This is a guide for those who are thinking of making an AMV, but not sure what to do, or to those who have experience but are looking for ways to improve, ok lets start off with:
What does AMV mean?
It stands for Anime Music Video they are in simple terms putting scenes for a anime to music, but nowdays, people make video not just on Anime but to Games and Movies, but people still call them AMV's, but in some forums they are know was FM's (Fan Movies)
How do you make them?
Making AMV's are easy to make, but hard to master, to make an simple AMV you just simply import the video clip and drag it into the timeline, but to make a good one you need to time to clips to the music, add effects and much more, but i will talk about that later
What program do you use to make them?
There are many programs you can use, such as Windows Movie Maker, Adobe Premiere and Vegas Movie Studio.
But if you are new to making AMV I recommend using Windows Movie Maker, even though it's not the best, it is easy to use, and once you think you have enough experience you can choice to go and use more advanced video editting software such as Adobe Premiere etc. But you can chose to use Premiere straight away, but it will take time getting used to, but if you have experience with WMM, it's makes the learning process easier
Ok, so i know the basics, but how do you make a good AMV?
There are many aspects that determine a good AMV, here are the most important aspects
Timing
This is when you change the scenes of the video clips to the beat of the music, e.g. a drum beat, or the end of the verse etc, most songs have tons of opporunites to change scenes, it's just to find the right time to do so. When reviewing AMV's, timing is one of the main things people look out for, it's almost the backbone of the vid.
Flow
The way the vid flows is very important, you have to keep a constant pace from start to finish, even if you vid had a great ending, if people find the beginning boring they might not even bother to watch the whole thing, keep the person entertained, they are the viewers.
So keep up a good pace from start to finish, don't slack at the end.
Music
Another important aspect, without it your vid is only half a vid.
The scenes have to match to the mood of the song, so calm music goes well with a romatic theme, or metal for an action theme. If you pick the wrong kind of music for the vid, it can ruin the whole thing, even if timing is good and everything, if the music doesn't suit the clips, it ruins it (I know this from experience) So pick the music carefully.
Quality
Not the most important aspect, but a good quality vid does make the vid seem better (I reccomend a bit rate of 1000kb/sec) and if the quality was too low, then people aren't properly gonna see it cos it's hard to make out what is going on
Effects
Effects can help make your vid look good, but too many can spoil it, that is the downside to WMM, it has a very limited range of effects.
Creativity/Originality
This can be very important, and can help make your vid stand out, be original, don't use the same music as everyone else, look at Linkin Park, that has been heavily oveused (go to youtube, you will see what i mean) and can effect your final rating, professional AMV makers 9/10 are going to ignore them. Use a song, that hasn't been used much, so bands that aren't currently in the charts.
General Tips
- Take your time, don't rush it, the longer you take chances are the better the vid is going to be, so what if you can make an AMV in 3 hours, personally i don't think that is impressive, to me that says "I rushed it and didn't put 100% into it" The best AMV normally take 1-3 months to make, they properly do an 1/2 hour a night and take their time.
- Watch the vid constantly, see if the scene you just added fits in well with everything else, look back at the last 20 seconds and watch carefully, and watch it back muliple times to try and stop errors
- Practise makes perfect, not everyone's first AMV is going to be perfect but don't make that an excuse, as you make more you will get better, even if you don't realise it, just learn from your mistakes.
- Get advice, ask those who have had experience, know what they are talking about
- Enter competitions/contests, this can help you improve as a AMV maker, and help you get repuation, and also gives you can chance to compare to fellow AMV makers (some of my best work have been made for contests)
So there you go a guide on how to make an AMV, I hope you have found this useful, and happy AMV making ^_^
If there are anymore question people are unsure of, just ask here, and i will answer the question and add it to this post

Why don't you copy and paste your previous "AMV Guide" from the old forum? I believe amature AMV makers will find that somewhat more helpful. You gave tips, software reccomendations, and other info. If it were not for you, I would have never known about Vegas or Adobe Premiere. Regardless, I think that should be your front page.

This is my first ever AMV:
Hikari-Instrumental (http://video.kh-vids.net/toprated/0/d44defe7-7d41-406a-a76a-988400cd9004.htm) Version
I like it, I think all the clips fit well with the music.
But I want you all to rate it. Also, if you want, I will upload the first 7 seconds of an AMV I am working on. So far, it is 4987329841324% better than my first. Anyway, I want some rating for my first and i may uplaod the first 7 or so seconds of my new one to see if you think where I'm going is right.
It's in the top rated which makes me proud XD.

I'm curious...
How does one get cutscenes and screenshots off the game itself?
I know you can get a lot from kh-vids, but how did they get it in the first place? I need mostly screenshots that I know no site has.

They use graphic capture cards, which allows you to record direct feed from games.

Vas is Das? Is this legal? and if it is, is it expensive? And if it is, is there someone who has this technology who I could possibly commision some "raw materials" from?
Darkandroid
11-29-2006, 12:33 AM
JackS27 - I believe it is legal, and the capture cards cost around $100 I think, you can find them at ebay or amazon (I think) they aren't totally rare
Roxas - Why thank you :)
And i believe I have reviewed it before, and here is that review:
That was pretty good for a first AMV i must say, timing was pretty good, though there were missed beats and some of the timing was off timed. But music choice...umm....well it fitted (durr it's from the KH OST) but i'm not a fan of AMVs' using the soundtrack to the game/anime as the music choice, it rather boring to me and shows unoriginality. But you scene selection was good, nothing seemed totally out of place.
Overall i'm impressed, shame it will probably be your last you have alot of potenial.
7.7/10

Do these cards have to be installed into the game system or the TV by opening either up?
Darkandroid

To tell the truth, I have no idea, I have never used them, the old KH-vids site had an FAQ on what capture card they used and stuff, i'm not sure if they transfered it over to the new site.

It is possible to wire up your console to a DVD recorder and record onto DVD-/+RWs, then use a DVD ripping utility to get your footage onto the PC. I have done it, but attempting to explain how to do the connection is beyond me. I had help in doing the connections.
Darkandroid

I know how to do DVD rips, but taking game footage, is beyond me it's an area i'm yet to tread in.
WarpObscura
11-29-2006, 01:32 AM
You need to connect your console to the DVD recorder, as mentioned. Turn on both devices and start your game, get to the event you want to record, then press the record button. Do what you need to do. Then press stop. Remove the recordable DVD and transfer to PC. Rip.
There you have it. Easy enough in theory. The challenge comes from the initial connection, but everything is smooth-sailing after that.

Glad to help. I think you need to attach your console's AV cables to the audio and video IN ports on your DVD recorder, but that is what it looks like for me. You might need a different method...?
On the other hand, you might experience latency issues with that. This means that the displayed video lags behind what is actually happening. In that case, you will need a splitter or coupler or composite AV lead and connect one end to the TV, the other going to the DVD recorder.
Roxas

Why don't you just donwload the videos from kh-vids? Unless you want them from another game I guess...
WarpObscura
11-30-2006, 12:06 AM
Well, you know, sometimes the video-maker wants to see a portion of the interactive content handled his way. For example, YouTube user Nunuu made a video of using only Eternal Session to bash through the final Mansex battle. That is something not covered in the videos here. Recording your own footage allows you to tailor your own individual take on doing things rather than be "constrained" by what is available by default.
Darkandroid
11-30-2006, 12:15 AM
I remember that video, nunuu has lots of great videos. Also people may find it has better quality than KH-vids, since i guess, they have to compress it and then upload it and stuff. To some they would perfer to have direct rips.
WarpObscura
11-30-2006, 12:53 AM
Yes. With your own rips you get to control the quality of the video used. Furthermore, the videos downloadable off the main site are in 320x240. If someone needs/wants to use a larger video size for whatever reasons, it would be best to rip it direct him/herself so you get the full 640x480 or 720x480 resolution.

Do these cards have to be installed into the game system or the TV by opening either up?
I have taken a look around and a post made by a user at a Ninja Gaiden forum I visit might prove useful.
Hardware
Right, first of all you are going to need some sort of device to record or capture your video source. These can be either:
- Capture device/card,
- DVD Recorder or
- VCR
A capture device is probably the easiest way of transferring video to your hard drive, but unfortunately it's not as simple as just connecting up your Xbox and pressing record. Most capture devices and DVDRs have a recording latency, which means the signal coming from your Xbox will be slightly delayed by a fraction of a second. Anyone who has tried to play NGB with such latency will tell you - it's impossible!
There are ways to bypass this latency though by splitting the signal in two (one to the TV and one to the capture device) using the right adapters and cables.
Splitter adapters x3 (http://i31.photobucket.com/albums/c360/haz666/Splitter.jpg)
Couplers x3 (http://i31.photobucket.com/albums/c360/haz666/Coupler.jpg)
Composite AV Leads x2 (http://i31.photobucket.com/albums/c360/haz666/Composite.jpg)
For a picture of all leads together, click this link:
All leads and adapters together (http://i31.photobucket.com/albums/c360/haz666/Splittersetup.jpg)
Or, if you live in Scart (http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Scart) territory (mainly Europe), and have a Scart connection on your TV, you could do away with splitters and couplers altogether by buying a Scart lead with an AV block attached - like this:
Scart lead with AV block (http://www.amazon.co.uk/gp/product/B00005UBQC/026-8598060-9037208?v=glance&n=300703)
The Scart will connect to your TV, which you will use to play games on latency free, and the AV block is connected to your capture device via composite AV leads. A much easier and tidier solution IMO.
And there you go, that's it. As long as you have this set-up, you will be able to capture video latency free. As far as I know, you can record straight to VHS latency free, but I can't confirm this as I have never tried. But you will still need a capture device to transfer the VHS to your hard drive. You will also need to make sure you have enough video and audio leads.
Software
To capture video from Xbox or VCR you can use Windows Movie Maker which is very simple and easy to use, especially if you just want to get a video up and running ASAP. However, if you have an older version of windows that won't run Movie Maker, then there are some free capture programs like VirtualDub (http://www.virtualdub.org/), which are just as good, if not better.
To get video from a DVD or DVD-RW you will need video ripping software such as RipIt4Me (http://www.ripit4me.org/). Once ripped, you can then edit the video in Windows Movie Maker or any editing program of your choice.
50hz Vs 60hz
If you live in America or any other country that uses NTSC (http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Ntsc), then consider yourself lucky. You will be able to record in 60hz with absolutely no hassle at all. However, for people that live in PAL (http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/PAL) territories, you can have an utter nightmare trying to capture in 60hz and may just have to settle for 50. You can change between 50 and 60hz in the Xbox dashboard settings.
In fact, it's actually called PAL60 over here and is relatively new. VirtualDub is the only program I have seen that 'officially' supports it. It is possible to force Windows Movie Maker or Ulead into capturing PAL60 by using a program called Dscaler (http://deinterlace.sourceforge.net/downloads.htm).
1. Load Dscaler and select your capture device
2. Now set your video standard to PAL60
3. Close Dscaler and load your capture program - voila!
If you use a DVDR or VCR to record then you can forget 60hz altogether. It is possible but the colours will either be all green or black and white.
Why record/capture in 60hz/PAL60?
Well, the main benefit is a much faster, smoother frame rate. 50hz is roughly 17.5% slower and if the game is not optimised for this (in fact, Team Ninja games are the only ones I have come across that are not properly optimised for 50hz), then the frame rate can suffer and become choppy. Some people prefer the slower pace of 50hz though so it really comes down to personal preference.
Capturing and compressing video
Ok, capturing video can be a complicated procedure, especially if you have no previous experience. What I will do here is go through the steps of capturing video right through to compressing it, ready for distribution over the internet. Before you begin, make sure you have the latest DirectX (http://www.microsoft.com/windows/directx/default.mspx) driver installed, and also install the latest codec pack. I use the K-lite codec pack (full) and it can be found here (http://www.free-codecs.com/download/K_Lite_Codec_Pack.htm).
1. Download and install this Huffyuv codec (http://neuron2.net/www.math.berkeley.edu/benrg/huffyuv.html) (pre-built DLL),
2. Load up VirtualDub (http://www.virtualdub.org/),
3. File>Capture AVI,
4. Select your capture device from the device menu,
5. Press 'C' to enter compression menu and select 'Huffyuv' and then 'Ok',
6. Video>Capture filter>Video Decoder. Select your video standard (NTSC, PAL, PAL60 etc),
7. Capture>Settings. Make sure frames per second is correct (NTSC = 29.97, PAL = 25, PAL60 = 29.97),
8. Press F2 and select destination and filename,
9. Press F5 to start capturing,
10. Once finished, press ESC to stop.
Right, now you have your captured video, you may have noticed that the file size is pretty big. With the Huffyuv codec it should be around 250mb per minute. Obviously this is far to large to share over the internet, so what you need to do now is compress the video some more, and get it down to a respectable size but still keep as much of the original quality as possible.
It's actually very simple to do this if you have a copy of Windows Movie Maker. This is what you need to do:
1. Load Movie Maker,
2. Import your movie (Ctrl+I),
3. Trim off any unwanted parts of your video,
4. Drag your finished movie into the timeline,
5. Now save movie by pressing Ctrl+P
6. Select location (My computer), select filename and destination, now select other settings and choose 'high quality video (large)' or 'high quality video (small)', depending on how big you want the file. Press next.
All done!!! :-P
Hopefully if you are thinking of making some NGB vids then this thread will be of use to you, but if I have left anything out or you have any questions then PM me and I will try to answer them for you.
Hazuki (~)
It is for XBox, but with some modifications it should be able to work for PS2. What those modifications are, though, I have no idea yet.

Well, I raised Nunuu as an example only.

The problem with WMM is that, the more you use it the more it tends to crash, and the more complicated the video gets the more it crashes (like when i was making Hearts of Wonder, it drove me mad and i almost gave up on it)
But unforunately I can't think of anything to improve it, unless freeing up some memory to make your PC run faster.

Pretty much they give you many more options and better control of those feautres. I use Vegas and pretty much click on Video FX and pick a effect you want to use for the video. and then you click and drag that effect onto the click you want to apply it to, same goes for tranisitions, click and drag the transistion you want to use between the the 2 clips.
If there are any particular effects you want to use, but can't find them, tell me here and I can guide you to it.

I don't want to be mean, but I'm gonna have to be honest and say that even for a first AMV, it lacked many things. It was basically 3-4 clips played over an overused Linkin Park song. There seemed to be no theme, random timing, and, well, no interesting parts to it.
I'm a beginner too, but I can say that my first AMV topped that easily. An AMV should bring out emotions in the viewer, but your AMV more or less bored me (although I did watch the whole thing).
I'm sorry for this bad review, and it is your first AMV, but I still think you should have worked harder on it. You asked us how to donwload vids today. You also uploaded the AMV today. It tells me that you haven't really been working very hard on it. I'm sorry to spoil your day, but I just think that so much more could have been done to make that better.
Keep making AMVs using a larger variety of clips and you'll finally get them going right. Of course, you're taking all of this advice from someone who has only made one AMV. But I still feel like I've seen enough amazing *cough* Darkandroid* *cough* AMVs to give you pointers, and I feel the one AMV I made was good too.
An AMV doesn't have to be flashy and complicated ot be good. Try and interest the viewer and make them feel sadness, excitement, and happiness. Even with a basic AMV, if you can catch these things then viewers will be interested in watching your AMV.
I am sorry for this terrible review. Just try harder next time.

Secondly... I noticed that lots of AMVs have this little rainbow-y glow-y thingy goin' on, but I can't find it on Windows Movie Maker. If it's available to WIndows Movie Maker, how do I do it?
Also, what's that clip when Roxas is in his Organization cloak and kicking all of those heartless's butts and crap and it's raining and looking and all cool and crap? I don't have the KH2 videogame yet, and I'm trying to keep some things secret so I don't spoil it for myself. >.>

Okay, I've been reading all these intructions on this thread regarding video cards.
Let's pretend for a minute that I'm relatively poor and cannot afford a video card and/or a DVDR player.
Do you know anyone I can commission to get some screenshots?

Have you tried downloading it? If it goes in Temporary Internet Files, it seems more like you are trying to stream it. Unless that is not the case, in which I fear I cannot help you there. Microsoft creates some pretty unique (read: weird) error messages.

Did you just 'Download' it? or did you 'Save Target As'?
EDIT:
I got this idea for an AMV. Any of you familar with the song, Suteki da ne? It was in Final Fantasy X.
So anyways, my idea is I use the song with Kingdom Hearts. But I make it more like an a music video retelling the story of Kingdom Hearts (The first one, of course). So I start from Destiny Islands, and go all the way to the End of the World.
Does this seem like an insane task or a great idea?

Okay, I know I made a request, but it got kind of glanced over (understandibly) so...here's my idea:
I love it when the end credits of movies show pictures of the cast, whether caricatures or scenes from the film or whatever, next to their names in the credits (think LOTR: Return of the King or Kill Bill vol.2). I wanted to do something like that with Kingdom Hearts II. I've compiled the cast list of credited actors and my idea was to use their "Full View" pics from Jiminy's Journal (you know, where you go into a character file and it says "Press Triangle for Full View"?) The problem is, I don't have the money for a video card, nor do I have the technichal know-how to install one. Is there anyone out there who can help me get the footage I need?
If there is, please PM me for the cast list. I'll be forever grateful if there's someone out there, but I understand if there isn't.

For a first AMV it's looking good, no scene is dragged out for to long. Though your timing is rather random, it's good to time it to the beat and lyrics, like at the 0:04, - 0:04 mark where there is a quick drum beat, it's good to time the clips at those 5 beats or so for instance. And your choice of clips is also random, thought they do fit the song, they seem random and have relation with the other clips. I remember and love that song, it can work very well if done correctly.

K, I need some help.
WMM is being a real pain in the rear. For some strange reason, I can't save my finished video. It keeps mentioning that some of the videos are not where they are or they is not enough free space to save it.
...Yeah, see, I checked every single clip in WMM, and all of the video files I have and they're all where they should be.
I have about 47 GB unused with the video I want to save is about 80 something MB.
So, I really don't know what to do.

Videos not where they are... well remember, When you import to WMM, it only reads it from that location ( example MY Videos) even though its still on your computer, WMM wont recognize it unless it is in the location where it was first imported. Double check to make sure they are in the correct folder.

Yeah programs like Vegas and Premiere have hard times reading AVI's this is due to the codes in the video that they can't read very well, the way i get around it is by coverting that file to WMV. Vegas is generally doesn't take up much space, about 200MB, but here is the full requriements.
* Microsoft® Windows® 2000 SP4, XP Home, or XP Professional (Windows XP SP2 required for HDV and XDCAM)
* 800 MHz processor (2.8 GHz recommended for HDV)
* 200 MB hard-disk space for program installation
* 600 MB hard-disk space for optional Sony Sound Series Loops & Samples reference library installation
* 256 MB RAM (512 MB RAM recommended for HDV)
* OHCI-compatible i.LINK® connector¹/IEEE-1394DV card (for DV and HDV capture and print-to-tape)
* Windows-compatible sound card
* DVD-ROM drive (for installation from a DVD only)
* Supported CD-recordable drive (for CD burning only)
* Microsoft DirectX® 9.0c or later²
* Microsoft .NET Framework 2.0²
* Internet Explorer 5.1 or later²
* Product requires online registration within 30 days

This really should be asked in the AMV Help Topic in the Creativity Part but oh well.
It depends on your software. As you already know there are different types of video format (wmw, rm, avi). You can import a clip/video into the software and start trimming it.
The same goes with music though MPEG-4 dosent seem to work on WMM.
This should be moved into the AMV Help thread.

If you use posturize, grayscale, and the other effect the reduces colors, you get a 5- color grayscale that looks cool. Or if you take away grayscale you get a bright, low-bit color effect that also looks cool. I used it on my 'Fallen' amv that's on youtube.

It's different from saving the project - press the little "file" button, and there's thins thing called "Save Movie File" and when you finish pressing the next button a lot of times (cuz that's basically all you have to do... XD) it'll be saved as a wwm file...

WMM does have a tendancy to crash.
For me, most of the time it's because it can't get enough CPU power. It really takes up alot of CPU so try to not have too many programs open. Also, check if your codecs interfere with the program. Once I had a Codec that screwed up WMM alot. Try disabling certian Codecs in the Options menu.
I'm a Novice at Sony Vegas. It's not too bad, the layout needs time to be getting used to though. Fortunatly, it's very flexable and you can change the layout however you like once you know where everything is. :)

The one about cutting shapes is masking, if you go to crop/pan for the clip in the bottom of that area is the option mask.

Does anyone know how to add watermarks in sony vegas?like know how to lower the transparency on there?
The best way to do it is like this:
- Create your watermark (text, logo, etc) and save as a .psd .
(Make sure your background is transparent)
- In Vegas, from the Main toolbar, select Insert -> Video Track
- Now drag the clip to match the length of your video.
That's the easiest way I've found that comes out looking good. A couple other things; make sure the video track with your watermark is above your video on the timeline, and it's best if your .psd has the same dimensions (width x height) as your video .

Yeah that pretty much explained it.
Or alternatively, create a text media and lower the ocapancy of it by clicking and dragging the top of the text on the timeline.

Dunno how it is with vegas, but im pretty sure the file type wont do much to it but just in case, try AVI. Anyways, when I used premiere and exported, the vids came out looking like crap and I started toggling with the different video codecs that were built into my computer. One of them gave me the same quality that I had the videos in with a few interlacing problems but Ill take care of that later. Anyways, what im saying is try working with the video codecs it gives you. Ill research it sometime cuz Im speaking from a premiere user's point of view.

The problem with WMM is that every time i open it, this window pops up and says "Windows movie maker has encountered a problem and needs to close"
then it says "send error report" or "dont send"
i sent one like 5 times.
i might try sony vegas

First you need to save it as a movie, because WMM files can't save. What you do is press File, Save Movie, then save it to your computer. Then it'll become a different file that's Windows Media Player. It's that file that you upload onto the site.

If it is because you have to put your e-mail address so I was wondering will they only e-mail you the clips that you want or what? also when you upload something is it loke a whole scene? If it is can you like use the movie maker to use just part of it or what? I plan on using the microsoft movie maker because I have never made a amv before so it sounds good. that's about all.

Well when it's imported into Movie Maker, it should already be broken into parts, all you have to do is find the right part and click and drag it into the timeline.
Knightshade
09-03-2007, 03:40 PM

K guys I have a quick question. I want to import songs for windows movie maker and the last song I did I used a song file from iTunes. But the song I want to know from iTunes won't work. and when I import it it says this.
The file C:\Users\*\Music\iTunes\iTunes Music\beyonce & Shakira\Beatiful liar - EP\01 Beautiful Liar.m4a cannot be imported because the codec required to play the file is not installed on your computer. If you have already tried to download and install the codec, close and restart Windows Movie Maker, and then try to import the file again.
So if aynone can tell me were to get this codec thing or whatever that would be greatly appreciated.

I also have a problem with windows movie maker. When I was working on a amv, I saved and closed. The next day, when I opened the file, All the video clips had a red x on them, making it so that I had to delete all the videos from my collection, re-import them, and redo my amv. Okay, I assume this is the right place to put this.
First off, I'm new to making AMVs. However, I got the hang of it pretty quickly, and I think I'm pretty creative with it.
I was about two-thirds done with one project, when I started making another for a while. Then, just now, I went to my other AMV and all the clips are X'ed!!! It's all blank and messed up! Is it possible I may have moved the files around to different folders, and that screwed it up? I'm so sad now, I put a lot of effort into it, considering it's kind of a crazy techno song, and has a lot of short, fast clips. I suppose I could start from scratch but I need to know if it's salvageable?

I'm assuming you're using WMM. It's simple. When you moved the videos to a different location, WMM's links to the clips were broken. All you have to do is either move it back where you got it, re-import the videos from its new location or browse for the missing file by double-clicking on the X'd clips, restoring the links to the videos.

WMM keeps freezing a LOT. Is that because my vid is too detailed?
Destiny's Force

WMM keeps freezing a LOT. Is that because my vid is too detailed?
Yeah, it does that. It gets frustrating when it freezes every five minutes. That's why you have to make sure you save every now and then.
Don't worry, the freezing up part is normal. It seems to happen more likely when you import a lot of source vids into WMM. The more you have, the more likely it'll freeze up. The same rule applies depending on how detailed the video is.
It's hard, but with enough persistence and effort, you'll finally finish it! ;)

Indeed, Windows Movie maker is isuued with countless flaws. I would suggest only using .wmv files, for DivX and other .avi formats tend to lock WMM up a lot. The quality shouldn't matter, just the file types and whether or not WMM wants to make things easy for you. xD

Oh, THAT'S why it freezes up? Because it's not a .wmv format? That explains a lot. I usually use the KH cutscenes from...that...other...site. :sweatdrop: And all of their clips are .avi formats.
Well, that's one mystery that's been cleared up. :)

Well I'm not saying that's always the reason WMM is having issues, but I've noticed it seems to run more smoothly when you are only using one particular format (like I said, .wmv seems to run best).DivX codec screws with Wmm often too... so yeah, it can be a royal pain sometimes.

Ah, okay. Thank you!
I've learned to save the project for every single clip I add. >.< Though, right now, it's running smoothly. And I'm pretty sure my files are all wmv.
Edit:
What??? I finally finished my video, and I tried to upload it to Youtube, then it was processing it, and now it says "Failed (invalid file format)". Why is that?
Another edit:
Youtube says my file was a .MSWMM file, by the way. I don't know what that means, or how to make it a valid format. xP
Last Edit (rofl):
Nevermind, I figured it all out. I found out how to save it as a .wmv file.

Alright.. So I have a question:
Is there a reverse/rewind effect I could get for WMM?? I'm working on an AMV and I want to reverse the clip of Kairi turning around in the end of KH1 when she is seperated from Sora and the Islands come back. I was wondering if there is some kind of effect I can get for that. I really want to do it because it'll work with the song. Any ideas? Or can you give me a link to a free download of a software that will do that??

Can we have, like, a judging thread. As in AMVs from amatures, (Like meh) where we could get yeas and Nays from our videos, and tips? Expecially for us WMM peeples.

Well if you go to the competision section a lot of people have AMV competitions there. Such as the Axelrific AMV competetion thing. That's probably the most popular one. Or you go even make your own there

Thank you. But now I have another question:
How do you import an unfinished AMV to Sony Vegas? I'm trying to take my new AMV and put it in Sony Vegas so I can finish it. But it's not working. Any help? Do I have to switch the file to a .wmv file or something?
