Computer Monitor to play video games?

I was wondering instead of buying a new TV JUST for games. I wanted to know if computer monitors would work as well? Any recommendations?

There are a number of televisions that are capable of having a cable/dish hookup, slots for video games plus can function as a computer monitor.

My brother has a Samsung flat screen that he uses to play xbox, dvd's and compute on.

Not sure what the price ranges are, but it would seem logical to try and combine stuff down.
