Well I came up with this idea......

What if there was a worldwide language? Everyone could take there own traditional language of course (cause this God-damn world is too stuck up to at least try to change). But everyone would learn this language and at least be able to comunicate to each other without resorting to, "oh my God. That (insert any type of person here cause I don't want to be mean) has a gun in his hand and he just shot that guy... GET 'IM BEFORE HE KILLS US!!!!!!!!!!" Then the person would start speaking his own language and then the other people think its a threat and so on.

That guy with the gun could have been a policeman shooting an armed robber or he could have really been a terrorist but the thing is that we take drastic measures just because we can't understand each other.

Do you think that this is a good idea? I kinda think it is

Maybe not for said reasons but it is a solid idea. Okay people wouldn't suddenly get along or understand each other but duh people are disagreeable. It would make sense 'cause come on we all know who's out there and their language why not invent a new one for everyone to share like uniforms the aliens always wear.
Work on this I'd like to see what you come up with.

okay, maybe I used a too strong of an example. But it would be good like if a natural disaster (cant think of anything else) hits and some guy who speaks Japanese gets internal bleeding and ....wait got a new one.

What if your lost in a foreign country and need to get somewhere so you stop for directions, but you don't speak that language so you need some way to communicate...right?

They say that in the very distant future, there'll only be one race of people - one colour, one culture, one language.

....and when I say 'they', I, of course, mean South Park.

It would definately be helpful, but it would destroy countless cultures and the way many people live. Ew,and the conformity...I definately think a Universal Language would be a bad idea.

...Even though English is the language of science...but that's different.

how would it destroy cultures. I mean it in a way that its just something in the back of your mind that you could use for emergencies.

We would still have our own languages....

It's possible. Languages are merging all the time in what are called creoles, so it's possible that someday we'll all be using words from langauges we will understand. It would be far too troublesome in my opinion for everyone to agree on designing an entirely different language altogether.

Except it died with the Romantic era, and the Romatic languages limit it to only most of Europe.

Yeah guys, a worldwide language already exists. It's called "English"...=O

Seriously, most of the planet learns it. Most of our generation anyway. It all asian contires they have to learn english, in most European countries as well. Africans try to teach their children english, and people inSouth America usually attempt to learn it as well. Why do all these pople learn english? For the hopes of coming to America, or at least communicating with tourists that are visiting their country.

Oh, and Mish...XD, more then South Park has reported that. It's just scientists in general. South park was just the first ones to reference it publicly.

I am going to second Cin here. Its true most of the world does already know english, in Asia because not to be rude, but they can get more jobs on company phone lines for 24 hour service. In Europe because well school is a million times better than here. It is basicly taught in every corner of the globe. Not to mention that if you work in the airline industry such as a pilot, hostess, or anything pertaining to the sect of work, it is required that you know how to speak english for general communication.

... I think music has been around longer. One of the first universal languages. You write it in Guam, people in Russia can understand it, read it, and play it back.

... one of the reasons why I love music so much.

If we go to the root of when today's standardized notation of music and mathematics began, music is older by about two centuries.

Most mathematical notation that is universal to this day wasn't invented until the 16th century. The standard five-line staves that we use today in music came around the 14th century.

The concept of music is also older than mathematics by quite a bit as well.

There is an internationally recognized standard metric system, it's called the International System of Units (aka SI units). This includes the metre, pascals, etc.

Once you hit post-secondary science, all your answers have to be in SI units. It's somewhat frustrating, but oh well.

EDIT: I will say though that there are only three countries on the globe that don't follow/recognize this SI unit system, one being the United States.

There already is a worldwide language. It's called English. So many people in different countries may not speak fluently but still good enough to so others can understand. Like for example some of my relatives don't speak much English but they do know simple things so even that helps. But of course it helps for me to know a little bit of Arabic since that is what they talk. I wish I knew what they were saying about me.:( :( :(
