ou or not?

As for me... I swear all the time. I could care less if they offend me. I swear at the most trivial things, too, like... I dunno, dropping a pencil. It's just habit.

The C-word referring to a lady part offends me. Other than that, the words themselves don't offend me unless the person saying them means badly.

swear words do not offend me because they are just words, and sometimes they are even said in a friendly, joking way.

sometimes i can get offended when someone swears at me in a violent and crude way, but the words are not what offends me, rather the attitude and behavior of the person saying them.

so no. theyre words.... like the ones im typing down right now.

It kinda depends. I mean, cuss words in general don't offend me at all, but when it's pushing it to the limit and it's directed to insulting me pretty bad, then I throw a fit.

Mish

Generally, swears don't offend me. But you get people who think they're cool just because they swear in every sentence. >.>

And most of the time swears are said in a way that is meant to be offense. Like 'fsck off' or 'I don't give a fsck what you think'. :/

Swearing is so common these days they have lost all meaning, and are used alot out of context, which if you say what the words means in the sentence it makes no sense what so ever.

I personally don't find them offensive, we all say them, you can tell someone to "**** off" and they would care and will just act like they would if someone said "Go away."

I just find it annoying when people say it when there is no need for it to be said. To people it's a way of saying "Look at me i'm cool and adult because i'm swearing."

Couldn't agree more. It's not the word itself that makes them offensive, but the meaning behind them. I don't care if my friend is telling me something about their day and throw in a casual "****", "crap", "***" or any other profantities in there. It's when people throw them at me like they really want it to hurt, sort of chew up the word and spit it out on your face, you know? That's when it gets offensive.

Afterall, it's not the way the the first letter alines with the "uck" that makes gives the word such a negative stigma to it. If that was the case, my own name, "Lucky", would be a cursive word in its self. And that would just suck. :P

I hear all kinds of stuff at school and I can say I do take part in some cussing(sometimes more than others ^_^)... but I feel like high school kids just dont understand because some of my friends say stuff like "WHERE THE **** HAVE YOU BEEN ALL DAY!?!!?!" and they come running in for like a hug and laugh ans stuff.... but if I said that to like say my mom or something she would probably slap me! Personally, cussing doesn't affect me (I actually like it when used at appropriate times while playing video games ;D) I would never cuss in front of my parents or like little kids or something, but around kids my age its just another exclamation word like saying OMG on the internet.

OH and my view on cussing on the internet, only when its used to start ticking off a loser who's being a jerk ^^ oooor when your using it to say something soo totally amazing (most likely about kh lol)

Some cuss words offend me but not all of them...the "F" Word offends me a lot if it is used casually...if a person is hurt or something badly...then I might allow it...but calling someone a son of a _____ is just rude!

i don't mind them......if they come from adults, but from kids...then i get offended.
cuz i think only adults should say them...and kids never should say the big curse words....like the "F" word for example.....thats just my opinion....

Cuss words do not offend me in anyway. Those words are very ineffective. But if someone says something that hurts you from the inside...and it includes a cuss word...then it's REALLY hurts. That's when I get very serious...and let's just say...you don't want to see that person once I'm finished with them.

I don't consider it harsh. Especially when people do the same thing OVER AND OVER. I gets annoying. Then...that's when I decide...THAT'S ENOUGH.
Tip #1: Never...piss off an Asian person. ESPECIALLY when that person is able to turn ANYTHING into a deadly weapon.

-Edit- Just so you didn't know, I AM Asian.

For me, it's not the words that offend me. It's the context of the words and how they are used.

It doesn't matter if someone who insults you swears or not. If they say something hurtful, you'll know it, no matter what words they used. I mean, what's the difference between someone yelling "I HATE YOU, YOU ****ING *******!!!" as compared to someone yelling "I HATE YOU, YOU STUPID POOPYHEAD!!!" The answer is: there's really no difference. The person is expressing distaste towards you. You can probably tell from the tone of their voice that they don't like you, not just the words they say. The words are just gift wrap for the lovely gift of hate the person is expressing towards you.

Of course, i will say that it's just stupid to swaer around little kids.

Being in high school, you hear almost every swear word like, every day. After hearing all the crap, I've gotten used to it, and it really doesn't bother me. XD

I'm not offended by them, but I don't use them because they are a cheap way of expressing yourself, I mean any moron could go (insert bad word here) you.
I mean they are overused and now plain pointless.
But that is just my opinion...

I don't mind swear words or consider them 'swear' words for the most part. I don't really like racist rude words though or when someone is using cuss words directed at a person specifically. Mostly though I just ignore it as I say cuss words myself in jokes or if I'm angry. I just use them how I feel conveys the message and try to not say them in ways that totally cut someone down.

Someone also mentioned above the old argument I've had with so many people about the difference between calling someone a 'poopie head' or some other sort of name rather than using the 'swear' words. To me it is also the same thing.

I have to admit before I turned Christain I was swearing all the time and one of my friends couldn't stand it and then another one of them said they wouldn't speak to me for the rest of the day if I swore infront of her again. It was funny. I don't anym ore. When people insult me using them when they are serious then I get offended but not otherwise.
