Language Forum ?

I know this may seem a little out of the blue, but i was wondering if there could be some sort of Language Forum? This would be a great opportunity for some to learn about another culture and learn how to speak another certain language :3

I'm in for it. Any old translator might tell u specific words and such, but they can never replace people. Combining those two would be quite deadly. ^_^

The only downside would probably be privacy in some way...but hey, things don get anymore private than this.

i know how to do that, but for one letter. é

it' easy, just Alt button and 1,3,0. it takes a little while for it to pop up thought.

And some things don't directly translate from english to another language and vice-versa. You get a more acurate translation from someone who knows the language than an online robot.

At the moment however we're trying to reoganize the forum a bit so their isn't a mass amount of sections, another one would go against that, so I'll get back to this one, until then I'll leave it open for people to comment on. If people are for it, then I say go for it.

But yeah, the language tool is good too. Like whenever you go on japanese websites, you can just highlight the text and translate it. I understand what you mean now, but it is a useful tool.

well, some people don't have other language and culture classes as an option... my school only teaches english to those who speak other languages at home... we don't have a chance to learn spanish, japanese, or anything like that. And in social studies class we only focus on American history and culture, so we don't learn about other countries at all... and most translators out there aren't even correct... >>

no... this site is MAINLY meant for KH fans to go crazy about the games and to get updated about the series... and sure, you can simpily chat with other people. But if that was all it was meant for, then why is there a role playing arena and an intelligent discussion section? :3 I'm sure people would use this all the time XD

Actually, I personally don't want a culture section. Language is fine, but not culture. Just like religion, many people fight over whichever is the best or prettiest culture.

Any forum section can easily cause arguments, we just need to keep it at bay. Plus, folk will jusy be asking questions, and stating facts about their culture. I really don't see how folk could flame unless they were just bein' arrogant.

I think we should give people the chance to teach each other about their cultures, if anything it could help to actually lower arguments. Ignorance being a key factor in fights afterall.

Hmm...this is an interesting proposal and I would be behind it 100%. I'm always one to enjoying learning about different cultures and traditions, and have been taking Italian for a few years.

This suggestion gets the Destined seal of approval....if that counts for anything.

I absolutely love the suggestion for a culture forum. I know that a forum made for games isn't meant to be educational in the first place, but I see no harm in learning more about other countries and their history. Which is best told by the ones who actually live in said country. When I was in school we weren't tought that much about things that matters when concerning other countries, and I have always been interested in learning more about people's ways.

It's like what has been mentioned already, if a fight breaks out it will be the action of an ignorant person - that can happen anywhere. It shouldn't ruin the chance to discuss a topic like culture.

So yeah, I would like to see this happen. Anything like language, traditions, perhaps even about what can be found out there (maybe nature or specific attractions or whatever), that could go under culture.

Too arbitrary at this point to make, if you ask me. Most language forums are made because there was an immediate need for one in order for the forum community to function properly. I don't believe that to be the case with KHV.

It is now more of a suggestion for a culture forum as opposed to just a language forum.

The whole point is that it is vague, language, art, lifestyle that can all go in and be included within it. It's a way for us to take advantage of the fact we have so many nationalities and cultures represented here on KH-Vids.
