FAQs- Please Read before posting
ok, this is to cut down on spam. so:
1. What is an AR Max and how do i get one? A: It's a cheating device and u buy it at Gamestop, Eb Games, Walmart, or other places that sell game stuff. Should cost about $40. 2. What are other cheating devices? A: Codebreaker, Gameshark. A Codebreaker costs about $20 and I dont' know about Gameshark. 3. What is the best cheating device? Its arguable, but your best choice would be Codebreaker or Gameshark, because they use Raw type codes makeing them easy to modify. ARMAX Needs to be converted of Raw making it require more effort on our part, Plus ARMAX can't use certain codes like 'Copy codes' and makeing a workable ARMAX version would most likely be very large. 4. My codes keep getting deleted, what's wrong? A: Your flash drive may be on Lock mode without u knowing it. u should be able to tell if it's Locked cuz it shows a symbol that has a locked padlock, unlocked is....hmmm....an unlocked padlock symbol. 5. How do I make my own codes? A: You have to have special programs which aren't available here. you gotta get them somewhere else. 6. It says "cheat is for wrong game!" or it says "Invalid Code" A: if it says "cheat is for wrong game" then then ur entering codes in the wrong game (which isn't usually the case) or the code isn't made correctly, or u have the wrong Master Code. if it says "Invalid Code" that means YOU messed up entering the code somewhere. 7. Is it safe to save with codes on? A: It depends on what kind of cheats you are using. 8. What is PAL? A: PAL refers to the European region games. NTSC refers to North American region games. So if you're living in Europe, you should use PAL type codes. 9. Can I use a cheat device on import games? A: Definitely! It works on ALL games that are hackable (and yes, there ARE very rare exceptions of unhackable games). In the case of Swap Magic, Cogswap, or HD Loader, make sure you use a 9 type Master Code. This means that the Master Code must start with a 9. Only the raw version of the code has to start with a 9, when you convert it to AR Max or Gameshark and it no longer starts with a 9, it should still work as long as the original RAW code began with a 9. 10. Can I use my cheats on backup games or import games with the use of Swap Magic? If so, how? A: Yes you can!!!! All you have to do is put in cheat device first, make sure your Master Code begins with a 9 if you're using Codebreaker, then select cheats, put in Swap Magic INSTEAD of the game, then do the normal method you use to boot up the game. Once the game is booted up, you should notice the cheats took effect ![]() 11. Will my cheat devices work for Playstation 3? A: So far only Codebreaker has been known to work. However with Codebreaker, you cannot use the Flash drives and you MUST enter the codes by hand. Also, when you hit Start Game, do NOT hit X to make the disc tray go back in/close. Close it by pressing the button or switch on the PS3 and then wait a few seconds. Now this part is crucial. Press AND HOLD X until the game starts, if you simply tap X the game will NOT start for unknown reasons. 12. How do I convert codes? http://www.codemasters-project.net/p...oad.php?view.6 download Max Convert fromt that link above. i noticed ALOT of ppl ask how to convert codes, so this is how! don't worry, it's free of spyware and that kind of crap and it's VERY small. no installation needed. and since this is a Kingdom Hearts fansite, i'm SURE most ppl will be converting codes for KH2, so here is the Game ID for KH2 Game ID: 0911 PAL Version: 09C9 will post a tutorial in this thread soon. note that Codebreaker and Gameshark v2 users DO NOT need the Game ID when converting to those. also, note that it does NOT convert from region to region. but u CAN use it if u are in another region. here is a picture to show you how to convert a code http://img403.imageshack.us/img403/3...utorialol9.png btw the ppl at Codemasters Project made this EDIT: added CB2Crypt, which allows you to convert from CB7+ to RAW http://www.codemasters-project.net/p...ad.php?view.40 click on Encrypt to make RAW in the CB7+ format (no reason to do this, all Codebreaker and Gameshark can use RAW). click on Decrypt to make it RAW format. THE BELOW IS FOR GAMECUBE ONLY http://www.codemasters-project.net/p...ad.php?view.28 don't know the details on how to use as i dont' have a gamecube If you have more questions dont' hesitate to ask here. Remember, this topic is NOT for Code Requests. 13. How do I use Action Replay Max? Here's a link to a guide I made on the basics on AR Max (short for Action Replay Max) and yes my username there and on youtube IS bloodyjab. http://www.khinsider.com/khinsider/a...lay-codes.html Xendran's Terminology For any new members who are having trouble understanding what we say, here are some basic terms to help you get started! RAW Format - A code used for Codebreaker or Gameshark. it looks like this 00000000 00000000 an example would be something like 11CAF209 00000859 ARMAX Format - A code used for Action Replay MAX cheat devices. looks like this 0000-0000-00000 0000-0000-00000 An Example would be HJ25-4429-0JK5 RB4C-2QBQ-BUAU8 (older members will recognize this ancient line XD) Coder - A person who hacks codes for the game, they wil have Orange names if they are "official" but there are a few unofficial coders around. ELF File - The file on a ps2 Disc that stores all of the memory. using cheats modifies this temporarily, but CAN NOT harm your game. Save Dump - A Memory dump of the information that is stored in a save poin. Live Dump - A memory dump of every address in use of the game. can only be performed on a PS2 Emulator Jokers- An additional line added to the top of a code that assigns it to a certain button. How to port codes
OK. a lot of people ask us how we port codes, its quite complicated, so listen closely....
the only way to do it easily is with the help of THIS. download it and prepare for the phases. 1. okay. this example includes the KHII (NTSC) to KH2 (PAL.) where it says "get offset" type in FFFFFB00 (5 Fs and a B00) 2.In code A, copy in the RAW NTSC code, and hit convert. done... [NOTE: this ONLY works about 50% of the time...] i dont know any other OFFSETS, so ask evilman or any other dude who knows his stuff for those... |

How to port ELF to ELF and Dump to Dump:
1. open 2 PS2dis's (one for each region's ELF or dump) 2. type in the address into both PS2dis's (remember to switch the first digit in the address to a "0") 3. look at the the value of the code (from whichever code your porting from) 4. look for that same value or something very similar in the ELF/Dump your porting to. (remember most pal games are + from the NTSC games so you would go down and most NTSC games are - from pal games so you would go up ) 5. once you find a the exact value or something very similar in the ELF/Dump your porting to, thats your code. Important! if you code takes up 5 or more digits in the value you replace the "0" in the address of the code to a "2" if you code takes up 3-4 digits in the value you replace the "0" in the address of the code to a "1" if you code takes up 0-2 digits in the value you keep the the address the same way it is in the PS2dis Also 9/10 you will REQUIRE a dump since only about 4-5mb of the game data is in the ELF and the game uses 32mb once it's actually running. and some games are multi-ELFed or have hardely anything in the ELF (Jak 3 for example) games like that must have a dump in order to port or hack any questions =P Last edited by 罪; 11-19-2007 at 12:29 AM. |

how to port more accurately.
YOU NEED Ps2dis ELFs from both regions A Code to search for First, go to the line of code in the region for the code thats ALREADY known Example: KH2 (NTSC) at the line for "Drive w/o Supporting Characters" http://img115.imageshack.us/my.php?i...utorialwh7.png Now that you see it, you know what you're looking for! So you wna look at some codes from both regions. See if the PAL codes tend to be LESS in value or MORE in value for the address. if it's less, you wna keep hitting Page UP until you find it, if it's more, keep hitting Page Down. now this part is crucial, you HAVE to keep an eye out for similar data. ok, now look at this, the PAL picture, notice anything familiar? PAL line for "Drive w/o Supporting Characters" http://img85.imageshack.us/my.php?image=palportzl7.png now all that seems to be a pain in the a$$ right? well.....luckily there is an easier way except it DOES NOT work all the time. It's called "Pattern Search". So go to Edit, and then click on Find Pattern. Click the box that says "As Hex String". Then type in the VALUE DATA in this fashion backwards. THis is gonna take a while to sink in so look it over a few times. For example: the value data for Drive w/o Supporting Characters is 0274100B so what you would type to SEARCH for that is: 0B 10 74 02 you would type each byte sequence backwards (bytes are 2 digits btw) so the PS2dis will search for that value data for you! however, the reason why this wont' always work is becuz sometimes the value data has changed from region to region. here is an example of the same line of code in Kingdom Hearts 2 Final Mix+ Drive w/o Supporting Characters (FM+) http://img85.imageshack.us/my.php?image=finalmixle1.png as you can see the data value has changed. also, the code doesn't follow the same pattern as the other codes in the game! the other codes usually come BEFORE the codes in NTSC KH2, but this one actually comes after! becuz of these changes, i had a hard time porting the code, but luckily for you, i did, but i had to spend hours searching using Page Down and Page UP. so i hope that helps you to port, it's MUCH better to use Save Dumps than ELFs becuz you will be able to port more. but it's HARD to get your hands on dumps from both regions tho.
