Vbulletin Upgrade

This is just a notice for those of you who don't know what's going on.

Last night, spdude's tech support guy upgraded us from version 3.6.8 to version 3.7.3. As you probably have noticed by now, there are some changed features along with some new ones.

What has been changed:

- Glossary added to navigation bar It can be accessed Here (http://www.kh-vids.net/glossary.php)
- FAQ added to navigation bar It can be accessed Here (http://www.kh-vids.net/faq.php)
- Upgraded Profiles
- Visitor Messages enabled
- Social public groups enabled
- Thread tags
- Friend invite upgrade
- Notifications option enabled
- Albums enabled
- Users will no longer be allowed to set their username and passwords to the same value. Users who already have a password that is the same as their username will be forced to change their password on their next login.

There are a few bugs that we are working on still, so please be patient.

Note: It has been reported that people are having a hard time staying logged in. If you are running MSN Explorer, this may be the cause of the problem. Start up IE normally and it should work fine.

It has the potential to give more options and all. It may take some getting used to at first but there are more things you can do so bear with it and hopefully the few problems there are will be ironed out soon.

By the way, the "Heartless" section of the Glossary is spelled "Hearltess." And isn't there an "s" at the end of "Destiny Island?" *shot*

Upgrade? No offense meant, I'm sure we'll all get used to it with time, but to me, this thing is a downgrade. The profile pages seem all out of whack, and my page has a lot of the dreaded "red X" marks where there are supposed to be images. Like on the album, contacts, and the other links underneath the statistics bar. Red X marks, dead images or something like that. I liked the profile pages the way they were, thank you.

And in my own personal opinion, the navigation bar looks really cluttered up now. Of course, that's just my opinion. This'll really take some time to get used too, and by the time we're used to it, it'll change again. Ah well, tis life.

But once all the kinks and bugs are worked out, I think it'll look nice. I just prefer the last version, with the profile pages the way there were. :sleepy:

The problem is that the thread tags were given an image path that doesn't exist because an image was never made for that feature on this skin. I'm going to try to get this fixed as soon as I can. The navigation bar will be adjusted too, just give us some time.

My guess is that the new features will all be put in the "Quick Links" drop down.

Take all the time you need, it's ok. Once it's cleaned up, I'm sure it'll look great. Besides, real life is more important than internet life. School is sadly, part of real life.

I'm just wondering. I really don't know the name of what this add on is or anything, but if you check the Planet Render forums, there are a lot of members that have their username beyond the capacity that is viewed, but when you click it...a drop down thing comes up showing the full username and "private message" and such. Are we able to do that?

lol, I kinda freaked out when I saw this at school during lunch. I was like "holy crap, the text on the option bar is so much smaller and there's no "my message" thing displaying under the username."

Ah, the upgrades are very lovely. They seem a little confusing at the beginning, but it's rather easy to get used to and use once you've fiddled around with it for a few minutes. The toolbar looks sexy again since it's not so crowded anymore, and now I can actually see the tag images, and the buttons on my Profile instead of a red X! Woot! This is very awesome. Good job guys, and a huge THANK YOU. <3

I'm not sure about people using FireFox or other browsers, but my Internet Explorer is no longer showing Red X's on the Profile Pages, and the Navigation Bar is nice and clean again. Thanks a lot! :D

I really do hope that assumption is right D:. A few members do not like the white skin at the moment (though we have gotten used to it, and others like it), and this is the perfect opportunity to actually have a option in the still to be updated 3.73 for a black one. Since there's going to be a new skin this year, might as well put it there. If there's still the need to update this specific one (for example, a new sort of picture header, or a new color), then do that, and add another second skin of choosing still xD. It would make it more modern.

You could even have a third one for something in between white and black too, like a gray. This way, with three options (that could even be called Light, Dark and Twilight respectively, to fit the KH theme), members can have more of their preference to abide with.

That's probably wishful thinking though ;-;.

You need to be in the newer skin hun. It is along your navigation bar at the top (the bar that has your UserCP etc on it). There is also now an FAQ along there. Or at least there should be.

That's not a new skin, it's just a default skin that came with the upgrade. (Hence why it is called 3.7.3, same as the Vbulliten version number that was just installed).

Try installing 8.0 or another browser. It should work then.

You'll need to upgrade to 8.0 or choose another browser. This has been the only solution which means it's a browser problem that it's simply outdated. It's fixed the issue for several people now. If it doesn't work, we just give spdude a holler.

The other skin isn't as complex, it's just a default skin they give us.

Right at the bottom of the page, there is a bow which says Funky2.0 or something in it. Click down on that to change.

Yeah, the other skin sucks as it is just the skin that is basic for VBulletin. I'm sure we'll get another option or two sometime in the future but these take time to set up.

I'm fine with the current one. Plus I don;t really want a barrage of threads complaining about the new skin again...

I have no absolute knowledge on how it would work out but now that we actually have the options of getting more skins, I would -think- that the new skin would be added and this one would also remain.

Well, hopefully spdude can figure it out then. I'll leave him a message about it if he doesn't check here. Check to see if cookies are enabled, because they should be. You may also want to reset IE though it 'should' do that with the upgrade.

Don't Hurt Me! Man, when I first noticed all of the changes, I was like "Whoo! spdude is workin'!" But it was his tech support dude... Well, I like what's been done. The changes to the member pages are nice.
