This might be a repeated thread...but I looked back and if there's one...it's long gone and I don't want to necrobump.

Anyone play the guitar? Which kind? Electric? Acoustic classical? Steel-string?
Acoustics are my personal favorite...Although I haven't played for long. I want to practice lots so I get really good! 8D

Anyone make music? What kind of music do ya people use when playing? Tabs or staff? I prefer tabs...>< Eh...

LET'S ROCK!!!! *headbangs*

I have two guitars: an acoustic I picked up after a garage sale and an electric that my brother didn't want because the bottom was scuffed.

They're both my babies, because I saved them both from "certain" doom: the acoustic was doomed to be trashed, and the electric would just never be touched. So I took 'em both home and touched them up, and they look wonderful. Sound fantastic too.

The only trouble is the electric one - a Denstone, is built for a felt-handed player, and I'm right handed. So just to be able to play I had to learn to play lefty. That was a feat in and of itself.

I have/play an acoustic. I so badly want an electric, though. They're so much funner to play. 8D I play better on electric.

Lulz, I'm still learning. Well kind of. >> XD

I play electric guitar. I don't have my own guitar, I use my brother's guitars. He has three electric guitars and one acoustic. I've played the acoustic guitar, its actually not hard. Well for me it isn't. I'm mainly playing his electric guitars. I'm learning Simple and Clean right now. When I'm done learning that song, I'll probably start learning to play La Bamba or Stand in the Rain. Those are the only tabs I have so far.

I only own an acoustic steel-stringed guitar at the moment, but I'm planning on getting an electric once I get a job to pay for it. I've been playing for two years now. It's a fun instrument, as hard as it is. Been taking classes at my school. So, yeah.

I play the drums but I was once taught how to play Purple Haze for when we got bored in school and decided to do an instrument switch for that lesson.

I just stared learning how to play acoustic guitar about two weeks ago. Its hella fun. I just bought a cheap Ibanez Dreadnought guitar starter pack. Its pretty nice for only $200. I'm thinking of buying an electric guitar in June (gives me plenty of time to learn a bunch of good songs). Any suggestions? What's a good brand?

I might be a little late with suggesting stuff...but if money isn't a problem, then a Fender or a Gibson would be good. Yes...they're expensive but still badass and classic.

Yea, I play when I have free time. I'm still kind of a moderate player, so I can't do anything too insane, but I can play some Beatles songs, which appeases my fanboyism.

I used to play a little bit; I learned it in school a few years ago. But when I tried taking lessons on my own, it was too hard to get into. I wish I could play, but I can't anymore. D:

I remember the conversation we had about this. Yes I play both the electric and acoustic guitar. I have three guitars: A fender stratocaster, Les Paul, and my dad's acoustic that he gave to me, they're all really nice and I've been playing for years now.

Took acoustic guitar lessons for a year, now I've been taking electric guitar lessons for half a year. I'm pretty good with chords, so I'm a relatively good comp-guitarist in the music schools band.
I've played a little bit of electric bass guitar too, it seemed rather simple to me.

I'm not a huge guitar player but it's sort of like a family tradition. My dad plays guitar, my bro plays guitar, and I play guitar. We have about five or six guitars including the bass. My favorite is my dad's favorite. We call it either: Black Beauty, or the Lexus. The Lexus because my dad has a Lexus sticker on the headstock, and black beauty because it's black. It's a Gibson Les Paul, with some of the best pick-ups out there. The one major flaw: IT HAS NO BACK TO THE BODY! You see, my dad was out a good 10 or so years ago, with some of his musician friends. Everyone had run out of beer not long after they got there, except my dad. One of his friends had Black Beauty, and since it had no back, it was almost worthless. So he said: "Dude, I'll give you this for the rest of your beer." And that was that. My dad has since then covered the back almost three times over with various stickers. It has some of the best sound I've ever heard out of a guitar. Well, I've been rambling.

Heya :P I play it since 3 years ago. I know how to play acoustic and electric, but I haven't played the acoustic since a lot of time 'cause the electric is just awesome. xD I use chords most of the time, and hmm... I think I prefer to play rock and if I get bored I start to play metal. :)

I played guitar a while ago. My guitar was WAY too small, though. And when I was put in guitar class, after 2 days they put me in the expert class just because of my age. I then quit because everytime I would try to play something, everyone else in the class would laugh at me. So now I play the drums, and my neighbor teaches me.

Can anybody give name some good starter electrics out there? I only own an acoustic and I want an electric so I can play some rock songs without it sounding weird. Also, what sort of amp would be good as my first amp? Would I need the kind that I can put on my waist or what?

Yamaha is a good guitar to start with, and the amp hmm a Yamaha of 20 watts is good too.

Acoustic, steel string. Apparently I'm so good at it, I'm doing some chords early thats 2 months ahead of me. When I'm great, I'm turning to electric.

There's no such thing as chords like that. XD You might mean barres. It's possible to learn how to do them in maybe two or three days if you practice enough. Back then...I didn't practice. >>

Oddly enough...I can't make So Cold sound right on my guitar. I tuned it down to Drop C and I can play as fast as them...but the intro sounds odd on my acoustic. ><

Soo...anyone learn anything new? OH! And who's heard of the Moog guitar? It's old news but it looks so awesome. >>

Mainly the acoustic. But hell yes, I am getting much better. I can sight read.
Hopefully fingers crossed, my godmother will be psychic for once and give me an electric one for my birthday. Last time she gave me anything was about 2/3 years ago. D=

But I have yet to master DA PICK OF DOOM :ninjacat:
