KH-Vids on new server, as of 1/23/09

Dear members,

Kh-vids.net went down for server maintenance and transfer as of roughly 1 a.m. est last night. What was expected to happen was for the forum to be shut down and the DNS to be changed after all the files, attachments etc. were moved. However our support guy seemed to have left the job unfinished, because our DNS was in fact never changed. We are working on contacting him and getting the problem solved and get our DNS changed.

Please note that if the site was transfered successfully when we talk to him, any post made from now until roughly 10 hours from now (4 a.m. est) will be erased when the DNS is changed. For now the site will be reopened for browsing purposes and tests.

No other major updates will take place until we have recieved word about our server status and if the DNS was changed. All video downloads in our archive should still be operating normally.We apologize for any inconvenience.

Yes, nothing important anyhow. We've decided to keep the site open in the mean time so people can still download cutscenes and have something to do.

The site has been successfully transfered, and we were able to restore all posts so nothing should be lost.

I just want to know why they did this, because it only happened at my night time, whci h is annoying, coz that's the only time I could post. I'm happy that everythig is back to normal though.

Stupid question here but...

Will this site still be blocked at meh school for now?

I can almost guarantee it will. Most blocks are done by key words in the page. If your school's content blocker uses the server I.P. (which is very unlikely) that is the only chance of it being temporarily unblocked. Sorry.


Anyway I'm glad you got a new server though I'm very bad about checking the board so I half freaked when my browser couldn't find KHV. Hope this help with DBEs and other tech stuff.

Just wanted to make a comment that I'm working on solving the current sluggishness of the forums (entire server actually). It's a long and painful process.. and might take a couple more days. One thing I've done temporarily is disabled searching of the boards.. so if you get an error message while attempting to search for something, it's because that was done deliberately.

With respect to re-enabling the search feature.. I want to wait for 3 complete days of no problems. The three days wont matter too much, if it helps us solve these problems for good.

Yes, that's the plan. It's 6.30 Eastern, and the server is holding well.. we might be pass the problems already. Couple more days, and we'll know for sure.

That would be your answer. It's temporary to increase the server speed while transition fixes are being made.
