Bigger file size for avatars?

The 24kb limit really hinders some people with avatars. I say we bump it up to 30 or 35 so that way we don't have to down-scale our wonderous avatars to crap. That way people who make their own avatars aren't limited to this. I swear I've made a ton of avatars and they were just a few kb over 24 and it pisses me off because when you down-scale it the quality diminishes.

Also I say only Premiums should get this so that way if a certain somebody is worried about people all having 30kb avatars. That way there won't be any problems with connection speed. If all the premmies had a 30kb avy it wouldn't affect anybody at all. Though somebody with a computer that takes forever to load shouldn't even be on the internet anyway <_<

I like this. Besides why should my expression have to suffer just because people have shoddy connections that result in slower loading times?

I think a minimal increase would be a good idea but having it be too much would not be right as it would slow down people on dial up. Also, the 'size' of the avatar seems fine to me as it is. It gets annoying when people make avatars too big, but some of us would like to spruce up our avatars but cannot because of the limit.

The avi's are just the right size...

Ive seen sights where peope have Avi's the size of 1/4th the screen, and animated. I've been to other sites which only allow 50x50 jpeg...

This is the moderate between the two extreams.

@ICSP/Repliku: I meant the size as in memory. the 130x130(for premmies. Don't know what it is for regs) rule is fine. It's just that some people are restricted with avatars because of the file size is greater than 24kb and it's really a pain since downsizing avatars ruins the quality.

I like the whole avatar file size upgrade thing. It sounds good. Though, I'm pretty sure you're gonna have to pay for Premium. Uumm....some people won't have the kind of money to spend on a premium deal. That and why should they? But that's just me.

How many people are actually limited by the file size?

I never had issues with it. I mean, unless you want to put the "Lets build a catapult!" GIF as an avi, I dont think file size is an issue.

I have had a few problems with mine, and if it was just for premmies then I don't think it would be so bad consider it another goal to becoming premium. And that shouldn't make peoples load times to take forever.

Premium members have almost NO extras. The best part is seriously the colored name.

I tried adding a border to my avvy, and it turns out to be 19.6 kb.
DENIED.

Atm, no to bigger avatar for normal members. Premiums just got the size raised a little for them so. Work to get premium, and you get to have bigger avatars ;D
