Final Fantasy XIII: Slaves of Fate

Mia walked into Oerba and watched Lighting train with Akira, a member of the Kun clan, and Leo, a boy who hunted monsters. She noticed Ryou nearby and sighed, thinking to herself, 'Maybe I should ask Snow or Lighting to spar with me. See what these former Cocoon people can do.' Walking around, she found Snow, Mya, and Grey, and decided to watch them. She would let Snow or one of the others notice her and ask if she wanted to join them.

 

Ryou listened to the two girls, what Lighting said was true from her experiences and that when they finished tutorship under herself and Snow, it'll be a very satsifying accompishment as he knew Lighting never let anyone call her Light unless she trusted those she knew.

"I never said that your training with Light hasn't improved, it shows you are commited." Ryou said as he thought about the spar, Light did have great stamina behind her as well as a calcluating mind to figure out what the next move should be. "Well, I suppose since Akira's had her spar, would you mind sparing with me Light?" He asked her as he drawn out his daito

 

Lightning pulled back out her gunblade, aiming the gun at him and switched it to a blade, "You need the training. C'mon Ryou, then, lets spar." She spread her feet and stood waiting for him to move. Since it was his sparring session, she'd let him move first.

Akira huffed and watched Light closely. A few children had wandered from Oerba and pulled on Akira's sleeves, demanding she play with them. Ignoring them, Akira stood a few feet away, giving them room to fight and studied the way Lightning gauged her opponent.

 

Ryou had to give off a small smile. "Well, I'm honored to have the first move, then I won't disappoint you Light." he said before standing with daito in front of him as he moved his feet apart as his facial expression changed completely as his eyes were focused as he then shifted foward in a leap while bring up his daito above him to bring it down.

 

"Naivete and innocence. Such is the mind of youth."

"Don't blame me," Leo chuckled as he walked towards Akira. "You think there won't be distractions in a real fight?" He made sure to walk around Lightning and her new opponent. "Anyway," Leo waved at the children who had run up to Akira, "Ms. Akira can't play right now, guys, she's going to play with me." He closed his eyes and knelt down, giving them a cheerful smile before standing straight and holding Heretic up. "Come on. Dummies can't fight back. Don't be a dummy," he joked.

Snow immediately tensed up as he folded his arms up in front of him and knelt to a knee. Grey's slash cut across his forearms, but the second it passed, he jumped to his feet. "That's what I'm talking about!" He yelled as he ran forward. He could take both of them no problem. He wouldn't use magic, just to be fair, but he wouldn't go to easy on them. They had to be good teachers after all, right? First take Grey out and then focus on Mya. He ran towards Grey and reared his right fist up, aiming for his chest. "Bring it on," he said as he let his punch fly.

"I'm glad you see it my way," Cid smiled as he nodded. He proceeded to walk in front of Freyja. "It's going to be a long trip, you know? Might want to find you a Chocobo," It was a joke, though. He had another plan to travel, but a Chocobo would take them to the edge of the steppe. "First, we had towards Taejin's Tower," He pointed in the distance, despite the fact that the tower was past the mountains and could not be seen.

Akira blinked at him and grinned, "I'm no dummy, you dummy!" She pulled back out Lionheart and tipped Leo's chin up with a slender finger, "You want a fight, you got it cutie." Akira snapped her fingers, twirled and readied herself the way Light did. spreading her feet and holding her blade in front of her.

Lightning frowned at his choice in attack. She ducked and rolled under him, avoiding his slash from above. Turned and kicked him as he landed, her boot connecting square in the center of his back. Her expression fierce and closed. Her blue eyes never left him, giving nothing away in her tactics.

 

Ryou felt the kick and he turned around to swipe at her with hsi daito as he fell but before he hit the ground he rolled backward and as soon as his feet touched the ground he quickly moved in head first as he down the Daito against Light's gunblade, metal against metal creating sparks as he purposely let some of his strong grip give away as Lighting's wepon was gaining the advantage but then he dragged it around the side bringing the blade close to her face.

 

Lightning grabbed his arm with her free hand and flipped him over her shoulder, throwing him to the ground. She stepped on his shoulder and graced him with a smile, "You've learned well, Ryou. You did good, but my being a l'Cie will always give me the upper hand. I'll discuss with Snow about training with a few stronger creatures in the Steppe next session." She extended her hand to help him up.

 

Ryou lay there as he felt Lighting's foot on on his shoulder to stop his Daito since it was in that hand but she was an I'Cie so she had unatural strength within her and things humans couldn't usually do, some would call her a monster or as people said, I'Cie were bad news to the people, he knew Snow was one too but without much surprise, Ryou accepted them not as monsters or creatures that could destory anything they desired but rather, as humans as he learnt when living alone to not see things black and white.

"Well, I know your a I'Cie but that still doesn't take away the fact you are still human on the inside." He said as he gave a smile back at her and took her hand. "Even if the world did hate you, I wouldn't plan on turning my back on you." He said to her with a very calming tone behind it.

 

Light hauled him to his feet with little effort. "Good to hear that. Else I'd be forced to kill you." She didn't laugh and dusted herself off, putting her gunblade back into it's sheath, resting on the backs of her legs. "Not many in the world today hate l'Cie, but still those in Coccoon do. But I'm satisfied with the ones that don't think of us as monsters out to destroy Coccoon anymore."

 

Mya swung her gunblade at Snow. Her gunblade was outfitted a dull edge so it wouldn't cut anyone during practice.

 

Ryou heard her words as he sheathed his daito at his waist, he could tell that Light wasn't joking about the killing part but then again, what Light said about Cocoon did ring true while Gran Pulse wasn't bothered by that fact because it was common to see strong creatures as well as meeting people who have a few tricks up their sleeves, just so long as the I'Cie didn't use their power for evil intentions they were welcomed, Oerba was the first to do this, there were some other small towns in Gran Pulse but Lighting and Snow came to Oerba but they did keep their infomation about their lives privately and when people were under their training, Snow did convince Lighting about them being I'Cie when they started, some people left, some stayed, it was as simple as that

"Well, you really can't blame them..." He said as he trailed off, he never been to Cocoon in his life since he lived in Oerba since the day he was born, plus, he had seen Snow's I'Cie mark occasionally, he never asked Lighting about hers and he wouldn't even attempt it as that was very private and rude but since he was closer to her now, she was certainly a beautiful woman but he wasn't going to say that out loud.

"I know I have a long way to go in my training even though you praised me, so I'll do my best to live up your expectations." He said firmly and also, a vow to himself that he'd never break.

 

Light fell silent. Since Ryou had never been to Coccoon, he couldn't know that the people were to blame. They should've opened their minds instead of giving into their fear. She almost hated them for their weak mindedness. She stepped back from him and looked at Akira, thinking, She'll grow to be a strong fighter. That I'll make sure of. Just like Hope. With her depressing thought she turned on her heel and walked toward town. Oerba certainly was beautiful, just like Vanille had said. She reached for the knife Serah had given her and found it missing from her pocket. It must have fallen out when she was sparring with Ryou.

 

Ryou watched Light leave but he didn't stop her, she surely had other things on her mind at the moment rather than take her time talking to him as he started to walk back to Oerba but he saw a small shine. "Huh?" He asked himself and bent down to see it being some sort of object as he picked it up. and opened it, revealing to be a knife. "Wonder whose it is?" He thought to himself and closed it, it could of been Light's or Akira's since they were the only two sparring before Ryou had his turn.

"I'll return it the next time I see either of them." He thought to himself and pocketed the knife on his person as he continued on to Oerba, he was a bit hungry so he went in the direction of his house and opened the door.

"I'm home." He called out but no-one responded to his call as he walked inside, no-one but himself lived in this house so, he would feel nostalgic indoors and entered the living room as he saw a photo frame of his parents and smiled lightly at it. "Just came back for some food." He said to the photo, knowing no-one would respond as he headed to the kitchen and opened the fridge, looking around inside, he reached for some ham and butter before closing the fridge and slicing up some bread to make a sandwich as he bit into it.

 

"Naivete and innocence. Such is the mind of youth."

"Aw, you think I'm cute?" Leo asked as he sent Akira a mock wink. He gave the children a moment to give them space before raising Heretic to the right side of his face. "You ready? Because I'm..." before finishing, he lunged forward with his peculiar Gunblade raised high above his head. "Coming for you!" he yelled it as he brought down vertically towards Akira without pulling the trigger.

Snow didn't have time to let his punch connect when Mya swung at him. However, he was able to use his momentum to change his punch into a spinning swing to his right, connecting it with the side of Mya's gunblade. "Not this time," he said as he grabbed the top quickly and pulled it from her hand, tossing it in the air.

Staggering footsteps walked into Oerba, long white cloths that resembled leggings wrapped around their legs. The white cloths were stained with blood, as was the rest of the girl's clothes and her skin. In one hand, she was holding a camera. In the other, her dirtied brown jacket was dragging against the ground. In the distance, she could hear the sound of battle, but an overwhelming buzzing in her ears didn't let her distinguish where it was coming from. "H..help.." she attempted to cry out, but only a whimpering whisper came out.

Walking around, Mia saw someone enter Oerba and gasped, she ran to the person and examined the person. She was badly wounded, Mia placed her over her shoulders and gently escorted her to her house. She past Snow and his group while they were training and got to her house. Laying her on a separate bed, Mia went to get the first aid kid and treated her wounds.

 

Akira tapped into her training with Lightning and sidestepped Leo's vertical slice and kicked the back of his knee, forcing him down to one knee, "You shouldn't play with girls." Akira laughed and tapped his shoulder with Lionheart.

Lightning walked into Oerba focused on her memories when she noticed someone walking rather slowly through town holding a camera. She looked up and for a second, saw Serah. Light almost called out to her but she blinked and Mia helped her to her house. Light followed quickly, curiosity getting the better of her good judgment. The woman didn't look like a fighter. She stood in Mia's doorway for a second before walking out to Snow and the ones he was training, "Snow, stop goofing around and c'mon. We have a situation now. Move!"

The auburn haired girl laid in the bed, covered in wounds. Her eyes were closed and she had just slipped into a state of unconsciousness. She gripped the camera in her hand tight, but let her jacket fall to the floor. "Uh..ahh...hel..p..." She mumbled, her body twitching while Mia treated her. She was seeing things in her sleep, evil memories attacking her mind just as the events had attacked her body. "They...no...la...Cie..." A flash of light in her dreams and then it was all black and her grip on the camera went limp. She laid in complete silence, the only sound being her heavy breathing.

"Gah!" Leo yelled as he fell to a knee. "Look at that, one hit and you got me on a knee proposing..." he joked. "I must be in lo-" he stopped when he heard Lightning call out to Snow. "What's going on? Let's go!" He quickly got up and, with his Gunblade in hand, ran after Lightning. He ran past her into his own, which he shared with some of the others. Mia had laid a clearly hurt girl on the lower left bed and was treating her wounds. Leo watched, worried and curious. "Is she alright?" He asked Mia. "L'Cie?!" Her mutters were exasparated, but he clearly heard that word. The word surprised him for some reason, causing him to drop his weapon. Clang, it rang in the room as it hit the floor. He reached over Mia and grabbed the girl's camera. "Is she going to be okay?" He asked, confused and worried as can be.

"H-hey!" Snow reached behind his head to grab Grey. He would have thrown him over, but instead tried standing up. Grey's grip didn't weaken, but, because of Snow's great height, he was lifted off his feet. Seconds later, before he could counter, Lightning called him. He looked up just in time to see Mia run into their house with a wounded girl. "Uh oh...Come on, let's see what's up," he struggled to say.

OOC: I'm going to say that the following people live together in Vanille and Fang's home:
Snow and Lightning: but they have their own rooms, that were built when the town was rebuilt.
In the room with the six beds:
Leo since he has no family.
Akira since she has no family.
Mya for the same reason as above.
Mia because of ^^^^
That leaves two beds. Either empty, or someone claims them. Doesn't matter >>

Akira stared at the girl, listening to Leo. "You think she's...afraid of l'Cie? She looked at Light and at Snow. Akira was about to hit Leo when he started joking during their fight but when Lightning had called, she faithfully ran after Leo. She watched Leo take the camera and looked over his shoulder at it, "Leo, that's not yours!" Akira looked over at Lightning, "I hope she'll be alright. She will be alright, won't she, Light?" Not waiting for an answer she turned back to Leo and poked his side.

Lightning had hustled everyone in. An injured person was of more importance than training. She jerked when Akira asked her specifically if the strange woman would be alright, "How should I know?" she was curt and hated herself for it. Lightning directed her pale blue eyes at the girl she'd thought was Serah for a moment before moving to stand over Mia, watching her tend her wounds. She ignored Leo as he took the camera and folded her arms, "Mia, she will live." It wasn't a question nor did she really know, but it had to be said.
