An 11-year-old boy demonstrated The Force when he defended his mom by hitting an attacker with a toy lightsaber.

The man, in his 30s, fled after being confronted by the youngster outside a bakery in Swardeston, near Norwich, England.

Police said the boy hit the man with his toy after the man had punched and verbally abused his mother as she approached her car.

Officers are appealing for witnesses to the Dec. 22 attack.

Allan Jennings of the Norfolk Police said: "The incident caused quite a commotion and it is unlikely it would have gone unnoticed."

That is....

really kind of awesome. And funny. I mean, not the attack was funny, but a LIGHTSABER. A toy lightsaber, at that.

That was pretty smart of that kid, because who's going to miss a glowing stick and a lot of loud noise? No one. Someone's going to come look, and the attacker would have been caught.

After hearing this, I think that a toy lightsaber could be a pretty good weapon.The "blade" folds, so it's conceilable, and apparently, it can injure a 30 year-old man, so it works.

Interesting....... >=D

That's awesome. What a good, brave kid, eh? I like that there are still some people with enough courage to protect the people they care for. I find it more amazing that it was a toy lightsaber that he used, too, because it scared away a guy a lot bigger than him. Cool! ^^

lol, now we have a way of dealing with violence in so many places, such as schools. Forget the knives and guns. Take a plastic noise making lightsaber to school and it can cope with the major menaces.

I would guess he poked the guy somewhere rather painful or the noise and all and surprise made the guy realize he was compromised and couldn't just hit the woman or there were witnesses that time. Any way though, I'm so glad the child wasn't hurt and the attacker was sent running. As others have said, brave kid!

A kid defends his mother with a toy lightsaber and gets a news story.

I defend my father with a plastic Tessaiga and don't get jack.

COME ON.

Although, I do admire the kid xD

Uhm, as ridic as this story is, all I can say is good for him! Averted a possible confrontation. Bet his mom feels very lucky to have him around :)

Wasn't there a story similar to this one a few months back? But the first time I heard it it was a kid dressed up as a red power ranger who chased out the burgular from his home. XD

Okay, there's only one thing that would make this story perfect: If the kid used the Force-lightning on the guy as well.

Seriously, wow. We should equip the police force with similar weapons if a kid can make a lightsaber that effective!

That is a brave kid. I don't many kids that could do something like that. This story does teach a lesson, always carry a lightsaber ^^

Heck, I'd do it, If my mom was ever attacked. Not with a toy lightsaber, though. A bokken training sword lol. I have a question, though;

Why did the kid have a lightsaber in front of a bakery?
