PS3 - Is it really worth it?

I'm sure most of us are asking ourselves this question. The PS3 is great and all, but is it really worth 600 bucks!?

Well, as my PS3 fund grows, I feel more and more confident in my desicion, that the PS3 is the top game system of the next gen consoles. I have come to this disicion because;

1. It's got many more games on i that I want then the Wii or the Xbox360.

2. I've already not eaten lunch for a year, I might as well finish.

What are your opinions?

Hell yes dude, it's so worth it! Whenever you sit down to think if it's worth it, try these (created by me):

1. FF XIII

2. KH3

3. Chances are, Halo 3 is gonna come out for comp eventually xD.

4. Free on-line.

5. $600 devided by $100 dollars = $6. So when you think PS3, just think $6 dollars.

well the cell processor on the ps3 is quite impressive. the motion sensor controller makes it even better. as far as games go, DMC 4 is gonna rock. and there will be awesome sequels on it like kh3, a new .hack// (hopefully with online play), and others. so in the long run it'll definitely be worth it.

I'm going to get a PS3, it is worth it, it's just i can't afford it, so i'm going to have to wait for a price drop, but it has got alot of strong games coming out even if they are sequels

Motion sensor controller? It's the poor man's Wii Controller that'll probably cost more.

Best thing to do is to get A Wii at first, what with it being alot cheaper than the PS3 and also featuring The Legend of Zelda as a launch title is more than enough reason alone to buy it.

Throw on top of that the Virtual Console that'll alow you to play a back catalog of NES, SNES, Genesis and N64 games as well as your Gamecube games and you've got a pretty sweet deal going.

Now, I'm not saying that you shouldn't get a PS3. I'm just saying that you shouldn't spend $600 on it right away when the games you want won't be out yet. I'm saying that you should wait til the games are out, and also til the Price of it has been knocked down by at least half of what they want you to pay now.

it IS worth it but don't buy it for a year. it takes about a year or two to figure out all the bugs and fix them. not to mention the super high price of $500 or $600.

It is worth it, sure the console is more expensive but the accessories are cheaper. The controler for example is $40, thats 10 dollars cheaper then the 360's and $20 cheaper the the Wii w/ nunchuck.....
But I'm not getting one at luanch, not only is there no games, its will have hardware problems like all launch consoles.

But the games are what makes a system and the PS3 has those. Heres some of the games I'm interested in:

Guys, a blu-ray player itself is over 1000$. If I wanted a blu-ray player, I would just buy the PS3 and save 300$, but it also serves as an amazing gaming system.

PS3 supports 1080p HD video, and has a free online system.

Also, such games as Metal Gear Solid 4, Devil May Cry 4, FFXIII+, etc, will probably drive most die-hard fans into buying the PS3 mainly for these single titles. I don't believe at all that the pricing is too high, or that it's not worth the money.

Anyone here who thinks it is, don't buy it. I'd love to see you try and buy all of the hardware, software, and components that the PS3 contains, and build a console under 600$, while still making some kind of profit. There's just no way. In my opinion, the PS3 is DAMN cheap for what it contains. Like I said, a blu-ray player itself is over 1000$. 600$ for a PS3 is more than a good deal. I don't see how you all can't look past the casing and figure out that they really can't price it any cheaper.

.....where did you hear that?? KH3 will most likely be released on the PS3, why would it be on the ps2? You may be confusing KH2:FM+ for KH3.

and yes I know they aren't coming out soon, thats why I said I am going to wait. The only games that are at luanch that will be AAA+ games are Oblivion and possibly Resistance. But of course 2007 is when I'm getting the ps3, MGS4 and DMC4 are coming out sometime late 07.

Yes The Playstation 3 can go online for free. The Wii can do the same although there is a fee you must pay to browse the Internet and purchase the older games. About the backwards compatibility, i was told that only PS2 games could be played on it. Well at least thats one thing the 360 doesn't have. Thanks for the info Sora.

the thing I find really useful is the web browsing functions of the ps3. You can access it while playing a game, so if your stuff on a game. Just pause and take a look at a place like gamefaqs, no more getting up to go to another room!

The 360 launch list was mediocre. There was nothing amazing.. Roxas, I don't see how you thought that it was better.

PS3 might be decent but its price is just too high and the wii will have 25+ launch titles. im a hardcore nintendo man and i admit that the sony fanboys have worded the ps3 into some sort of god of game consoles but eventually there will be another console just like it and better graphics isnt far enough of a game advancment to drop $600.
the wii offers something new, new controllers and new ways of play it might not look as good but its new. yes some sony games were awsome(God of war, ff7, destroy all humans, and of cours,\\KH//) but most sony games are 1st person shooters or hack and slash games with online capabilitys which has been played out so much it has no meaning. there are holes in wat i said but i cant remember wat they were so try to fill them in (i was typing while watching mad tv).
