Note: The Legend of Zelda video game series is composed of several games that seem to both relate to each other and not be connected with each other. The common belief is that all games take place in the same universe, just separated by hundreds of years (and in some cases, thousands). Almost every Link and Princess of Zelda has been a different one, but every Ganondorf that's ever been defeated has been the same, original Ganondorf. Though difficult, most fans try to place all Zelda games in the same timeline. The result is the Split Timeline theory. The theory claims that at the end of Ocarina of Time, the timeline of the LoZ universe split into two different timelines. The "original" timeline is known as the "Child Timeline" because it's the timeline that Link returned to after defeated Ganon. The "Adult Timeline" is the future part of Ocarina of Time, where Hyrule was ruled by Ganon until the Hero of Time (Adult Link) defeated him before disappearing. The following spoiler contains a small recap of the Child Timeline, but it isn't necessary that you read it to understand the RP.

In the land of Hyrule, there once was a thief named Ganondorf, ruler of the Gerudo. Ganondorf had a plan to travel to the Sacred Realm and take hold of the Triforce, the legendary triangle of Wisdom, Courage, and Power that would give him the authority to govern all. In order to travel to the Sacred Realm, he needed Princess Zelda. A young boy by the name of Link was chosen by Zelda to oppose Ganondorf. After a small adventure, Link himself traveled to the Sacred Realm and acquired the Master Sword, the blade of evil’s bane, and disappeared. However, he soon reappeared shortly after with information from the future. Link had defeated Ganondorf 7 years from that moment. With Link's and Princess Zelda's knowledge about the future, they were able to stop Ganondorf before he could do anything. The Sages sealed Ganondorf in the Sacred Realm, not knowing that he still had the Triforce of Power, acquiring it when his future self did. Ganondorf promised revenge. (Ocarina of Time)

With Hyrule safe, Link departed from Hyrule to search for a "lost friend." While in the woods, he was attacked by Skull Kid, a mischievous imp possessed by the malevolent spirit of Majora through a mask. Skull Kid stole Link's Ocarina, turned him into a Deku Scrub, and "got rid" of Link's horse. Pursuing him, Link found himself in the parallel world of Termina. An eccentric mask salesman turned Link back to normal and gave him the Deku Mask, giving Link the ability to turn into the Deku Scrub at will. The salesman tasked Link with taking Majora's Mask from the Skull Kid, which he stole from said salesman. Over the next three days, Link used the Song of Time to repeat those three days and stop the Majora/Skull Kid from making the moon fall on and destroy Termina. Along the way, Link got ahold of the Goron Mask, Zora Mask, and the powerful Fierce Deity’s Mask. Link makes friends with the Skull Kid and departs his second saved world, resuming his quest for his lost friend. (Majora's Mask)

Centuries later, the new set of Sages decided it was time to execute Ganondorf. They brought him out of the Sacred Realm and the Sage of Water proceeded to thrust the Sword of Sages into Ganondorf's chest. It was then that Ganondorf's Triforce of Power awoke, as if some sort of divine prank, and he took the Sword of Sages and killed the Sage of Water. Panicked, the Sages sent and sealed him in the Twilight Realm, a parallel and dark version of Hyrule. From there, Ganondorf influenced a man named Zant to usurp and take the throne of the Twilight Realm, which he did. Zant then covered Hyrule in a twilight shroud in an attempt to take the kingdom. He was opposed by Midna, the true heir to the throne, and a young man named Link, who took the form of a wolf in the Twilight Realm. Like Ganondorf before him, Zant took the Princess of Hyrule, Zelda, hostage. Midna assassinated Zant, taking her rightful place in the throne and Link defeated Ganondorf, who showed himself. With peace restored back to the land, Ganondorf found himself trapped back in the Sacred Realm once again. (Twilight Princess)

This is known as the "Child Timeline" for when Ganondorf was defeated the first time, in the future of Hyrule, by the Hero of Time, something happened. Link was sent back to the past, where he warned Princess Zelda and Ganondorf was sealed in the Sacred Realm before he could do his evil deeds. But at the moment Link went back to his childhood, never to time travel again, the timeline split. While the aforementioned events happened after he returned to his childhood, the future continued on! In the future, when the Hero of Time disappeared (in reality, traveled back to his childhood), peace was restored to Hyrule. But the future Ganondorf wasn't dead; the Sages had sealed him in the Sacred Realm as well, just as his past self was. He would escape the Sacred Realm several times over the next several centuries, each time defeated by a different incarnation of Link and Princess Zelda.

The Ganondorf of the past, the one who conquered the Twilight Realm in the "Child Timeline" saw glimpses of the "Adult Timeline." He saw himself free, defeated, sealed, killed, and revived several times only to be defeated by "Link" again. How he saw this he didn't know, but he theorized the Triforce of Power was to credit. Seeing himself defeated in a different timeline by different Links and Zeldas drove him to such degrees of anger he never imagined before. If his fate was to live forever, but be defeated by Link again and again, what was the point? Were the gods playing some sort of prank on him by having a mere mortal reincarnated to defeat him, an immortal? Never again! It was time for Ganondorf to put an end to the cycle of Link. Using the power of his Triforce piece, Ganondorf broke out of the Sacred Realm. He pushed his power to the edge, as far as he could go until it happened. Ganondorf forced every incarnation of Hyrule, past, present, future, Child Timeline, and Adult Timeline to collapse into one single Hyrule, even merging other lands where he was defeated into it. This same method brought all of his future counterparts, from both Timelines, into him and he merged with them, absorbing their power and their Triforces of Power. Ganondorf had successfully destroyed and rebuilt Hyrule in a matter of moments, becoming the King of Evil once again.

Just as Ganondorf had merged with his other time-selves, Princess Zelda merged with other Princess Zeldas. Ganondorf took this opportunity to capture her and extract the Triforce of Wisdom from her. However, due to her own divine power, Zelda was able to keep the Triforce imbued inside of her, forcing Ganondorf to put a spell on her instead. The spell forbids the Princess from escaping the castle and from attacking the new Royal Family. He also forced her to become his bride, keeping the Triforce of Wisdom under his eye until he can find a way to steal it form her. Fortunately for Ganondorf, now calling himself Black King Ganon, his plan had brought all forms of evil masterminds to his new world, which he dubbed Hylia. Agahnim, Onox, Veran, Twinrova, Majora, Zant, Vaati, Nightmare, Bellum, and Ghirahim joined Ganon as the new 'Royal Family' of Evil. The Black King separated Hylia into different provinces and put it under the rule of a different villain.

Ganon knew that just how the Princess of all Hyrules had come to this world, so had all of the Links. He quickly built an army of monsters and hunted down the Links, who had not merged with each other due to the Triforce of Courage, and captured them. Stripping them of their weapons, he trapped them in the dungeon. He planned to kill them all and steal the Triforce of Courage from each one, but the Triforce was incomplete! Ganon realized there must still be a Link missing, one he had no memories of. If he were to kill even one Link before the Triforce of Courage was completed, he would be unable to ever complete it...so instead, he simply kept them weaponless and imprisoned until his army could find the last Link.

Then something magical happened. When all of those Links got together, a black light appeared in the castle. The light changed form to resemble a Shadow Link, though one with a personality. Shadow Link had a Mark on his left hand, just like the other Links, except his was simply the middle part of the Triforce. Unlike the other Links, Shadow Link was evil, but he had no powers of his own. Seeing an opportunity, Black King Ganon granted Shadow Link a fraction of the Triforce of Power. Shadow Link is now Ganon's top warrior. Using Shadow Link, Veran and Agahnim were able to use their magical skills to build an army of Dark Links, mindless versions of Link that follow the Royal Family's every order.

What Ganon didn't realize was that at the moment the timeline had split into the Child and Adult Timelines, so did the original Link. Link reverted to his childhood form and had went on to stop Majora's Mask, but his future self, the Hero of Time, simply disappeared. The reason the Hero of Time escaped Ganon's hunt was because he and his child self, the Link who defeated Majora's Mask, were one and the same, split into two, sharing one childhood, but having two futures. The Hero of Time caught wind of Ganon's plans and joined with a newly formed resistance. Using their information, the Hero of Time sneaked into the castle, ready to save his other selves.

    Royal Family of Evil
    [IMG]
The Hylian Royal Family is led by Black King Ganon. Each one has a title and most have a kingdom in Hylia to rule over. The family has control over monsters. An army of monsters is led by General Onox and an army of Dark Links is led by Sorceress Veran.

    Shards of Courage

The collective name given to all of the Links. There's a total of ten Links (not counting Shadow Link) and they all wield the Triforce of Courage. Each Link has a special ability, a specialized weapon, and a Master Weapon. Along with this, each one also has a normal shield and a Hero's Sword. Black King Ganon has taken all of these away from them. To avoid confusion, they all go by a different name that has a connection to themselves or their respective game. Each Link has the Mark of a Hero (an outline of the Triforce with the right triangle filled in) on the back of his left hand. The Mark of a Hero glows when another Triforce wielder is nearby.

    Crowns of Wisdom
    [IMG]
The collective name of the five Princess Zeldas. White Queen Zelda is a merge of several Zeldas, but four other Zeldas somehow avoided the merge.

    The Resistance

The Resistance is formed by other characters from the series. They are a coalition that oppose the Royal Family's evil, but lack the power to defeat them. They have the Sky Spirit Valoo on their side and rumors say their goal is to get help from the other deities of Hylia. They are led by Prince Komali.

Blue eyes looked around, but only found gray walls. "Can't believe this," a child's angry voice muttered as he turned around and focused his eyes on the steel bars in front of him. Staring straight back, past the bars, were the empty blue eyes of a Stalfos. The child walked forward, ignoring the whispering going on under his long, green hat, and placed both hands on the bars in front of him. He squeezed, hard, and pulled. Like every other time for the last few weeks, the bars didn't budge. And, once again like every time for the last few weeks, the Stalfos let out a cackle. "Keep laughing, creep," the child muttered once again. It was useless, and Darmani knew it. Without his masks, which Ganondorf immediately confiscated upon capturing Darmani near Death Mountain what seemed like ages ago, he didn't have the strength to break the bars. Not that it mattered. Even if he escaped, how could he fight all of the Stalfos guards? He looked up, past the Stalfos watching him. He was in a dungeon, just as he had been for weeks. His cell was the default cell, three solid walls and a set of iron bars. Each other cell in the dungeon held another Link, each paired with his own Stalfos guard. Though he long since stopped calling them Link. "Anybody else having any luck?" He asked aloud. They've had talk like this before, trying to come up with ways to escape, each looking for a way to use his own specific set of skills to break free from his cell, each Link studying his cell as carefully as possible looking for some hidden switch or a hole. But there wasn't any. Not this time.

Of course, that kind of talk came after the talk where each of them had to explain who they were. Darmani sure as hell didn't believe they were all him. Psh, other Links? What kind of trick was Ganon pulling? But it was true. They all showed their left hand and revealed an actual Triforce of Courage...the same one that Darmani had on his left hand. His eyes moved to it. It was the outline of three triangles, set to make one larger triangle, with the lower right one filled in. Lately, he'd seen it flicker every once in a while, as in signaling him, but nothing happened. But that's today, right now we're focused on the past. Every time a new Link came, bound by guards and thrown into a cell, he claimed to be Link, but Darmani was Link. It took several days of talking to each other, yelling across the dungeon and sharing stories of their own personal adventures to save Hyrule that they realized they were all Link, each from a different Hyrule. More stories, of what happened when they found themselves in New Hylia shed some more light. But it wasn't until Dark Link, who Darmani hadn't seen since the Water Temple back when he was older, came to see them and even taunt them that the truth was revealed. Dark Link, now going by the moniker "Shadow Link," told Darmani and the other Links the truth: Ganondorf wasn't dead nor powerless. He was a god now. He united timelines and realities into one, absorbing more and more power. But even more so, he united lands into one Hyrule, one called New Hylia. Ganon was now King. And all of the Links from all of those timelines existed at once, giving Darmani the view he had now: a different Link -some identical to each other, some with subtle differences such as hair color, and some even older than the rest- in a different cell. But Shadow Link told them something else: A Link was missing. Without that Link, the others were worthless to Ganon. Once that Link was found, they would all perish together. Shadow Link seemed happy to tell them that each time he came down to taunt them.

It was after the first time that Shadow Link told the real Links the story that the Links decided to each take a different name to make them easier to differentiate. Since none of them could decide who should be "Link," they all chose something different. Darmani named himself after the Goron spirit who had blessed him with the Goron Mask and form: Darmani the Third. Though that possibly made this Link Darmani the Fourth.

Darmani scowled as he looked at all of the other Links. He had realized that he could classify them into three categories based on their appearances. Kasuto was an adult, and he was in a cell just like Darmani. Another Link named Xoram was in the cell next to him, but instead of iron bars, there was a single clear wall. Darmani knew it was because this Link could turn into a rabbit form and easily slip through bars. Darmani classified this Link as a "Child Link." Another Child Link was stuck in a normal cell. This Link claimed to have time-traveled, just like Darmani, and use the weather to his whim, though he now lacked the instruments to do so. And then there was Green, Red, Blue, and Vio, the four Links. They all shared a single cell, complete with iron bars and four Stalfos guards. Apparently, they were all one Link in their own world, split into four to save their world and now split into four again. Darmani thought of them as "Cute Links," since their appearance didn't reflect the world he knew. Then there was Ulan and Aaron, two other Cute Links placed in cells side-by-side. Aaron was without his hat, which Darmani learned was actually a person named Ezlo. Ezlo was most likely with the rest of the Links' weapons. Then, there was Akarian. Just Xoram, he was placed in a cell without bars, but another wall. Darmani considered Akarian an Adult Link; he was obviously the oldest. He knew that Arkarian could change forms to a wolf, which is why Ganon decided to give him not a set of bars, but a wall. The last Link was Lokomo, another Cute Link. This Link was just like Akarian, trapped behind a clear wall. Lokomo's cell was guarded by a special spell. Lokomo could apparently turn into a ghost and the spell stopped him from phasing through the walls. So that was it: Cute Links, Child Links, and Adult Links. Darmani knew he would technically be a Child Link under his own classification, but he considered himself an Adult Link after all he'd been through.

Once again, he scowled. "Can anybody get out?" He asked, knowing the answer. He looked back at his Triforce mark as Tael and Tatl whispered quickly beneath his hat. His Triforce flashed once and quickly, but it burned his hand. It's happened before, but the other Links never said anything so Darmani surmised it was only his Triforce acting up. He wasn't sure exactly what it meant, but he had a feeling. Something was coming.

"No!" Blue raged his reply to the too-often-asked question, shaking the bars to his own cell.

"W-we can't... do anything!" Red was on the ground with Vio, his back being pat by the latter. He was starting to get panicky. The only thing giving him comfort was being with the Links he referred to his as his 'brothers.' If they were all in different cells, Red would be in pieces.

"Don't worry," Green tried to calm the sensitive one. His sense and burden of being their 'leader' made him feel guilty for the whole mess. He needed to find a way out. If only there was some way that every Link in that place could work together. But he and his brothers were the only ones who could physically interact. "We'll get out of this."

"Don't lie to him!" Blue turned on Green, his fists balled in anger. "Unless you've come up with something, we're stuck here! There is no way out!"

Vio cleared his throat, holding Red in an one-armed hug to stop him from crying. "I have an idea."

The first thing he saw was red. Just red. It was a bright red, not the color of blood, but it was just...red. And bright. A red so bright that he hated it. More than anything. The red made him angry and that made him hate it even more. Or did he hate it because he was already angry? He wasn't sure. No matter how many times he tried to remember which came first, the anger or the hate, he never could. For that matter, did either of those two emotions come before the red or did the red precede them both? But did that even matter? Hell no. And it still didn't. Because when he finally started to see other things beside red, he finally realized it: He neither hated the red nor was he angry at it, he was just angry and hateful for mere hell out of it. He was born hateful and angry, born out of hate and anger, and born into a world of hate and anger.

The first thing that he saw after the blinding red was a man. And somehow, though he had no memory prior to that moment, he knew it was Ganondorf. His first instinct was to strike, but he didn't move. Just like Ganondorf replaced his vision of red, the Gerudo was a replaced by a vision of green. And that made him angrier. And that was it. His first emotions were anger and hate. His first memory was Ganondorf. And his first intelligent thought was "I hate green."

After that, time passed. He didn't exactly remember his early days in detail; they were more like a blur. He was born, he hated green, he met Ganondorf, he hated green, he met the rest of the Royal Family, he remembered the Triforce, he hated green, Veran made an army using him as a template, he learned he held the middle piece of the Triforce, he hated green, they captured the Links one-by-one, he hated green even more with each capture, Ganondorf gave him a piece of the Triforce of Power, he learned to shadow the Links' abilities using it, he hated green, and that's the broad recap of his memories and life. Oh, did I mention that he hated the color green? Goddamn, does he hate that color.

"I'm going to do it. I'm going to kill every single one of them," he told himself as he looked at the mirror. Red eyes glared back, narrowed to slits of anger. "They'll beg me for mercy and cry for the help of the Goddesses, but with the power of the Goddesses granted to me, I'll slaughter them." He looked his reflection up and down. How he hated that he looked like any of the Links, or Shards of Courage, as his liege nicknamed them, demonizing them to simple objects. He looked down at his left hand and clenched it into a fist. Through his glove, the yellow outline of a triangle started to glow. "I don't know who I'll start with, but they'll all die. I'll make sure of that," his voice started to rise as an upside-down triangle appeared in the center of the triangle already there, separating it into three triangles (plus the reverse one). "They'll wish I never existed," he said that with a laugh as the middle triangle shined a black glow. "The Triforce of Power or the Triforce I was born with, I don't give a damn which gives me the power," the top triangle started to glow red, "but they'll each die at my steel blade." Then, the right triangle flashed green quickly.

Shadow Link smiled as he turned around. "He's coming. Finally."

Guardian looked around. "Where could she be?" He was in the midst of rescuing the Princess when there had been a strange flash, and they got separated. "Too bad," he said. "I'm sorry Uncle Alfon, I've failed you."

Vaati stood at the top of the mountain. "Pitiful..." said at the thought of him losing.

“tsk how could I have gotten into this mess” the hero of Hyrule silently muttered to himself. Formerly known as Link and now taking on the name of Kasuto, he could only sit in silence against the cold wall of the cell he was placed in. All he could recall was that he awoke in a different version of Hyrule. Before he even had the chance to explore he was ambushed by creature and the next thing he knew he was trapped in a cell, stripped of the many weapons he carried

The think he found odd was that he met others that shared the name of Link in the cells nearby. Of course in order to differentiate between them the chose different names. The name Kasuto came from one of the many villages he visited. He felt this name suited him quite nicely.

Nonetheless things soon began to make some sense as a being known as Shadow Link made his appearance and explained the situation. Though this Shadow Link bore an uncanny similarity to the doppelganger he fought in the great palace, he could tell this “Link” was not the same being.

Letting out a sigh Kasuto snapped out of his thoughts upon hearing the voice of the Link that went by the name Darmani. “No, I’m still locked up tight in here” Kasuto replied raising his head. He felt moving around senselessly would solve nothing. He merely observed his surrounding and attempted to think up a plan in order to free himself and the other link. Merely freeing themselves was not the only concern. Escape from the castle would be a difficult task.

It was a joyous victory for the General of Darkness. Standing in the balcony of his castle with his arms crossed, Onox let out a loud and glee filled laughter as he looked out at the new Hyrule made by his lord Ganon. Things have become far greater than he imagined, though once defeated by the green tunic hero he was now resurrected to fight once again.

Only one thing burned in his mind upon his resurrection, anger of the one who defeated him. His plan to resurrect the king of evil Ganon was foiled by that green tunic boy. Nonetheless that all faded. Though his overall plan failed it was not his fault, for he did his share and lit the flame of destruction. If anything it was the two old witches who were responsible for the failure.

To witness Hyrule in its chaotic state, to witness the return of Ganon, and to be able to command his army and capture those so called heroes, this was quite the victory for the general, but despite all the joy he felt empty at the same time. The thought that these heroes were caught so easily left the general bored and made this victory seem shallow
