I just got KHIIFM+ today, but my Swap Magic disk is being a pain, and the message "Not a valid PS2 disc" appears every time I try to put the game in.

I've looked up tutorials on YouTube that show me how to do it, but it just doesn't seem to work. If any of you have the game and Swap Magic, would you mind helping me?

What do you mean by "sliding"? Keep in mind I have one of those slim PS2's (don't want to sound rude).

Sounds easy enough. ^_^ Thanks. But then there's the whole "Not a valid PS2 disc" thing. Do you have any idea what that means?

what game are you trying to play?

is it the original copy or a burned copy?

what region is it? ( ex. PAL NTSC/ J )

For the Slim Ps2, use this

Here (http://www.ultimateconsoleguides.com/MagicSwitch.htm). Scroll to the last selection.

Kingdom Hearts II Final Mix+, Original Copy, NTSC/J. Thanks for trying to help :)

Okay, thanks. I think I'll have to buy the small parts separately, because I already have the disks. Other than that, I think the disks work pretty well, expect for the "valid disc" thing.

First, you need to check what model # your slim is.

It's located on the underside of your PS2. Look for something like this:

SCPH 7xxxxx

If it's a 7000x, you have a V12, if it's anything higher than that, you have a V13-16.

V12s have the easiest installation and require either XCM Slim Tool Pro or any Magic Switch Pro version that is below version 3. V13-16 Slims require Magic Keys II, or XCM Slim Tool Pro or Magic Switch Pro V3, but most stick with Magic Keys.

Be warned that V13-16 PS2 Slims can have frustrating installation experiences with the Magic Keys II--as usually the modified third tool can sometimes be a hit and miss in regards to installation. Some find it easy and others don't. The reason is because any slight manufacturing error in the third tool can severely hamper its function and effectiveness.

Try looking through this thread (http://kh-vids.net/showthread.php?t=7256) for instructions and diagrams.

The reason you need these tools are because the Swap Magic disc needs to be swapped with the game disc while the 'lid is still closed'. These tools are designed to fool your PS2 into thinking it's still closed, and allow you to make the switch seamlessly.

Thank you so much! Hopefully this will fix my problem. One last thing: will this do?

That looks more like one of the earlier versions of Slim Tool. It may require opening your PS2 to hold down a sensor.

Once again, it depends on your slim version.

If you have a V12, I'd suggest this item (http://www.thegiantstore.com/index.asp?PageAction=VIEWPROD&ProdID=334)

If you have a V13-16, google for some Magic Keys II, although the link I specified above can still be used (as it includes an extra tool necessary for V13-16s).

Mine's a SCPH-70001, so V12. So I need the "NTSC for USA", right? (Sorry I'm asking so many questions, I just want to get this right the first time).

Yeah, you should order the Swap Magic for NTSC for USA.

Yes, but your guide doesn't cover which tools to buy, nor how to install them depending on your version, which is very important.

It's a very important distinction--especially with the slim line series--for people to know that V12 slims are far easier to install the tools on (as it doesn't require the notorious "Tool C"), and that V13 and beyond *cannot* use Magic Switch Pro 1 & 2, or Slim Tool Pro (that isn't XCM).

You'll find that most of people's inquiries about Swap Magic is about the tools, and not the Swap Magic disc itself. Believe me, there were a vast amount of them when Final Mix+ was close to its release date back in March.
