A War in the Stars

While this RP is based off of Star Wars, I made it in such a way that anyone who joins does not even need to have watched the movies or have extensive knowledge of it. Obviously, if you have then it’s a plus. ^^

Story

Earth 2011

It seemed like just another day of average life to everyone. People would fret over the supposed end of the world to come the following year and others would say it's nothing more than hysteria. Well, one thing was for certain...the world would end. Just a year early however. Even the astronomers couldn't see it coming despite the fact that it was a giant rock headed towards Earth. This "rock" was massive enough to actually blow the Earth into pieces killing everything that inhabited it. Almost everyone that is. A group of nearly one hundred humans were saved, coming from different parts of the world. They suddenly found themselves aboard a massive ship known simply as The Saber. This mixed group was obviously confused as to what happened and why they were saved. There was one reason why they were chosen. The Force.

These people were told to gather around by three people. They spoke of how this group was their and the universe's only hope for a peaceful existence. These three called themselves Jedi Masters. They spoke of how that they were the last survivors of their order due to the betrayal of one of their own known as Alek Sadow. They continued on how that for the next couple of months, the group would be trained to be Jedi to help combat against the Sith, the Jedi's enemies. Although the group was still distraught over the loss of their home planet, they would have to accept these new conditions and the new destiny thrust upon them if they wanted to continue living.

They trained and trained hard, learning the ways of the Force, how to construct their own lightsaber, and how to properly use one in combat. As they studied the teachings under the three Jedi Masters they learnt more about the back-story surrounding the current events and even how the three Jedi Masters came to save the group in time from Earth's untimely destruction. One of the Jedi Masters had sensed a concentration of Force-Sensitive humans, a term for those with the potential to use the Force and be trained to be either Jedi or Sith, so they had the ship turn course to Earth just before it was destroyed. The new Jedi also learnt that the man leading the Sith was known as Nihilus, a man so deadly that the Jedi Masters knew it would take their combined might to defeat him and they couldn't reach him alone. That was where the new Jedi came in, they would assist the Jedi Masters in cutting down the Sith's numbers slowly until just a handful remained. Then the Jedi Masters would lead an assault together on Nihilus's base of operations to put an end to him.

The plan seemed good enough to the Jedi Apprentices...or at least most of them. Guerrilla warfare seemed to be the only tactic such a small "army" could conduct successfully so it was the best idea they had. They would use The Saber to travel to worlds swarming with Sith and crush their bases one by one, aiming to take down the top of the ranks, the Sith Lords. Once it was all over, the new Jedi would be free to choose to live in any planet that the group would have visited or go with the Jedi Masters to their home planet to create a new order of Jedi. Time would only tell if they would survive the battles to come...


Terms

The Force - The Force is what gives the Jedi and Sith power, it is a metaphysical force that surrounds every living creature. The Force can be channeled through the willpower of one who is Force-Sensitive, generally a Jedi or Sith. It allows one to accomplish extraordinary feats not physically possible otherwise.

Jedi - These are the protectors, they wish to protect the innocent and keep the universe at peace. When they are in combat they do everything they possibly can to not kill their opponent and merely subdue them. They are against violence and often choose the path of least opposition. Their enemies are negative emotions such as fear, anger, lust, and hate as well as the Sith.

Sith - They believe that order can only be reached through violence and submission. They simply want to gain power and use it against any who fail to submit to them. They channel their dark emotions through the Force leading to the result known as the Dark Side. The powers of the Dark Side are violent and chaotic. The Sith hold a grudge against the Jedi, believing that they are persecuted relentlessly without reason.

Lightsabers - These weapons are elegant, sleek, and offer a variety of uses to their owner. In their "off" position they are simply just a handle with a switch that houses an impressive amount of circuitry inside as well as a crystal that can determine the color of the blade emitted. When in its "on" position, the handle releases a superheated plasma that is held in place, extending up to 1.3 meters in length(just a little over four feet). The plasma is contained in such a way that being near the lightsaber's blade would not cause any damage due to heat emitted. If it does make contact, a lightsaber can cut through metallic doors or walls with relative ease and instantly cauterize flesh wounds. A lightsaber's blade is weightless, thus making it extremely difficult for anyone other than a Jedi or Sith to attempt to use one.

Rules

1. No Godmodding or Powerplaying. I know it'll be hard considering some of the powers but use some common sense when fighting.
2. You can't dodge or block EVERYTHING. Likewise, you can't auto-hit another RPer.
3. Jedi and Sith Apprentices get ONE Level 1 Force Power, only ONE Level 2 Force Power, and only ONE Level 3 Force Power. You can trade this off for having THREE Level 2 Force Powers however.
4. Jedi Masters and Sith Lords get TWO Level 2 Force Powers and TWO Level 3 Force Powers. I will break this rule with a single character simply for plot reasons.
5. Jedi Masters and Sith Lords can have TWO Combat Forms as their specialties while Apprentices from both sides only gain ONE.
6. If you have a character using two lightsabers both must be the same color. Also, there are no saberstaffs(Like Darth Maul's) in this RP.
7. There will only be two positions available for Jedi Masters and three for Sith Lords. For Jedi Masters, I am not allowing anyone to have the same specialties in Combat Forms. Every Jedi Master must have two DIFFERENT Specialties.
8. Don't make your character know more than they should or do things that you haven't already placed in your OC. EX: Constant use of back flips in combat despite your character not having learnt Form IV of Lightsaber Combat.
9. Stay active. D8 Also, stick to the basic philosophies of the sides. Jedi avoid violence and will do anything NOT to kill an opponent while a Sith will fight dirty and show no mercy.
10. Jedi can't use Dark Side powers and Sith can't use Light Side powers. Kinda obvious. ^^
11. If your character has two lightsabers they have to have Jar'Kai as their Specialty(or one of them if it's a Sith Lord or Jedi Master).
12. Jedi Masters and Sith Lords must be at least 24 years of age.
13. Have fun!

~~Notes~~

• The Saber is the current base for the Jedi and the nonForce-Sensitive crew that controls the functions of the ship. It's like a home away from home.
  
• The Sith are currently seperated throughout four different worlds, one of which is the Jedi's former homeworld where they would gather.
  
• The attack on the Jedi's temple was lead by Nihilus who brought with him his new apprentice, nonForce-Sensitive soldiers, and a great deal of Sith. They had struck at a time when there was little to no security and had also gained access to information regarding any defense systems the Jedi had. The Jedi Masters had been travelling for a year before they found Earth and saved the group of Force-Sensitives.
  
• For the sake of simplicity, everyone speaks English. Even if your character came from Earth and was from some unheard of country let's just say they learnt English. As for the Jedi Masters and Sith...let's just assume they know English as well.
  
• This RP is not meant to go along with Star Wars canon so a great deal of things don't exist or have been altered slightly to make the RP more "user friendly". So if you're a massive Star Wars fanatic, don't complain to me if I'm not doing things "right".
  
• The Death Star, Darth Vader, Luke Skywalker, Han Solo, Starkiller/Galen Marek, and so on do not exist here. I really don't want to see anyone using the most famous names as their character name. If you want to use a name from the universe, make sure it's a lesser known character and try to mix it up a little!
  
• I don't want to see everyone trying to go for the same Force Power/Specialty set up. I'd like to see some variety.
  
• You don't have to make your character a teenager. Although Jedi Masters and Sith are not from Earth, obviously. Also, PM me if you want to make a character outside of the human species.
  
• About less then half of the total RP is here. The rest will be in the OOC thread that I will create which will house the OC Forms, Combat Specialties, Lightsaber Colors, Force Powers, as well as other things. There's a lot to fill out but don't be discouraged!

OOC: I haven't started until now because I've been wondering what exactly to do in order to even start off. I have a bad habit of making RPs without too much of a general direction of what to do.

IC:



"Circle around the planet once we're dropped off, alright? I don't want the ship to stay still otherwise a Sith will probably sense us. It's hard enough to keep us hidden without worrying about cloaking an entire vessel as well."

"Understood, General Katarn." The ship's captain replied to the Jedi.

"Why do you insist on calling me that? There's not enough left of the fallen order for me to be considered such a thing." Without waiting for a response Cin left the ship's bridge and headed out towards the Main Hall. It wasn't exactly a "hall" but he preferred to call it that as it was much easier to pronounce than its original name which was in some foreign langauge he had yet to master. The Main Hall was the largest room in The Saber, it often served as a training area of sorts as it was isolated from all the vital parts of the rest of the ship so that any damage done via training would not compromise the well-being of the ship itself.

Two metallic doors slid open, revealing the large silver circular room. Nobody else was there because by this time everyone else would have considered it to be morning. In space there was no day or night, nonetheless, the Jedi Apprentices were still used to the cycle they were familiar with on their own planet Earth. He folded his arms, his hands sliding into the long sleeves of his robe, as he waited for the apprentices to make their way to the Main Hall. This day he was going to lead a small group on their first real mission. He had told the apprentices the day before that they were to meet him as soon as they awoke for further instruction.

The scent of smoke nearly made the young Sith cough, he had been told by his master Nihilus to await the arrival of some sort of opposition that he sensed would come to Thaven. The planet was heavily industrialized and was where most of the armory of Nihilus's army came from. A good portion of the planet was covered in lava which was useful for the construction of various alloys used as well as powering several generators on the planet through thermal energy. He headed into a nearby building that seemed to be carved out of one of the many black rock structures to escape from from the heat. He was not the only Sith on the planet, Nihilus knew something would come but even with powers as great as his he could not sense what was coming their way. Alek suspected it was the Jedi and hoped that his former master would arrive so that he would be the one to teach him of the true power of the Dark Side.




OOC: So it should be obvious what the Jedi Apprentices are doing. If anyone wants to join/make a Jedi Master then I suppose they could come along for the mission as well.

For those who have watched the movies, Thaven is similar to Mustafar, the planet where Obi Wan and Anakin fought in Star Wars Episode III. You know...that lava planet. << Anyone controlling a Sith will be there. Sorry it took so long to start. DX

 

"Good morning...or whatever you'd want to call this time." Cin looked around at the small group of apprentices. He had expected there to be more but given the circumstances he had to just deal with what he got. 'There's so few of us left...' He unfolded his arms and walked towards the four, taking a better look at Adele, Hana, Rayma, and Daris. "As you are aware of, we've been training you apprentices to assist us in battling the Sith forces. Today we are sending you all on your first official assignment. I will be coming along with you to the planet Thaven. It is the Sith's main source for metals and an area where they construct most of their armory." He paused as to let the apprentices take in this information before continuing to speak. "After careful study and meditation, I have learnt that there are two generators on the planet that serve to power every building's climate control and the machinery. All we have to do is simply destroy them completely and if we can, take out a few of the crane lifts nearby." Cin reached inside his left sleeve and drew out a small silver box with a single button located on it. "We only have one detonator to spare so we'll have to find a creative method to destroy the second generator. So before we arrive on Thaven I'd like to split this team into two groups." There was a problem with this however, there was an odd number of people if he included himself. He thought for a moment and figured that it would be evened out if only one person went with him while the group of three would be the rest of the apprentices. "So who prefer sticking with me on this mission?"

Alek turned around to watch Saris take a seat. He stared at the Sith for a moment as he pondered the question. It had been a year since he joined the Sith but due to the Jedi hiding and staying hidden from the Force, he had never gotten a chance since the day he betrayed them to go on any sort of "mission". "It's been awhile since I've had anything to do other than listen to the Master's lectures." Alek replied, referring to Nihilus who had taught him a great deal about the Dark Side of the Force. "Personally, I'm hoping we'll see the return of the Jedi so we can finally wipe them out."

OOC: A little movie humor. XD

 

OOC: The Sith are simple-minded. They love their movies. ...Suffer The Revenge of the Sith? I didn't think it was a bad movie. XD

BIC:

Cin was almost disappointed by the group's lack of directness about coming along with him. Then again, he figured that they could have been nervous about travelling with their master. When Daris offered to be partnered with him Cin simply nodded in agreement and said, "Alright then." He looked over at Adele, Hana, and Rayma. "You three better be careful." He walked up towards Hana and held out the small explosive towards her. "By pressing the button on this device, it'll start a five minute countdown. It will adhere to whatever surface you place it on so I suggest placing it wisely once you reach the generator." He motioned for the group to follow him as he headed towards a nearby door. The apprentices would learn the final details of the mission while they landed on the planet with the use of a smaller shuttle held on The Saber. "I want you all to keep calm. As long as you stay level-headed, everything will be fine."

"Those Jedi kept powerful secrets of their own. They seek to destroy the Dark Side yet their so-called Masters hide away what they know of it so selfishly." Alek lowly spoke as he folded his arms, turning towards Iris who was also nearby. He was confident that the three together would be more than enough to repel any attack the Jedi had to throw at them.

 

"We're leaving right now. Come." He motioned once more for the others to follow him as he walked through one of the doors. "By this time The Saber should be circling around Thaven. We'll be taking a shuttle to get onto the surface." He spoke as he soon stopped near another door which would lead directly inside the smaller craft.

Alek was the only one not wearing a hood, he dressed in moderately tight-fitting clothes for practicallity, he did not even wear a cloak over his outfit as he knew he would just get rid of it for a fight. "Right...I think the master has told me of you. Lord Saris, correct?"
