FULLMETAL ALCHEMIST: DEEP ALCHEMY

Story:
Edward and Alphonse Elric are two alchemists brothers who search for the legendary Philosopher's Stone, a powerful object which would allow them to recover their bodies (which were lost in an attempt to bring their mother back to life through alchemy). Born in the village of Resembool from the country of Amestris, the two brothers lived there with their parents. Their father, Hohenheim, left home for unknown reasons and years later, their mother, Trisha Elric, died of a terminal illness leaving the Elric brothers alone. After their mother's death, Edward becomes determined to bring her back through the use of alchemy, an advanced science in which objects can be created from raw materials. They researched Human Transmutation, a forbidden art in which one attempts to create or modify a human being. However, this attempt failed, ultimately resulting in the loss of Edward's left leg and Alphonse's entire body. In a desperate effort to save his brother, Edward sacrificed his right arm to affix his brother's soul to a suit of armor. Some days later, an alchemist named Roy Mustang visits the Elric brothers, and he tells Edward to become a member of the State Military of the country to find a way to recover their bodies. After that, Edward's left leg and right arm are fitted with two sets of automail, a type of advanced prosthetic limb, created for him by his close family friends Winry Rockbell and her grandmother, Pinako.
Edward sets out to become a State Alchemist, an alchemist employed by the State Military of Amestris, which infamously annihilated much of the neighboring country of Ishbal's population in the past decade. Becoming a State Alchemist enables Edward to use the extensive resources available to State Alchemists, but it also turns him into what they call a "dog of the military." His more friendly relationship with Col Mustang however, whom he reports to and recruited him, allows the brothers freedom to search for the Philosopher's Stone as part of Edward's research, as each State Alchemist is expected to independently research new things which may be of a use to the State Military of Amestris. The brothers set off in search of the Philosopher's Stone as a means to restore their bodies. Throughout their journey, they meet many antagonists, including those who are willing to do anything to obtain the Philosopher's Stone, Scar, one of the few surviving Ishbalans, who seeks vengeance on the State Alchemists for the destruction of his race, and the homunculi, a group of human-like creatures who carry pieces of the Philosopher's Stone inside themselves, and from it derive the ability to survive almost any harm.

2) Experienced alchemists only! (Please have watched all 51 episodes and seen the movie AT LEAST once. Keeping up with Brotherhood will not be necessary for this thread.)
3) Death is allowed, but with permission and good reason.

6) Use some form of editing for swearing.
7) Not all OCs can be alchemists, and they CANNOT be related to the Elric brothers (other relations are fine).

Background- Julia grew up on the outskirts of Central with her younger brother, Robert. Their parents were dogs of the military, killed in an Ishbalan assignment. Julia was 11 at the time, Robert was 9. Not wanting the same fate as her parents, Julia delved into the studies of alchemy to learn protection and to occupy her time. She was usually watched by her younger brother when she was practicing. Absorbed in her studies, Julia did not see the pressure it was putting on Robert, not the way in which her released that pressure. Robert was coerced into a gang-like life, and was killed at the age of 13 in a brawl. Julia, devastated by losing the last of her close family, attempted forbidden alchemy: a Human Transmutation. However, it was naught but an attempt. She paid the price of her right arm and got something that looked nothing like her dear Robert in return. Horrified by what she'd done, she left home. She didn't get far though, losing her consciousness from the blood that she was losing so quickly. She woke, to the sound of clinking metal, inside a dimly lit room with a strong looking man by her bedside. She found herself bandaged and was confused as to how she got to where she was. Julia asked the man kindly for an explanation. He told her that his name was Dominic and he'd found her on his way back from an automail market, and just in time too. Julia thanked him and told him she'd find a way to pay him back. She was surprised when Dominic laughed and told her that there was no need for payment. Puzzled, Julia again asked for an explanation. She was brought close to tears when Dominic told her the story of his wife dying in childbirth, only for the baby to die but a few months later. Julia didn’t understand how Dominic could still smile and laugh after such a loss. But what really struck her was what he said next: "You know, I bet my daughter would have looked just like you if she'd grown up." Julia felt she owed Dominic something for his kindness, but it didn't stop there. Julia next learned that Dominic was a gifted mechanic and then offered to make her a new arm. She refused at first, having no money to pay him. But after he insisted, she accepted. For the next year, Julia lived with Dominic and pt her new arm to good use in alchemy practice. Julia was both delighted and shocked when she discovered that she could perform alchemy without a circle. She spent a good portion of her time with her nose in a book, learning everything she could about alchemy and equivalent exchange. She also looked for a reason as to why she didn't need a circle for alchemy. When she felt she'd learned everything she could from Dominic and his books, she left to go in search of more answers.

Background- Born on a farm, on the outskirts of Central, Jessie grew up in a poor family.Jessie never wanted the dull life of farmer and sought an education. He taught himself how to read at age 5. Upon learning this, Jessie's parents immediately placed him in the nearby school where he excelled above everyone else.
Whenever his parents had the chance they would take him to the library, in Central, so Jessie could pick out a new book to read. It wasn't long before he happened upon alchemy. Jessie buried himself in books about alchemy. He would sometimes even spend an entire day reading up on alchemy.
The idea of taking something and turning it into something else amazed him. He looked over several kinds of alchemy, but there was one that caught his interest. Alchemy that utilized an object's excess electrons. In other words, alchemy that created electricity. Jessie mastered it by age 8.
Being a master of alchemic electricity, Jessie started making his own formulas. Such formulas included formulas that stored millions of electrons as well as formulas that controlled where an electric current went in water and other conductors. Though his discoveries could have made him rich, he kept them all secret.
Around age 11, he started trying to do something that was more difficult; Controlling a current through air molecules. After weeks of research, he finally discovered a formula that could work. All that was left was to test it.
That night, when his parents and his little sister was asleep, he sneaked outside so he could try it out. While testing, he lost control, which resulted in a disaster. He ended up setting his home on fire. None of his family members survived.
After the flames resided, Jessie aimlessly wandered the land till his legs collapsed. He awoke at a stranger's house to discover that he could no longer remember his family and hometown. From then on Jessie moved from place to place. He continued practicing alchemy but still couldn't master that new formula of his. It wasn't until he learned of Roy Mustang that he figured out a way to perfect it. He took Roy's idea of using gloves and made it his own.
By age 18, He created a special type of gloves that had a flexible metallic lubricant with an inside coating of rubber. On the gloves, Jessie molded the three formulas, that he discovered, into one. by rubbing the gloves against any solid object, Jessie can store millions of electrons inside the gloves. By rubbing the two gloves together he can unleash the electricity into the air and control it as he pleases. for direct precision blasts, He will rub his right hand's pointer and middle finger against the palm of his left hand, and then aim his two fingers at his target.
Water is not a hindrance to Jessie since he can control the flow of electricity. However, if he were to store to much electrons in his gloves, the result would be a complete release of electrons that would backfire on him. Jessie has been working on fixing this problem for the past two years.
Jessie uses a mixed style of martial arts that he picked up over the years. He is quick on his feet, has an unpredictable personality and will occasionally steal things. He likes to be on the move, and is always looking for a way to amuse himself. the military has taken an interest in him but has yet to catch up with him. Jessie is uncertain with what he wishes to do with his life. He is uncertain about a lot of things.
Appearance- Blond hair with short lightening shaped bangs. He usually has a smug appearance and he likes to keep his hands in his pockets. He tends to wear black t-shirts and short blue jeans. He is always wearing his gloves. They are black with a white alchemic symbol on the palms. He carries spare gloves in his pockets. He is slender and measures 6ft 3

Background- Deceit is a Homunculus created by Julia when she attempted to bring back her brother with Human Transmutation. Deceit was come upon by Envy and brought up by Lust, Gluttony, Greed, Envy, Pride, and Sloth, staying with whomever was available. His Oroborus tattoo is on the inside of his wrist. He has not developed as quickly as the others in some things, but his named talent is, of course, perfect. He can convince a person of nearly any lie he tells.

Name- Rhone "Avarice" Dice
Age- 21
Gender- Male
Background- Not an Alchemist. A high ranking officer under Hughes' command in the military. Avarice is a relatively new recruit to the military, joining shortly before Ed. He is one of Greed's Chimera, his DNA mixed with that from a eagle. Greed had supplied him with the necessary papers and fake background to join the military. He was tested in in Lab 5 with the other of Greed's Chimera. His experimentation went slightly farther than the rest and is more developed with his abilities. He had abandoned his name. Greed named him Avarice due to their similar personalities. He uses an assumed name of Rhone Dice for his identity. No one knows of his true self yet.
He fights with two long daggers, each about as long as his forearm. He is faster and stronger than most humans. His fighting style uses his daggers in synch with his speed. He slashes quickly, being able to rush an opponent and switch between dagger slashes/thrusts and punches/kicks.
Appearance- Avarice is slightly muscular, and a little taller than Hughes. He wears the standard Military uniform with a jacket that is a little too big. He always wear black gloves, hiding human colored talons underneath; His toes are talons, taking almost half of his foot's length. He has white hair that he keeps slicked back underneath his hat. His eyes are gold and perfectly round, resembling an eagle's. When revealing his true nature, his talons become sharper and longer. His hands harden and turn dark while his pinky merges with his ring finger and his middle finger with his index finger. His lips pull back and his teeth turn a light brown, growing and hardening, extending past his lips to form an actual beak.

Introduction:
"To obtain, something of equal value must be lost." ~~The Law of Equivalent Exchange.
The Law of Equivalent Exchange was the law that bound every alchemist. It kept order and gave warning. If that law was broken, there would be a heavy price to pay. Such were the cases that created Homuculi. Laws can be broken; and sometimes, there is no punishment for the offender, and other times, the punishment is too harsh. The cases are always different. There is never justice enough for everyone.
In the case of Julia Avalon, she paid the price of her right arm to try to bring back her dead brother. She thought, however, that what she got in return for said price was not equal at all. She wanted her brother back, but what kind of exchange would she have to make to get what she wanted?
All of these thoughts passed through her mind as Julia treaded the path back towards Central. It had been a while since she had laid foot on Central soil. Her mind was quite occupied and she therefore didn't notice the little girl that called out to her.
"Wait! Please! Can you help me?"
Julia pushed up her hat to see what she was needed for. She looked down at the small girl.
"What do you need?"
"My cat! She's stuck in that tree."
Julia raised her head to look up at the tree. There was indeed as cat high in the tree. She appeared to be very stressed. Julia assumed that she had been chased up the tree by a neighborhood dog.
"Sure, I'll help," Julia agreed. She set her bag on the ground and placed her hat next to it. Seeing no branch that she could reach, Julia clapped her gloved hands together and then placed her palms of the trunk of the tree. A section of the trunk expanded and elongated to become a thick branch.
"Wow," Julia smiled at the girl's soft exclamation.
"Just one second," Julia responded. She swung herself up onto the new branch and then up a couple more. Reaching out her hand to the cat, she stayed otherwise very still. After the cat was safely in her arms, Julia made her way back down the tree.
"Thank you, lady!" The girl said happily as she was given her cat. "But… where's your circle?"
"Well," Julia began, picking up her bag and putting her hat back on. "I don't need one. But don't worry yourself about it. Keep a closer eye on your cat, okay?"
"Yes, lady!" The girl ran off, holding the cat in her arms.
Julia smiled to herself, pushing her hat lower on her head and shouldering her bag. Was the girl calling her a lady because she was older, or because she'd not used a circle? Did not using a circle make her appear older? Julia was briefly confused by the thoughts that the girl had conjured, but they didn't bother her for long; there were more pressing thoughts that she needed to spend her time on.
Like how to get that information on the Philosopher's Stone. I'm no state alchemist so I can't get into that library. But there isn't any other lead that I've got, so I may as well see what I can do here.

We'll be vaguely following the original plot of FMA. We will have subplots and sideplots along the way too. Not everyone will be in the same place at the same time (ex: military won't be with ed and al all the time)

Julia stared at the path as she walked. The early morning sun blocked by her hat. She continued to think of ways to get into Central's library without being a state alchemist. Becoming a dog of the military was the very last thing she would do.

"Good morning, brother," he spoke after a moment. "Why are you up so early?"

Julia chuckled, wondering if she was telling them about how Julia hadn't used a circle. She couldn't understand why people made such a big deal about it.

"We dont want to miss it," Ed managed as he chewes and swallows his food. "Lets not forget anything because we wont have time to come back for it". Ed gathers his things and steps out the door breathing in the fresh air of the new day.

Julia smiled to herself and resumed walking towards Central.

Mustang walked the quiet morning streets of Central, heading for the state alchemist headquaters. He had a feeling that he might have some heavy work to do today.

[Garxena]

Julia found herself in Central before she realized how fast her pace had gotten. She slowed down, internally scorning herself being in a hurry to be back where it all began. She was caught off gaurd when she bumped into a man.
"I'm sorry," She apologized and was even more surprised to find that she'd bumped into a state alchemist, one that she knew very well. "Colonel Mustang, sir! Aren't you supposed to be working?"

"I'm on my way," Mustang answered dryly. "Where have you been for the last year?"

[Garxena]

"Oh... um... You know... Around," Julia said, trying to think up a quick explination for a year of absense.

OOC: Hm... What post # is this? Oh that's right, IT'S 30!! :D

Mustang sighed. "You shouldn't be wandering by yourself. You're parents wouldn't have liked it."

[Garxena]

Julia folded her arms. "They were your subordinates, Colonel, not your friends. I'd appreciate if you didn't talk about them like you knew them inside and out."

Mustang didn't seem to be affected by Julia's sharp retort. He pointed a finger at her right arm. "Is that why you were gone? Don't worry," He added at Julia's concerned expression. "I kept my end of the deal; no one knows about it. There's someone I think you should meet," He added, almost as an afterthought. "I have a feeling he'll be around here soon."

[Garxena]

Julia thought it over for a moment. If she was right, Mustang was insinuating that she should stay with him until this person arrived. It was a good opportunity to get some inside information on the military, and maybe that library. Mustang was the only one who knew the real reason why she had an auto-mail right arm; she trusted him. The two weren't very close, but spending a day with the colonel didn't seem like a bad idea.
"Alright. There's something I'd like to talk to you about anyway."

Mustang motioned towards the state alchemist headquarters. "Tell me on the way."

OOC: I lost the game. >.<

Julia walked with Mustang, trying to think of a way to bring up the subject of the library. "Well... I was wondering if you could do a favor for me..."

"What kind of favor?" Mustang asked, placing his hands in his pockets.

[Garxena]

"The State Alchemist Library," Julia stated. "I heard that there's information in there that I can't find any where else. I was hoping that you could get me access to it."

"Sorry, kid, I can't," Mustang denied. "That library is for state alchemists only. We dogs of the military are very protective."

[Garxena]

Julia sighed at Mustang's bad joke. "That's okay, I guess. I'm sure I'll be able to find that information somewhere else somehow."

"What is it that you're looking for exactly?" Mustang asked.

[Garxena]

"It's just a myth, but I'm going at any chance I can get," Julia murmured. "Something called the Philosopher's Stone."

[AxEL0220]

"Story or not, why are you looking for it?" Mustang glanced down at Julia. "I think you and Edward really do need to meet."

[Garxena]

"Edward?" Julia repeated. "Is that who you're waiting for?"

[AxEL0220]

"I don't think waiting is the right term. He's so short that 'looking' would fit better." Mustang said. "Regardless, what sparked your interest in the Philosopher's Stone?"

[Garxena]

"You of all people should know that," Julia replied quietly.

[AxEL0220]

"You tried once already," Mustang reminded Julia. "Are you willing to risk trying again?"

[Garxena]

Julia was quiet for a moment. Was she willing to risk trying again? She made the mistake so shouldn't she have to fix it?
"I don't know..." She answered the colonel.

Edward heading twards the train station suddenly sneezes."oh man i hate it when people are tlaking about me and i dont know who it is. don you Al?" Approaching the train station Ed passes by a man with black hair and purple eyes and stops shortly after walking past him."Hey Al did you see that man?"

"Um..." Al began uncertainly, ignoring the stares from the people around them at the train station and looking sideways. "Yes, brother... what about him?"

Edwards moves closer to Al so he wont be over heard."It felt as if he was looking down on me...almost as if he was amused at how short i am. What do you think?"

Al glanced at the man again, now several steps behind them.

"I think..." he began quietly, "you should control your temper, brother, and let it go... you are kind of tiny, you know."

Unable to control his anger at being looked down on by a complete stranger and by the comment by AL....Ed claps his hands together and places them on Al's legs."Lets see how you like it then shall we" Ed steps away from Al and boards the train.

"Hey!" Al squealed, his voice cracking as the train's engine and whistle began to roar. "Brother, don't be rude! Fix it now!"

Character Name:Keter the Grand Alchemist
Age:18(so mustang doesnt have to worry about legal issues tee hee!
Story:Keter the grand alchemist is known for his amazing skill in alchemy. He has a vast knowledge in all areas and is able to transmute anything without flaw with only 1 catch... Everything he transmutes turns out VERY large thus giving him the name of the Grand Alchemist.

Keter was pushed into being and alchemist by his family,being told "Your father was a great alchemist and so was his father before him". He has been taugh alchemy at a young age and after ahile accepted that he was going to be an alchemist. Giving in to his chosen path he began to put into his alchemy things that he truly enjoyed in life...such as VERY large building and natural formations, creating his own version of super sized alchemy. Even though Keter is known to love very large objects when it comes to people he is facinated by the vertically challenged. Keter has been assigned by the state to the duties of feild research...in other words he goes where he wants and takes notes on anything he finds owrthy of them.

Stepping up to Al Keter places his and on his leg and returns them to normal as he casually walks by and boards the train not saying a word.

Al stumbled slightly, losing his footing on the uneven platform.

"Hey mister!" he shouted onto the train, but only got several dirty looks from passengers. He sighed, confused, and climbed on board himself.

Al spotted Ed a moment later and went to sit next to him as the train started to move toward East City.

"Guess what?" he asked quietly.

"What are you talking about!?" Ed closes his eyes and falls asleep while the train heads twards East City.

"The man you didn't like," Al explained desperately, sighing when Ed shut his eyes. "The man on the train platform!"

He groaned when Edward didn't answer. "Hey!" he snapped, putting a heavy, metal hand on Ed's shoulder, shaking it roughly. "I'm talking to you, brother! Wake up!"

Maes Hughes put his feet up on the desk in the control room of the train headed toward East City, his arms behind his head, stretched through his hair.

"I think it's time to give Colonel Mustang an important phone call," Hughes sighed to himself, moving one hand onto the desk to grab the phone and lazily dial it with his index finger.

"Come on, Mustang," he muttered, shutting his eyes. "Pick up your damn office phone..."

Opening his eyes Ed looks at Al with a little impatience in them "What are you.....Oh the one that looked at me with that nasty HA HA your so short its cute look!! Where is he?"

Keter moved twards the front glancing at people as he heads tawrds the control room "Well that short one was an interesting fellow... I hope that i get to see him again sometime" Keter said to himself as he reached the control room door.

Looking at his watch Keter opens the door to the control room and gois in sitting down next to another state alchemist on the phone.

"I don't know which car he's on," Al answered. "I don't think he'll want to talk to you, though; he helped me and wouldn't even say 'you're welcome'."

Hughes groaned hung the phone up, Mustang not answering after a minute of ringing. He turned to look at the man sitting next to him and smiled slighty.

"Hello," he muttered, glancing at his friend's state alchemist uniform. "I think we've met before, in Central... Keter, yes?"

Ed looking around for the man but not finding him "Well he is lucky I cant see him or I would give him a peice of my mind!"

Keter looked up at Hughes. "Why yes! I do beleive we have met.. I beleive the last time I spoke with you you mentioned something about your wife being pregnant... how is that going?"

"He was probably looking at me!" Al insisted, pointing to himself. "I mean, I'm the one who doesn't look normal!"

Hughes grinned and sprang his feet off the desk, wheeling his chair around as his hand dove into his shirt pocket, yanking out a wallet-sized picture of his daughter.

"Yes!" he started enthusiastically. "And this is the beautiful baby herself, my lovely, perfect, genius girl Elicia! Isn't she precious? Of course, she's not a baby anymore... she's about to turn two in just eleven days! She's already walking around on her own, and guess what? Guess what her first word was?"

He paused for half a second, not even breathing himself. "Daddy!" he exclaimed, flinging his arms in the air for a moment. "She's so smart, and just the other day... well, you know, if you wanted to see pictures of Gracia pregnant, I have those, too from a few years back. Oh, and even when little Elicia was still a baby, as you mentioned! I cannot tell you how wonderful having a baby is; since she's been born my life has just been amazing!"

Edward giving up on his search turns to Al "For his sake i hope your right...where are we anyway? we should be arriving any time now"Ed moves to the window to look out at where they are.

Not able to get a word in Keter just sits and watches as Hughes goes on and on....and on about his daughter.."Yes she is very...." Keter tries to say something but is cut off before he can even finish a sentence.

Realizing that he probably wont be able to get a word in Keter opens his journal and begins to write in it as he listen to Hughes talk about his amazing daughter.

"We should be there in a few minutes," Al commented, sighing at Edward's temper. "What does Colonel Mustang want to talk to us about?"

Hughes sighed a moment later, turning the picture of Elicia toward himself, winking and smiling at her daughter, who grinned back up at him.

"So..." he began now, noticing how Keter didn't seem too interested anymore. "What business do you have in East City? Reporting back to the Colonel? He's there now, you know."

Ed stood up from the seat and grabbed his things for a quick departure, turning his head to Al "He said he has information on the Phil. Stone, I dont know what kind of information but any is more than what we currently have."

looking back up at Hughes Kete closes his journal. "Oh nothing in particular. I just thought that it was about time to come back and see how things are going before deciding where to go next to continue my "feild" research."

"What do we have to do for him to get the information?" Al asked warily. "The colonel doesn't seem like the one to give away free, secret information."

Mustang looked down at Julia. "As long as you stay out of the paper work."

"Like I'd wanna touch that," Julia grinned. She looked around as she and Mustang entered the large building. She found the business of the military to be fancinating.

BIC: Hughes smiled and nodded. "Anything interesting found?" he asked casually.

Ed moved towards the door to the train as it pulled into the East City station. "I dont know what he wants but i'm sure it wont be cheap." Ed opened the door to the train as it reached a complete stop and stepped off the train onto the east station platform.

Looking around for mustang as the steam from the train trailed in front of him.

"Oh i suppose it depends on what you concider interesting." Keter noting that the train stopped gathered his things and headed for the exit of the train.

Al followed his brother, looking around himself for the alchemist who had helped him.

"We should check the military offices for the Colonel," Al said. "And..." he added, looking up at the sky and the dark clouds starting to form. "It looks like it's going to rain soon."

"Intereting politically, of course!" Hughes laughed, glancing out the window of the control room at all the passengers unloading from the train. "You are a dog of the military, aren't you?"

Mustang led Julia into his office and motioned to a seat that she could sit in. "I'd like to hear what you've been up to for the last year."

Julia flopped in the chair. "It's a really long story."

Looking up at the coulds Ed sighed "Ya your probably right it is going to rain soon we should find the military offices as soon as we can." Ed picks picks a direction a heads forward looking for the military offices.

Keter moved towards the train exit noticing that his short little friend had exited just before him. "Iwonder where he will end up... well i have nowhere in particualar that i must be so i guess i have time" Keter began to casually follow Ed observing his movements.

Al followed his brother, staying just a step behind him. The building on the left of them was surrounded by a large, tall fence.

"Mustang is going to pick on you, you know," Al mentioned carefully, looking down at his brother as they reached the front gates.

"Do you know who he is?" Hughes began a moment later. "Those brothers?"

"Well we will just have to take his crap if thats what it takes to get what we are looking for" Ed looks at his feet and notices a cat rubbing up against it. "Anyway lets get going it starting to rain"

"Alright then," Muistang sighed, giving up. It was no use to argue against a teenage girl; they'd always win.

"A kitten!" Al squeaked happily, kneeling and scooping up the brown cat in his hands. It started to rain slightly now, the drops clinking heavily on Al's armor. "Come here..." he said quietly, quickly putting the kitten inside his chest. "It's cold out here..."

"The Elric brothers," Hughes replied, explaining though he didn't quite understand. "They're off to speak with Colonel Mustang... they are rather interesting, aren't they?"

Feeling he rain comming down harder now Ed moved quickly to the first military looking building he saw and hoped that it was the right one. " Lets get out of this rain quickly before we get soaking wet Al"

"Indeed they are.. i hope that my next destination is the same of theirs... I have a feeling that there is much to be learned from them and what will happen just by being with them" Keter walked along with Hughes following the Elric brother to the military offices.

Julia smiled, proud of herself. "But... if it's not too much, I'd like to know what I missed while I was gone."

"Now that's a long story," Mustang sighed, standing and going to the window to watch the rain. "But, in short, it's all about our newest dog of the military: Edward Elric. And his brother, too, Alphonse."

"Was he the one that you mentioned earlier?" Julia asked.

"The very same," Mustang confirmed.

Al nodded. "Yes, brother," he agreed, opening the gate and leading the way up to the offices. "Mustang does like you," he added as they walked into the building. "Even if he can't see you over his paperwork."

"I don't think Edward Elric will take very kindly to any comments about his height, though," Hughes mentioned. "That's one thing I know about him; if you ean to stay on his good side when you meet him, I mean."

"So he's a state alchemist too, huh? Well what's his title then?" Julia questioned.

[Tana_Panda]

Ed hearing the short comments once again come out of his little brothers....suit claps his hands together and places it on Al's left arm causing it to fall of "Ya he does like me but he will still want something from us" Ed walks ahead and enters the building to the offices.

"Well i will have to keep that in mind then," Keter walking along with Hughes enters the gate to the offices and approaches the building looking at it in awe of the rather large proportions.

"Fullmetal," Mustang answered, turning to face Julia. "I'll leave it to you to tell the difference between the two."

"Colonel," Julia whined. "You're trying to get me in trouble aren't you?"

"Brother!" Al cried, jumping and waving his arm as he bent down to pick up the other one. He sighed, reaching into the small pocket of his apron to pull out a peice of chalk. He started to draw a circle on the stone tile beneath his feet, but found the chalk washed away with each heavy drop of rain that hit the ground.

"Brother!" he squealed again. "Come back here and help me! I can't go in to see the Colonel like this!"

Hughes smiled at the look on Keter's face. "Quite the place, isn't it?" he began. "Not even half as big as the military headquarters in Central, though... hey!" He stopped, motioning his head toward Al, who stood by the gate by himself. "That's one of them there!"

Ignoring Al's cry for help Ed walkes into the offices and began looking for Mustang's office.

Smiling at Al waving his arm twards Ed and calling out for him, Keter walks up to Al camly."May i see that," Keter says motioning twards the arm.

Al nodded happily, handing his arm over to Keter.

"My brother is just joking around," he said in explination. "Major Hughes, how are you?"

Hughes gave Al a small smile. "I'm fine, Alphonse, thank you," he began. "But... I'm not as well as my daughter! Elicia is about to turn two years old, and she's just a gorgeous little girl! Would you like to see a picture?"

Keter grabs the arm being offered to him and holds it up to Al's empty socket. "Well i must say your brother is rather good at what he does,"Keter places his other hand on the arm and the joint and transmutes them back together."There make ssure you can move it and tell how it feels."

Al nodded and moved his fixed arm in circles, flexing and extending it at the joints. He smiled.

"It feels great! Thank you!" Al exclaimed, bowing slightly. "What was your name, sir?"

"I wouldn't say that," Mustange disagreed.

Julia sighed. The colonel had an odd sense of humor.

Finding Mustangs office Ed bangs on the door and waits for a reply.

"The name is Keter and you i assume are Al" Keter reaches into his pocket and pulls out his notebook. "You and your brother are an interesting pair," Keter casually opens the notebook and scribles something into it.

"We saw you at the train station," Al commented. "You helped me and I didn't get a chance to thank you!"

"Come in," Mustang raised his voice enough to reach the other side of the door.

Julia turned in her chair to see who it was.

"Shall we talk inside, then?" Hughes suggested. "It's much warmer and drier."

Ed opened the door and entered walking without concern and sitting in the nearest chair. "Ah that feels much better"

Julia looked over at the newcomer. So this must be Edward Elric. Which means that he's the Fullmetal Alchemist. Huh... I wonder why the Fuher gave him that as his title. He looks to short to be called Fullmetal...

Al nodded in agreement, leading the way through the gates and into the main building.

"My brother is going to Colonel Mustang's office," Al began. "He wanted to speak with us."

"His East City office is just around this corner," Hughes commented, pointing in the right direction.

"Ofcoarse i am here, you have information that i need dont you?" Ed looking over at Julia for the first time taking note at how she held her right arm differently.

"Edward, this is Julia Avalon," Mustang introduced. "She's an alchemist as well. The information that I have is for both of you. But where is your brother, Edward?"

Julia looked away from Edward and back at Mustang, interest and shock clear on her face. So he was going to tell her about the Philosopher's Stone? What else could it be?

Al nodded in agreement, and then stopped in his tracks, a muffled meow echoing from his chest.

"Umm..." Al began, wrapping his arms around himself. "Which way to the office?"

"What was that, Alphonse?" Hughes asked as they walked.

"Oh Al? he should be here shortly." Edward turning his attention twards Julia,"Nice to meet you Julia, I take it your after the Phil. Stone too? (OOC: Ya thats right Phil. Stone get over it!)

Keter hearing the meow comming from inside of Al's body smiles to himself as they approach Mustangs office with the door already opened.

BIC: "That's right," Julia answered. "I just found out about it and it seems like the right way to go about things, so I'm going to give it all I've got."

Mustang motioned for Keter, Hughes, and Alphonse to come in.

"There you are, brother!" AL exclaimed as he stuck his head into Mustang's office. "Oh... hello, Colonel. Did I miss anything? I brought some friends!"

"Afternoon, Colonel," Hughes said, stepping in and walking over to the window in the office and resting his weight on the sill.

Looking back at Mustang Ed gives him a serious look. "I think its about time you tell me what you want from me for this information."

"We were waiting for you, Alphonse," Mustang said after giving Hughes a small nod of greeting. "To get straight to the point, I've recieved word that Brigadeir General Basque Gran will be coming here shortly. Edward, you should check out the State Library before he gets here. Take Alphonse and Julia with you. They'll be able to reach the higher shelves."

Al put one hand against Mustang's desk, covering his mouth with the other as he giggled at the Colonel's last comment.

"What is that supposed to mean?! You calling me short!?" Unable to hold his rage Ed clamps his hands toghther and places them on Al's chest transmuting a very large hole to form in his back causing all the kitties that Al had stuck inside his body to pour out ontop of Mustang. "I'll see you all in the library" Ed said as he stormed out fo the room.

Smiling to himself Keter remains silent and continues to write in his journal.

Al cried out and quickly scooped up all the kittens off of Mustang's lap and his desk.

"I'm sorry, Colonel!" he squeaked, pushing the kittens back inside his armor. "It was raining... and they were all so cold and lonely..."

Mustang made a face at the kittens and gave a small smile at Julia who was trying her hardest to not laugh. "Al, you're going to have to put these cats back."

"Aw, c'mon, colonel," Julia said, giggling. "Don't you just love cats? You should keep 'em."

"We've already got a puppy here at the base," Mustang told Julia. "Ask someone around town to take them before you go to the library."

Hughes smiled, but frowned once more when Edward left the room.

"Your brother is very tempermental," he muttered aloud. "And a little ungrateful of his luck."

"Fullmetal..." Julia murmured seriously. She looked at Alphonse. "So your brother is the Fullmetal Alchemist? Why does he have that title?"

Storming out of the offices Ed exits the main building and heads over to the library

Keter unable to hold it back any more lets out a small giggle as Al picks a cat offf Mustangs head and stuffs it back inside."He is full of surprises now isnt he" Keter says to no one in particular.

"Well, it's easy to call me the Fullmetal Alchemist because... well, look at me!" Al laughed, several kittens popping their heads out of the hole in his chest and meowing in agreement. "But my brother Edward is the state alchemist here... I'm just with him, helping."

Mustang sighed. "You'd best go after Edward. And take the cats with you."

"Well, Colonel, if you don't have an assignment for me, I'd like to start back toward Central to see my family," Hughes commented.

"I don't have anything for you, Hughes," Mustang affirmed. He bent down and picked up a white box with a pink bow on it from under his desk. "This is for your daughter."

"You two must get confused by people a lot," Julia smiled sympathetically.

Quickly finding the library Ed flashes his watch and enters determined to find out anything he can about the Phil. Stone (OOC: Oh yes i smile everytime I say Phil. Stone)

"I've got Havoc and Breda working overtime for a prank they pulled," Mustang said smugly. "You can take a leave, Keter."

"Sometimes," Al nodded, pulling out his chalk once more and drawing a circle on the metal boarding of Mustang's office floor, fixing the hole in his chest. "Another thing that makes him angry..."

"Why thank you!" Hughes exclaimed, taking the package from Mustang. "Elicia will be very happy and will love to see you next time you visit!"

[Garxena]

"He's got a temper," Julia muttered. "Well I'll be sure not to make any remarks about his height then." She smiled at Al. "Do you want help carrying those cats?"

"And, Hughes," Mustang began. "This time you really can take a break. There's no need for research about that during your daughter's birthday."

Diving into the library ed begins to create stack after stack of book on a table in the back."Yes and need to read this... OH and this!!!! AND THIS!"

"Thank you Mustang.. Well i will be on my way now." Keter looks around to make sure he is not forgeting anything and exits the room heading towards the exit.

"Miss Julia," Al began, looking to the girl. "Are you headed to the library as well? I don't have a way to get in now that my brother has left me."

"One more thing, Julia," Mustang walked over to her and slipped an object into her pocket. "Don't tell anyone about it."

Julia looked at the object in her pocket, her eyes widening at it. "Understood, colonel." She agreed and then looked back at Alphonse. "Yeah, I'm going there now."

Hughes frowned slightly, but then looked at Al and Julia and made his huge, happy smile return.

"Of course, Colonel!" he exclaimed, and turned to Al and Julia. "Good luck; I'm sure I'll see you all around!"

Walking around town Keter noticed some kids playing on a small playground."How are you all doing, Would you like a bigger playground to play on?" Keter asked the children as they all responded with happy screams of "YES!!"Keter approaching the monkey bars and the metal dome places his hands on them and SUPER sizes them."There you go kids have fun!"Keter wandered with nowhere in particular to go and eventually ended up[ at the library steps. Deciding to take a break he sat in the shade of a pillar and closed his eyes.

"Thank you!" Al smiled, nodding to Mustang and opening the door for Julia.

"So..." he asked as they walked. "Can I ask what happened to your arm? It looks like my brother's."

"It was bad judgement," Julia looked down at her arm. "I tried a taboo alchemy.... You see... my brother died a while back... and it was my fault..." She grit her teeth, holding back tears. "That's why I'm looking for the Philosopher's Stone."

"Oh, my," Al gasped quietly as they left the military building and headed toward the library. "I'm sorry, Miss Julia. I know a lot of people say this, but I do know how you feel."

Background:
Claire has lived in Central her whole life, having several relatives in the military headquarters there. They've occasionally had her kill for much larger sums of cash, but she rarely takes these jobs.

She and her older brother live alone, their parents having died of illness when they were both younger. Although she has all the skills to belong in the military, she has no interest in being a dog of the state, even though she personally knows some of the top officers.

Claire has been doing some under-the-table work for the military for the last three years, exploring the nearby cities as a citizen for any illegal activities. She gets paid for any information she bring back to the officials, enough to help her and her brother pay rent and food bills every month. Basically, Miss Lyon is knowledgable of any local underground information, as well as the locations of many different organizations and people.

She lives in Central still right now, waiting for another call from the Colonel's office or higher up, telling her what to do to get some extra money... and information.

Ed totally consumed into his books reading about different types of alchemy circles and different chemical compositions of items completly oblivious that he had left Al behind with no way in."Oh so thats what i have i have been missing for that!"

Claire walked got off the train at the East City station, pulling her long, black cloak tighter around her neck as the wind blew and the rain picked up slightly.

I wonder what Major Hughes has for me this time? she thought to herself, pulling the man's letter out the shoulder of her shirt, the paper stained and bleeding slightly by the rain. "Miss Lyon-- I need someone to travel to East City to investigate some curious behavior that may be threatening the military. Contact me at the local inn when you arrive..."

Claire sighed and pushed the letter back into her shirt, she looked around and smiled at the nearby children playing on the playground.

"That's odd..." she thought aloud, her eyes fixed on the playground through the rain. She tilted her hood back as a few peices of her long, blonde hair flew out of it and into her eyes. "That playground used to be smaller, I think..."

Claire was about to turn and head around to the inn when something caught on her feet, tripping up her black boots and causing her to fall over on her hands and knees.

"Ouch! What the hell?" she groaned, sitting up in a puddle and turning to look at what she'd tripped over and gasped when she saw the man sitting at the base of the pillar she'd walked by, feet extended in front of him.

Opening his eyes becasue someone had tripped on his legs."Oh i'm sorry miss let me help you up," Keter said as he stood up and held his hand out for her.

Claire shook her hands to get the muddy rainwater off of them and wiped them on her miniskirt, sighing.

"I'm fine, thanks," she muttered, standing up on her own. "What the hell are you doing sitting on the floor by yourself?"

Putting his hand back down to his said and looking this strange girl in the eyes."Oh i was taking a nap! You see i rode the train here and i didnt sleep on the way so i figured that i would just sit here and take a nap...so i did"

Claire laughed lightly, flashing the man a small smile. "Smart of you, wasn't it?" she spoke happily, rolling her eyes a little. "Taking a nap under a rainy roof where people walk. You know there are inns and places you can sit and have a drink by a fire instead of sleeping out here."

Looking at the young lady with a confused look,"But that would cost me money... and besides i prefer to be outside its sooo refreshing wouldnt you agree?"

Claire gave the man in front of her an odd look, though she couldn't help but smile.

Pulling the hood of her cloak higher on her head so her hair wouldn't get wet, she turned slightly, keeping her gaze on the man's eyes that were a shade of purple very similar to her own.

"It won't cost you anything if I buy the drink," she said, giving him a small wink now.

Taking a moment to think about what this strange girl was saying he finally ended up with"Whats your name, and then maybe we can go have a drink" He said with a smile.

"It's Claire," she began slowly, unsure if she should really give away her real name. For some reason she seemed comforable with speaking freely with the man in front of her. "Claire Lyon... and you?"

[Tana_Panda]

Smiling,"that is a beautiful name Claire, My name is Keter. So how about we find someplace to get that drink, did you have anywhere in particular in mind?"

[misamisa]

She smiled. "There's an inn," Claire started, and then cut off "that I need to go to" from the end of her sentence.

He doesn't need to know that, she thought to herself. Not right now...

"Just a few blocks from the library," she continued, motioning for him to follow her. "So..." she began after a moment. "What do you do?"

[Tana_Panda]

"Oh me? i'm just a wonderer that just goes from town to town... wherever the wind blows me if you will" Keter states as he begins to follow Claire.

[misamisa]

"Sounds like it earns a lot of money," Claire laughed as they passed the library. "I can see why you nap under cold roofs in the rain."

[Tana_Panda]

"Well i told you that i like it outside, its amazing how much you can witness and learn just by spending a little extra time outside observing people and what they do" Keter said placing his hand in his bag and making sure that his journal is still in there.

[misamisa]

"I see," Claire nodded, walking up to the local inn that Hughes has specified. She opened the door and stepped inside, happy to throw back her hood and let her hair fall out along her back in the warm air. She stepped over to the bar, the inn's main floor not very crowded in the afternoon.

"So you... observe," Claire clairified as she signaled the man behind the bar to come over to her.

"Well isnt every wanderer an observer? i mean if one spends his days traveling which ever way the wind blows they are bound to see and obtain many details of information about many different things wouldnt you agree?" Keter steps inside of the in and shifts his body slightly to casue his coat to shake slightly knocking the water off of it.

Claire nodded, running her hands through her hair and crossing her legs. "You're a very intriguing, interesting man," she began, looking around her instead of at Keter. "Otherwise I would have done much worse than swear at you out there."

[Tana_Panda]

Keter sitting down and smiling at Claire,"I'm glad you find me interesting.. not too many people take kindly to wanderers, which i am sure you can understand." Keter looks up at the barmaid as she walks up and orders 2 pints for Clair and himself.

Claire thanked the girl for her drink and took a sip, sighing. "It's easy to take a liking to someone similar to yourself," she commented.

[Tana_Panda]

"Oh really,"Keter said a little surprised."Then what is it that you do if you dont mind me asking?"

[misamisa]

"I work," Claire said vaguely, but then opened her mouth to continue: "I... well, are you involved in the military?"

[Tana_Panda]

"involved with the military"Keter repeated back before looking at her."Well i guess you could say that i work for the military yes. I mean i am a state alchemist but mostly a wanderer."

[misamisa]

"Ah, so you are a state alchemist!" Claire sighed. "I thought you had that hidden under your belt... I only asked because the military is where I get my income."

[Garxena]

"I doubt it," Julia replied. "You're big and strong, and you've got that armor to protect you." She paused. "Isn't it uncomfortable to have all those cats in there with you?"

"Umm..." Al began uncertainly. "Well... there's not much to me, Miss Julia."

"So you just wear that big armor to scare enemies?" Julia guessed.

[mrsbaggins]

"I lost my body," Al began, hanging his head slightly. "My brother and I tried... taboo alchemy... it didn't turn out so well."

[Garxena]

Julia's eyebrows knitted in thought for a moment. Thinking back on what the colonel had told her, and how Edward had performed alchemy without a circle, just like herself.
"Your brother has seen the gate too," She murmured. "I tried to bring back my brother... Who did you try to bring back?"

[mrsbaggins]

"My..." Al began, and choked slightly. "Our mother... she died, and Ed and I tried... we failed, and I lost my body because of it. But my brother gave up his limb to attach my soul to this suit of armor. I'm... I'm sorry about your brother."

[Garxena]

"You two must be very close," Julia said softly, putting her gloves as she and Al got outside. "I was too wrapped up in alchemy to notice my brother getting into trouble. I almost gave up alchemy after he was killed... But then I found out about Human Transmutations... It didn't go so well after that...."

[mrsbaggins]

"I know what that's like," Al agreed, nodding somberly. "We studied so hard... and now we're looking for the same thing you are, no doubt."

[Garxena]

"The Philosopher's Stone," Julia breathed. "It's real... I know it. But... if it is, and we find it... I think you two should use it first."

"That's what my brother would insist if you wanted to help us!" Al exclaimed, happy to have a new friend. "It would be great to have you with us, too, if we get different leads and have to separate; we can cover more ground. Oh, I'm excited now!"

Julia smiled. She had a feeling that Al would soon become like a second brother to her.
"I think I'm going to enjoy this too. We'll have to thank Mustang later," She stopped in front of the library steps. Her hand disappeared inside her pocket for a moment. She pulled out a state alchemist watch and showed it to the guard. He let her and Al pass. Julia looked up at Al and winked.
"It's helpful to have friends in the military."

Al nodded vigorously, following Julia closely. He looked around for his brother but couldn't see him at first.

"He's not easy to spot," Al giggled to Julia.

"Oh so you work for the militarty too," Keter said somewhat beginning to slur his words after finishing his first pint and ordering another.

Claire nodded and smiled at the sound of Keter's voice. "Yes," she clarified aloud. "I'd guess you could, bluntly, call me a mercenary; right now I'm working under General Hughes, gathering information at different locations.

Keter looks up at Claire as he hears Hughes name,"Ah Hughes!! I know him a good man.. well good company for a long train ride anyway." Keter head seems to be gettung heavy as the alchohol sets in just in time for the barmaid to show up with the second round. Keter takes the pint happily and takes a rather large swig from it.

Claire nodded, grabbing her own glass now. "Talks about Elicia non-stop, I bet?" she asked with a grin.

Hearing Claires comment Keter let out a rather drunken giggle."Ah yes well i only listened to about half of it before I tuned him out and just read and wrote in my journal.

Claire shut her eyes and thought for a moment, not wanting to actually pull out Hughe's note and re-read what he'd told her right now.

"I know his little girl," she spoke aloud. "Elicia and I have been friends since she was born. But..." Claire added, reaching over and placing her fingers on top of his hand. "I bet that's the last thing you want to hear about right now."

[Garxena]

"He's got to be with the books on the Philosopher's Stone," Julia said to Al as she looked at all the books. "If we find those, we'll find him."

[Tana_Panda]

"Well, it is a rather long and time consuming topic" Keter said looking at Clair's hand on his "And it would be a shame to not hear it from Hughes himself... He tells it oh so well!" Keter finishing his second pint orders another.

"Okay," Al agreed, and followed the signs in the library. He smiled when he saw his older brother sitting by a bookshelf surrounded by tons of books, half open and on the ground next to him.

"Brother!" Al exclaimed, running forward and diving on top of Ed, wrapping his arms tightly around his neck. "I missed you! I can't believe you left me!"

Claire nodded. "Elicia really is an amazingly cute little girl, but I think every military officer in Central has heard that a million times. I've lived there my entire life, even as my family has decreased in size slightly..." She stopped herself now, moving her hand away from Keter's, surprised she had even mentioned anything about her family life.

Shut up, she chided herself mentally. You want information about him then don't say anything about yourself unless he asks.

Ed caught up in his book didnt even notice Al until the giant suit of armor his brother was wraping his arms around him a choking him."Ugh!!! Al what are you doing!? where have you been?"

Catching Clair's surprise at revealing such information Keter was too drunk and too cunning to make visable note of it.... Instead Keter managed after receiving his third pint and finishing it rather quickly."I HAVE AN IDEA!!!! come with me!!!"

"Where have I been?" Al repeated, finally letting go of Ed and sitting on his knees next to him. "I've been in Colonel Mustang's office with a hole in my chest where you left me alone... rather rudely, brother! Please try to control your temper next time; I was very embarrassed!"

Claire giggled and rolled her eyes. "I don't think so," she said seriously, grabbing Keter's arm to make sure he stayed in his seat. "You're really in no condition to run off right now. I think it'd be best if you stayed here."

[Tana_Panda]

"Oh you werent right behind me?!" Ed looking at Al to see if the hole remained "Well atleast everythign got fixed, sorry for using you to get at Mustang"

Being pulled back Keter looks Claire in the eyes and tells her in a steady tone "Trust me lets go and it will be a good day indeed"

"It's okay, brother," Al sighed. "I forgive you for being so mean... oh, and this is Miss Julia, remember?" Al added, motioning to the girl standing behind them. "She's here to help us. Isn't it great?"

"I..." Claire began, remembering that Hughes had told her to contact him as soon as she arrived at the inn. "I kind of have some business I need to do today..."

[Tana_Panda]

Ed now noticing Julia standing there after being told,"How do you do Julia? My name is Edward we didnt exactly get to meet in Mustangs office sorry about that."

"Oh with who? if you have time i was going to go back to the offices and show Hughes just how much i love hearing about his daughter." Keter said as he once again stood up and slowly headed for the door stumbling a few times on the way.

"I really don't think the Colonel or the Major would or should see you like this if you're a state alchemist," Claire reminded Keter quickly. "If you want to speak with Hughes... well... acutally, I need to talk to him." She paused, standing up and thinking: What the hell? If he gets in trouble for getting drunk, I didn't force anything... just paid the bill.

"If you promise to behave we can go back to the military offices," she finished, pulling some money out of her pocket and placing it at the bar. "Understood?"

[Tana_Panda]

Rolling his head and lookling back at Claire,"Sounds like a deal... i'll lead the way!" Keter turn and steps out the door and starts swaying and stumbling twards the offices.

Claire quickly followed the man, making sure she stayed half a step behind him. I meant to get him to talk freely, not run around to the military officials! she thought angrily. This isn't working...

[Fracture]

As the daylight started to disappear in centeral, noises were heard coming from the ally behind the library. After awhile, a man apperared in the street, it was scar! And his left arm was missing, but not his right. "I must find the old lady named Pinaco that fullmetal mentioned, first i must find ou where he and his brother are."

[Garxena]

"It's no problem," Julia assured Edward, smiling. She looked at the piles of books that he had on the floor with him. "You sure got ahead of business." She put the state alchemist watch back into her pocket.

Al picked up the books nearest to him and carefully flipped through the pages.

"You'd think Mustang would be a little more specificly helpful," Al sighed.

[Garxena]

"That's the colonel for you," Julia sighed, sitting down. "He never gets too specific."

[Tana_Panda]

Well it seems that it isnt as easy to come in here and just look for books on the stone. i have found a few refrences that MIGHT refer to the stone but nothgin that actually talks about it" Ed said gesturing his hands twards the stack of books he had been looking through earlier.

Finally reaching the offices and passing through the gate into the courtyard Keter stopped and pulled a few items of stone and normal looking dirt and dropped them on the ground."Ah we finally made it," Keter said to Claire as he grabbed a canteen of water out of his pack and drank nearly all of it."Now to just get our main man Hughes out here. HUGHES!!!"Keter yelled trying to get his attention to come outside.

[Garxena]

"That's what I expected," Julia murmured, flipping through the pages of another book. "Seeing as the Philosopher's Stone is such a powerful, and dangerous, thing, it's no wonder that the books don't mention it specifically."

[mrsbaggins]

Al frowned and decided to keep silent, thinking to himself. He jumped once again when several meows echoed out of his chest. He wrapped his arms around himself and laughed nervously.

Hughes stopped his conversation with Mustang and turned to the window. He looked out it and saw Keter there with a girl that he recognized all too well.

What is she doing with him? he thought, confused.

He sighed and and turned to the Colonel for a moment, muttering "Excuse me for a second," before opening the window.

"Can I help you two?" he shouted down. "We're talking about some important things up here."

S.hit, Claire swore in her head, noticing the look Hughes was giving her. She kept silent, folding her arms and shrugging just slightly to let the Major subtly know she had no clue what was going on.

[Garxena]

Julia supressed a giggle, remembering that she and Al hadn't gotten rid of the kittens like the colonel had told them to.

Mustang joined Hughes at the window, looking down at the two below the window. "Things'll never settle down around here."

[Tana_Panda]

Taking note that Keter had Hughes FULL attention as well as others attention. Keter smiles at Hughes and waves frantically making sure that Hughes sees him. "Hughes!! I have a present for you!!!" Keter drunkenly yells. And with no further delay Keter places both his hands on the ground and begins a transmutaion. "Your going to love this!!" Keter yells as the transmutation begins to finish kicking up a rather LARGE dust storm blocking anyone from seeing the finished product. "There you go! I hope you like it!" Keter manages to say as the alchohol finally claims him and he falls back passed out just as the dust settles revealing a VERY LARGE stone statue of Hughes daughter standing much taller than the offices in which Hughes is in.

Hughes jumped and grinned, clapping his hands and laughing. "Impressive!" he shouted to the unconscious Keter, trying to ignore Mustang's disapproving stare next to him. "Although... I'm not sure what to do with it... I know! I'll bring Elicia over to see it before the Colonel detroys it."

Claire rolled her eyes and sighed. What on earth am I supposed to do with him now? she thought, exasperated.

Claire knelt next to Keter and tapped his shoulder tenatively. "Hey!" she whispered sharply. "What the hell is wrong with you? Mustang is going to be so angry... wake up!"

Annoyed, Mustang held his fingers ready to snap; the last thing he wanted outside his office was a giant statue of Hughes's daughter.

[Garxena]

Carefully, Julia pulled out the state alchemist watch that Mustang had given her and hid it behind the book that she was searching through. She flipped a page to make it look like she was reading, but her eyes were gazing on the intricacy of the watch rather than the words of the book.

[mrsbaggins]

"It's pretty," Al commented, easily seeing over Julia's shoulder and the book she was holding. "I like it."

[rusty_rocks]

"You could let my little, adorable, perfect, beautiful, amazing daughter Elicia at least see her birthday present before you destroy it, couldn't you, Colonel?" Hughes ranted at Mustang now, turning to face him.

[Garxena]

"But why did Mustang give it to me?" Julia sighed, setting down the book and examining the watch closer. "He knows that I have no interest in being a dog of the military... It's what got my parents killed. Besides, I don't need an alchemic amplifier either."

[Tana_Panda]

Taking a quick glance at the watch but paying no real attention to it Edward continued to look through his books."The watch could just be to let you get into the library. Did you ever think of that?"

Keter moving lightly to become more comfortable lets out a rather large snore.

[Garxena]

"I did," Julia answered. "It's just that... Well, with Mustang said, I think he wants me to keep it."

Al smiled. "That's a good thing!" he insisted. "It's very pretty and people will like you for it."

Mustang grumbled something and dropped his hand. "That better be soon, Lieutenant."

[Garxena]

"It is well crafted," Julia agreed with Al. "But don't you think I'll get in trouble for having it since I'm not a state alchemist myself?"

Claire sighed once again, and grabbed the side of Keter's face, slapping him hard with her other hand.

"Hey!" she snapped. "Get up! I'm not leaving you in the middle of the city asleep on your back!"

"If you have the Colonel's permission... no," Al reasoned. "I mean... you said he insisted on you having it, so... it'll be okay."
