KHV: Server Problems?

Hey everyone, I'm not sure what's going on with KHV lately, but looks like we are or were having problems. This update is being made in regard to me not having access to KHV at my own computer. Three days ago, the server wasn't properly working and it only lasted for a few hours. I was informed from some of you guys, but later access was given to you.

For the past three days, I've been clearing my internet options, shutting my computer and modem off and restarting/repairing it. No matter how many times I try to fix it, my computer is only recognizing KHV for the server being down that one day.

The only access I have to KHV is during classes, but that doesn't give me enough time to update and translate for information. We are only a month and two weeks away from the release of Kingdom Hearts: 358/2 Days. This is not a good time for me not to be here, but I really can't do much.

The fandub production for KHV is still going on. For those of you that have roles, please send them into me before May 1st. As for everyone else, the promo video that I'm working on is really neat and I can't wait to show you guys.

By the way, I'll do my best to get on here and do what I can during school hours. An edit will be updated on here once I have access.

Edit (May 2nd): The problem started mid-April. It appears after two weeks of no connection on KHV, access was given today. For those of you that had the problem and are using a proxy, make sure you try the url again. Thanks NeoCloudstrife for letting me know.

Thanks for letting us know what was going on. I haven't seen any errors or anything that even hinted that this was going on, but I'll be sure to let someone know if that changes.

Apparently I couldn't get on for a few hours, which means my computer was either fixing the site, or doing something else while I stayed off for that few hours...which was like, three hours.

When my friend told me he couldn't get on at his house it was driving me insane that I couldn't figure out why. I feel better that I know it's a server error but now this is just a wierd.

What I find strangest about this is that it's selective, not general. To my knowledge some IPs can't even find the site, some are lagging, and are running perfectly. I guess it could be the strangest result of a bandwidth issue I've seen. Or maybe there is some kind of filter on IPs?

And the people who can't get on, it's as if KHV doesn't exist to those computers instead of the classic DBE. So I really don't know what to think about it.

Exactly. It appears that everyone who can't get access on KHV is due to the computer remembering the day that the website had server issues. I just can't understand why we can't fix it. I've been either using the computers at school or accessing it at my house with a proxy. If I don't use a proxy at my house, I won't be able to access the website.

It definately has to do with IPs. On top of your being able to get here through a proxy, a friend of mine said that he couldn't get on at either computer at his house and their connected by a router which means they have the same IP.

Have you tried running a trace route from your computer to see how far the connection gets before it fails? I would be willing to bet it would either fail at the first or last hop, but I'm still curious.

But when i switch to a different Wireless server, other then mine, it works fine...

I am also using a proxy to get on the site, other then my home computer, it works fine everywere else...

for about 2 or 3 weeks, i couldn't get on this site apart from the video portal. and today it FINALLY fixed!!!

did anyone do anything today that fixed something?

the weird thing was, i could look at the page source code, but not the page itself. on any browser O.o
and it appeared to be ONLY my internet.

Plus, I checked (a few days ago, when mine wasn't working either) to see if I could get on from another computer, and it didn't work. Everything seems to be okay now though.

Well while you guys were having problems I was logging in everyday. I am using Mozilla Firefox 3.5 (3.5 b4 at the time). Not only that but I am not on a proxy. Maybe try other browsers if this happens again. (NOTE TO THE ADMIN: Try iWeb hosting, They have a 99.9% up time and they are CHEAP!! The bandwidth is huge and the space is to. Check it out.)

The server hasn't been acting up (at least for me) lately. It's not your browser that matters (or as far as I know), it's the fact that right now we're on a pretty cheap server. We'd love to get a better one but we're at the mercy of spdude, and if you've ever read anything having to do with improving the site [or talked to a disgruntled staff member] you'll know the situation with him.

Every once in a while, I'll click a link to a thread or try to refresh the page, and it won't load. If I exit out of the browser and go back however, it usually works, so It's probably just my computer.

The user portal IS down though, but I believe that's for everyone.
