..Wow. This is pathetic. Do you know howl ittle a minute is? Go post, or better yet, type more in your PM's so it isn't just a random one lined piece of sh*t PM that no one wants to see when checknig there PM's.

Can i suggest we cut the time in between PM's to 30 seconds instead of 1 minute, like Posting?

It gets in the way for me sometimes and i'm sure for others too...

That would be nice and I see nothing wrong with it.

I agree with it and think it's a good idea

i don't think it would do any damage to the site whatsoever ^^

I looked in the list of "Rejected Suggestions" and i didn't see it... I searched it too but didn't find anything...

This would help speed up my convos with the people that I have no other way of contacting~ I dont see why there's such a long wait in the first place.

It isn't a bad idea. The only reason it may be set to a minute if it can be changed here is because of the flooding potential which does bog down the board. It may be something that has to be in place but that would be the reason why. Too much action like that can slow the board down.

It gets in the way for me sometimes and i'm sure for others too... The 60 second waiting time's purpose is to prevent leechers and bots/advertisers from mass PMing, one after the other.

If anything it should be higher than 60 seconds, so in a way we're kind of lucky to have that.

I don't think we should lower it. I realize it would be better for us, since most of us (even me) PM a lot. But it has its other reasons as well.

Ahh, i see now...
But they can like send those up to 5 ppl at a time, so they shouldn't be able to do it individually.

Yes, but they do it twice as fast with a 30 second timer rather than a minute.

Do you see what I mean? lol

And like Repliku said, if it's twice as fast, it slows down the forum a little. Especially if many people are PMing in such a short period of time.

Repliku
07-08-2008, 11:50 AM
Yeah, really if you think about it, a minute to wait to send PMs is kind of a way to provide for our safety and not having to get lamer messages to droves of people in short amounts of time. The bots or someone being ornery could take more advantage of that so sometimes you just have to compromise so that the board is kept safe and free from those kinds of things.

Darkwatch and Repliku speak the truth. As for Crono's point, if the people can't seem to wait a mere sixty seconds, they should just go onto MSN or something.

I really don't see the need, if you need to send another PM in less than 60 seconds and it's short enough that the time waiting hinders your plan, you seriously need to get IM's, since those just seem like a waste of space PM

a reply like "lol"

should be taken to a damn IM, if one of the two people don't have one, ffs get it, 21st centuary n'all.

Well if it slows down the forum then I guess not.

Also it's not my fault that I can't get IM. My sister got my computer infected with a virus and my dad cleaned off my computer and blocked AOL with a firewall. And IMVU is ghey.

I wouldn't want it anyway. Non of my friends use it because well since I go to a Christian school do I even have to say it...

Quoted for truthiness.

Also, you're too impatient to wait a *minute* to send PM's to someone? Browse another website, watch a Youtube video, get up from the computer and go outside? *GASP*

Anyway, if you're too impatient, take it to MSN or some other instant messenger. Or you know...think about going outside.

also christians are against technology these days? Lol i'm not religious so using it as an excuse is pointless when explaining something to me.

Yeah... I don't see why people sending more then one pm within a minute in the first place. If you are chatting through pms, I'd assume it would take you a minute between hitting "Reply", actually typing out a decent sentence or two, and hitting "submit message".

Also like DarkWatch said, the bots are an issue... though it's a rare occurrence, you never know.

After I typed my post I saw MSN so that could work. Also it's not that Christians are against technology it's that some times people don't take time to check out certain aspects of it and they think that if their child uses it someone will come steal them and stuff like that.

Yeah I know it's stupid but it's true.

Agreed 100%

The wait time is there so we don't get bots flooding around ads. This is a popular site, bots do try to advertise here. A minute isn't that long at all, why don't you put some effort into typing the next PM so it isn't so short it's worthless. Or if that doesn't work, we have this special feature for you all called a forum. It's meant to not only waste time, but kill your time all together and you can use it to kill one measily wittle minute. You're gonna love it!!

1 minute is too long in my opinion. I sometimes have 4 or 5 pm conversations going on at the same time. I find myself frustrated that I can't keep up... and often waste a lot of time to have a conversation...

Can it be shortened please? 30 seconds should be good... and that is also the limit on post.

Thanks for listening.

Though I don't have nearly as many PM convos as I'd like to have, the limit still bugs me.

Why is it even so long in the first place?

Ghillie in the Mist

I would like it to be around 15 seconds. Please staff...

Why is it even so long in the first place?

It's like that so bots and trolls have a harder time invading our PM system and annoying the hell out of all of us.

THAT'S why the time limit is there.

Trolls and bots tend to go for posts a lot more than PM's...

And also for the fact that you can't double-PM anyone in like 2 seconds becouse you accidentally pressed the send button more than once. That's happened to me.

Well, couldn't they just post? It takes 30 seconds a post, and more people will see the post than a PM. Also, if someone is spamming PM's just ban them. I think the PM minute should be equal to the post limit. I would honestly rather it be shorter, but I understand its unreasonable. I want that overturned... 1 minute is way to long.

It won't be happening more than likely because it is there for a security reason. This is why a lot of members use MSN to chat. It takes less time and people have no lag time between messages. I'd suggest that route if there's a desire for faster private talk.

1) It has been suggested before and denied.

2) There are damn good reasons why the time wont be being changed that have all been listed here, such as trolls and bots. Think about it, if someone does spam PMs and we reduce the time down that is twice as many people that can be affected. Also you guys get mad enough when the site runs slow as it is, so why make it worse?

3) If you don't have MSN or an IMservice you can use Meebo. It is a great site and allows you to talk to your friends.

Yes I know some of you have an issue with waiting 60 seconds, but I'm sorry you will have to deal with it because we wont be reducing the time down. Sorry, but no.
