You pull the book you found out from behind you, opening it and turning it's pages curiously. You seriously can't understand anything on the pages (aside from sketches) and have never seen the language before. Before figuring it's useless, you nudge the girl in the side with it. She blinks at you, again.

"Have you ever seen this book before?"

She nods. She's a quiet one.

"Can you tell me about it? Do you know where this place is?"

She's quiet for a moment, and you figure she's just going to keep being weird about it and not say anything. You're about to throw the book but then you hear her voice. She looks away from you, embarrassed.

"I was carrying it before I was attacked. I found it in the tunnels." She points to where the monster must have came from and you shudder. "I think the book has to do with some sort of alchemy. I haven't figured out how to work it. As for this place...I don't really have any idea, myself. I woke up here not too long ago."

She glances at you and her eyes meet yours. There's something strange about her. The way she looks at you, the way her voice sounds. It's unnatural, but there's something genuine about it, too. You shake the feeling off and go to sit down, but that's when you feel a rumbling. You can't source the trace, but another screech reaches your ears. You can't stay here for much longer.

What do you do?

i liked that lantern. it was pretty and shiny and glowed when it was on fire. plus, if you run into one of those nomming things, you can empty the oil from the lantern onto it and fire it up. ^-^
