XD Pretty self-explanatory... Come on, you know you've read at least ONE really good book for school or something.
Mine would be Romeo and Juliet, Lord of the Flies, or Walk Two Moons. Romeo and Juliet is pretty hard to understand, but I think it's really good. X3 I didn't like LotF at first, but as it got more interesting I understood it better and really got into it. Walk Two Moons... I read that in sixth grade. XD; It wasn't very hard, but it was goooood...

I liked "Relatos de un Naufrago" by Gabriel García Marquez. I read it in 8th grade for spanish class. The story was really interesting. Also, I liked The Secret Garden and "El niño que enloqueció de amor" ( The boy that become crazy by love), that is a very sad book.

I usually enjoy reading all the books read for school classes. The most recent one that I really look a liking to was called A.D. 62: Pompeii. I had to do it for my Latin class and reading the title I thought it would be extremely boring. In the end I was hoping for a sequel, but no such book exists.

And..BUMP.
I don't read the novels for assignments because I'm kind of lazy that I just rent the movie .-.
But I decided to break my "tradition" and read "Romeo and Juliet" in 10th grade and I really liked it.
I almost cried and all in the classroom xD;;

Of Mice and Men.
I think I actually did pretty good in reading it all xD I mean, for someone who hates books as much as me, twas a miracle xP ..I only did it cos I was forced to, by the by >_>
Anyway, yah. I loved Lenny's character in that book x3 He was just like a big, dumb kid. Everyone (even his best friend) called him a retard and stuff. He was so naive! :D ..though kinda crazy o_O There's a part where he says he likes this beautiful womans hair, and she asks if he wants to stroke it, so he does and he's all like, "it's so soft 8D" then she tells him to stop 'cos he'll mess it up, but he grabs her hair, she gets distressed and starts screaming and he's like, "STOP SCREAMIN'" and grabs her head and jaw, and breaks her neck <_> We watched the film adaption, too. That made it all the more creepy xD
The ending was quite sad, but I'm not into all that soppy crap xP lol, BAWWWW.
^ SAME D:
My favourite was George, though. Since he tolerated Lenny and kind of let Lenny mooch off him. How gallant. >: It was funny when we were reading it in class - at the end, practically everyone was crying. XD You'll be feedin' rabbits in heaven now, Lenny! ;3;
We watched the film too.. omg Gary Sinise and John Malkovich! o: yepyepyep.
We had to read a really great book called Fever.
It was so emotional it actually put our teacher in tears when she read it, and half the class as well.

That Was Then, This Is Now. Awesome book it was. I read it in two days. Weird ending though. I'm surprised they actually gave it as a 6th grade book it contained quiet a few swear like ******* and to some extent of a graphic death. It was a great book, however.

Worst: Romeo and Juliet - Horrible love story. Just..horrible. The symbols by this point in time are dramatically overused and the whole them getting together as a symbol of life and death just made me want to vomit. Plus, all they wanted to do was have sex. Not love, lust. >:
Best: Lord of the Flies - Regardless if the story itself was pretty cliché, the fact it was about kids was great.
"A MODEST PROPOSAL" by swift
a very interesting book... and disturbing... lol
Favorite: "The Odyssey"
Amazing story, thousands of years old, but still well-developed. One of the most favorite stories I've ever read.

Of all the books I've read over the years it was Night.
It's such a short and simple read but the book speaks volumes to you of what happened to the author in Nazi Germany. It's a real tough book to read but it's one of the most meaningful books I've read for an assignment.

"Thirsty", and runner up was "Theories of Relativity"
Thirsty really appealed to my taste of reading, even though I barely read, and Theories was unintentionally funny, and had a lot of sexual references that made me keep reading.

My favorite book that I've HAD to read was And then there were none. It scared the hell out of me but it was just so well thought out and good. At the end of it all I could say was damn.
"The Outsiders", "Holes", and I guess "Slaughterhouse Five". S5 was a little confusing at first, but I got used to the author's style, and it was pretty good.

I've seen many wonderful books mentioned here. The Crucible and The Giver are amazing works of genius.
My favourite literary authour growing up was Nathaniel Hawthorne followed by Charles ****ens. The way Hawthorne conveys the messages in his stories is absolutely amazing to me. He uses illusions, symbolisms, and plenty of similes and metaphores, so much so that the simplistic story he appears to be weaving really is a cover over the deeper and more absolute feelings and truths. I adore Young Gooman Brown and The Scarlet Letter.
****ens has a way of making his realistic characters and dialogues capture your heart. Oftentimes his characters are very plain, normal individuals living in a world that is alive and thick with pressures. You will find his characters not only battling the environments, but with themselves: an inner conflict. He is truely a superb authour.
I really enjoy Edgar Allen Poe's dark tales as well. They are very crafty!
Another book I really remember well is Lord of the Flies. I'm not too keen on remembering the authour's name, but his theme of civilization and the demoralization of humanity is very vividly brought to life through that work.
Those are a few of my favourite authours and books that are introduced in a school environment.
