I've only played Star Ocean 3, but it is one of my favourite RPG's, I really liked the story it was very gripping, even if the voice acting is a bit skeptical at times. I like the battle system it's simple, but yet there are alot of moves you can do.
I makes me want to try out the other 2 games in the series.
What do you think about the game?

Star Ocean is a great game, I like there battle systems and the graphics are so pretty, I got the most recent one.
I think It's Star Ocean: Till the end of time, am i right?
Star Ocean is one of my favorite RPG's(after Breath of Fire) I think the stories have all been terrific.
Star Ocean(SNES) I felt bad for Ratix, when his freind, Dorn was petrified...it was a powerful story
Star Ocean: The second story(PS1) was just as good as the first, it had some powerful scenes, didnt follow the usual plot like FF does
Star Ocean: Till the end of time(PS2) is just absolutely amazing!

Star Ocean : Till the end of Time, was a great game, had amazing graphics and a lot of side stuff, although i highly suggest buying the guide, it helps a ton and it lists how to go the multiple endings...and theres quite a few of em.

Correct me if I'm wrong - don't you mean like 20 hours of gameplay? I think you typed an extra 0 in there.

Yeah, there is so much replay value, it takes ages to get to level 255 and all the extras you can do also, like the multiple endings

Funny, cause I never really enjoyed the game. I bought it all excited and got about 17ish hours in and I dunno, just never got into it.

I luffles this game!
I'm not finished it yet though, I'm at the place where you have to navigate through the mines on those creature things.
I don't have a clue where to go, but sure that's what Gamefaqs is for! :p
Btw, I'm new, so heya! ^_^

The turtle part was a pain I agree, the Official Guide gave me enough directions to get through it though.
Check Game Faqs, someones sure to have posted a guide that can help you there.
Star Ocean had toonnns of replay/extra stuff, a chunk of alternate endings, two extra character sets to choose, and even a Multiplayer u can unlock!

Star Ocean can be one heck of a long game.
You mean 4D don't you Arc?

SO2 is pretty good <3 not as intense as SO3 though.....SO1 is available as a translated rom for ZSNES....it's alright....SO3 pwns all though >3 I'm on the post-game quests trying to score a few Battle Trophies before moving into Universe mode....I need abit of help though with them *coughAntiAttackAuraBTScough*......but still, do you think I wouldn't name my SN after my fav character, Sophia?? =D I'm gonna use her a LOT in Universe.... I used Maria for Galaxy BTs....

Another example of a series of awsome games made by Square-Enix.
yeah I think its 4D...dont remember really lol
Did anyone notice that the gate Sophia's power opened was the same place that sent Ratix and co. back in time in SO1?

Did any of you know? In Star Ocean 1....
POSSIBLE SPOILERS
Marvel Frozen is the only character you can literally kill off. In Sylvavant Ruins, if you have both Marvel and Joshua in your party and you go to the room with a girl frozen in ice (Joshua's sister Elise, as called in the Dejap translation), there will be a scene in which at the end, Marvel will vanish into nothingness....
I'm playing SO2 right now. I have one game for Claude as the hero, and another with Rena as the main character. What makes SO2 cool is the fact that there are 2 separate storylines ^^

Sorry to remove this conversation here... but is this game as good as KH?
Darkandroid

I believe so yes, It's one great RPG, shame it didn't much notice. The battle system is some what similar to KH, but with a bit more depth.

Hold on......SO3 has MULTIPLE endings? I played it over twice and got the same one...maybe I'll do it again and switch up the stuff I normally do! But to stay closer to the topic, SO3 is a great game! With a BUNCH of plot twists and a truckload of surprises (4D being one)! I'd rate it 10/10! Highly recommended for those who don't have it! And you might wanna go for the DC(Directors Cut) like I did so you can get the multiplayer (though that dungeon is FAR from easy...)!
Darkandroid
12-31-2006, 07:53 AM
Well it was a bit miss leading, it says multiple endings, but the main story doesn't differ, it's just the scenes with indiviual characters after the credits that change depending on how you play the game.

That was only Final Fantasy VII, and at the time that was the best they could do, you should really look more into it then that, they are very human like.

Heh, so expected of you to make this thread, dark.
What I really liked about this series is the Item Creation feature. It wasn't that good in the original, but I had a lot of fun with it in Till the End of Time, especially how they made it into a competition.
The only way you're going to be able to play the original Star Ocean is if you emulate it. To be honest, I did just that, and I'm glad I did, the game is extremely enjoyable with a great storyline and a great cast of characters.
Unfortunately, I never played Star Ocean: The Second Story, but I've heard from a good amount of people that it is a great game.
Star Ocean: Till the End of Time was an amazing game to me. I loved the story, characters, bosses and I absolutely loved the battle system, such a great feature.
Overall, I'd reccomend that everyone try out all 3 of these games, if possible.

psp is a portabelAnd? The PSP, despite being a portable, can still produce great graphics. But, this thread is about Star Ocean, so if you want to discuss Final Fantasy, we can take it to another thread.

I had SO: Till the End of Time, but I got bored with it and eventually gave it to my friend. I remember getting past the place where you were on a different planet or something o_O; In the beginning. And then Gabriella or something's cave, I remember that too.

That game was fun, specially when there was nothing else to do. I once played it when my friends were over, occasionally letting them have a turn (one of them stopped playing when he failed to beat Robin Wind... that was hilarious).
Anyways, I've stopped playing after being beaten by Freya countless times... got bored dying so much.

Sorry. The game to me had the absolute opposite effect. It was down right terrible (yes, I've played all three of 'em). The characters were growing old as the game proceeded further on. (Except Cliff & Albel from SO3, they were the only guys a liked) The battle-system wasn't bad at all, but the moves were too stiff and executed in an over ordered fashion. Some of the enemies really pissed me off due to their looks or acts. Sophia from SO3 was too needy and projected an annoy image to me. Most of the weapons/items/stuff looked alike, with non-unique styles. The sad parts of the story actually made me laugh (sorry, it didn't seem sad enough to the point that it got somewhere serious). Most of the rest of it was pretty much broken. The game was flat-out unnecessary. The only things I enjoyed in the game were the puzzles and challenges (SO3 you get to fight Leneth from Valkyrie Profile). But it was good to know that Square-Enix published these games in which Tri-Ace developed them.
I love and thank the games for the fact that they gave me the money to buy KH2 when it was released (I sold them at GameStop). Now someone else out there can enjoy StarOcean to the fullest in mint condition for half the price!

SO3.....took me nearly 2 years to complete >.>

Well, the battle system was really intense and definitely the highlight of SO3, the story was rather boring , and it was nearly impossible to use characters like Albel in the later game because of their bad battle skills. Also adding Adray (who had NOTHING to do with the entire story) was rather a dumb move.
The bonus battle system was really cool, also liked the really challenging alternate bosses, the battle trophy system was just <3 , which in fact added many challenges to the game (like doing some bosses with only one character).
If u want a great and funny battle system, go buy SO3, if u want a good story, stick to other games >_>

Marvel Frozen of the first SO...she's an interesting character. I posted a thread here to discuss this complex person. Beware of SPOILERS, though.
I just beat Freya in SO3 and all I got was ONE! lousy Battle Trophy. Invincible Fayt (with 5069 DEF) negated ALL her attacks though (even Ether Strike!! OMG~)
