Genesis Control Converter Codes
I got confused on some code's controls, so I'll make this, just in case for any future mix-ups!
Playstation 2 controls

Sonic the Hedgehog 1
Level Select: At title screen, press Up, Down, Left, and Right. The sound of a
ring will confirm correct code entry. Hold down A and press Start to access
the level select menu.
Debug Mode: Press Up, C, Down, C, Left, Right, C in the title screen. The sound of a ring will
confirm correct code entry. Hold A and press Start. Coordinates will appear in
place of your score. The game buttons will change, enabling you to change into
items/enemies, place items/enemies, and toggle between different kinds of
items/enemies.
Sonic the Hedgehog 2
Level Select
From the main screen, select Options. Select Sound Select and play sounds 19, 65, 9, 17, then push C. Press Start to return to the main screen, and when Sonic and Tails appear, hold A and press Start.
Debug Mode
To enter Debug Mode, play these sounds from the level select screen: 1, 9, 9, 2, 1, 1, 2, 4. Press Start and hold A. To start debugging, press B, then you can select any sprite in that level and put it on the screen. To select a different sprite, press A, and to place it on the screen, press C. Note that sprite selection is different from Zone to Zone. Also, instead of displaying the time elapsed, it displays the number of sprites currently on the screen
All Chaos Emeralds: Enable both level select and debug mode codes. From level
select menu, play sounds 3, 4, 1, 2, 6. The fanfare of a Chaos Emerald being
collected will confirm correct code entry. Highlight any level, hold A, and
press Start. You will begin game play with all seven Chaos Emeralds already
collected.
Sonic The Hedgehog 2and Knuckles
Debug Mode: At the Knuckles in Sonic 2 title screen, press Up(3), Down(3), Left, Right, Left, Right. When the chime signal sounds, hold Square and press Start.
Debug Mode: Enter the "Sound Test" screen. Choose sounds 1, 9, 9, 4, 1, 0, 1, 8 (in that order). Highlight a level, then press X + Start.
All Chaos Emeralds: Enter the "Sound Test" screen. Choose sounds 1, 6, 7, 7, 7, 2, 1, 6 (in that order).

Level Select: After Sega logo appears, press Up(x2), Down(x2), and Up(x4). The

enter the level select menu. Flying Battery and Mushroom Island zones, while
shown, cannot be selected as they were not put in the final game and can only
be found in Sonic & Knuckles.
Level Select: Enable level select. From the level select menu, highlight any

At the Start of Level 1, Angel Island, go to a vine and press Left{x3}, Right{3}, and then Up{x3}. You should hear a ring chime, and then hold A and press Start. In order to activate, hold A and press Start again and, you should, be in the level select screen
Debug Menu
When at the Level Select Screen, select "Mushroom Hill Act 1". Then, continue on 'till the rachet machine appears. Go on it, and press the combination likewise for the level select unlockable. A ring Chime should come again, and press A + Start on level select in your place to choose to activate
A = Switch items
B = Switch On/Off
C = Place
Sonic 3D Blast
Level Select: B, A, Right, A, C, Up, Down, a, and Start at the "Press Start"
screen. When you start the game, the level select screen will open.
Level Skip: After enabling level select, pause game play and press A at any
time to skip to the next level.

Tips, Tricks, and glitches
Sonic The Hedgehog 2
How to get Tails' original name; Miles: At the title screen, press Up(3), Down(3), Up. If you entered the code correctly, you will hear a sound. Tails' name will be changed to "Miles".
Super Sonic and Super Tails Together: Before I start, this could be really handy for 2 player mode, so that tails could catch up! Here's the step-by-step instructions.
MUST HAVE: Debug and Level select codes, and all of the emeralds!
1. Have, preferably 100, rings
2. Go Super Sonic. (Wow, never saw that coming xD)
3. Debug into a T.V. set, it should be the "teleportation" power up
4. Hit it, then you have the appearence of Super Sonic, but Tails has the power and speed of super sonic.
5. Hurt Yourself to turn back into sonic, Tails should still be super.
6. Get 50 rings back, transform.
Wa-laa! You have a super team xD
Stronger Super Sonic: Here are the steps for having a supersonic form with higher jump and faster speed, but you need level select, debug mode, and all emeralds...
1.Go to Oil Ocean, either act.
2. Go SuperSonic
3. Find a greenish-Yellowish Colored cylinder
4. Break it, but as soon as you break it, go into debug mode
5. You should be thrusting upward, once you get traction, exit debug mode
You now have a mega super sonic for the whole act!
Play as Ashura?!?!?
Hardly unreconizable, but ashura is sonic's brother. It's really a glitch, but it's weird. You need Debug Mode and Level Select.
1. Use debug mode, transform into a ring.
2. press [] 4 times, into an invisible object which is a waterfall
3. Place A TON of waterfalls near the start of the game, when you find the "Coconuts" enemy
4. look at the life counter, it should look like Ashura's, when this happens, revert into "Sonic"
Bonus Time Points: This could help you if your looking for more lives or more points!
