i arrived at school a bit early and 3 of my classes are in a new building so i decided to check it out. It's beautiful. Everything looks so futuristic and awesome and even the landscaping is nice and wow, it's awesome. So after staring at all this for a bit i decided to find where my computer science room is. So I found it, peered through the windows, and the computers all look really nice. So i turn around, but then I double take because I thought i noticed something on one of them... and sure enough... THEY'RE FUСKING MACS. THEY'RE MACS. THEY WANT TO TEACH ME COMPUTER SCIENCE ...ON MACS. THIS IS GOING TO BE A TERRIBLE YEAR.
Tell me that when you're actually in the field of computer science and then maybe I'll consider what you just said.
It's not so much that I hate Mac (I do, but that's not the issue here) it's that in the field of computer science you only really use Windows and Linux. And here we are using Macs. if they don't have bootcamp prepare for a school shooting.
Pretty much this. Our school has Macs in the library, but their numbers pale extremely to the amount of Windows. And while most applications we use can be used for Macs or Windows, the teachers teach it in Windows. Why teach the minority?
Macs are just too expensive to be a feasible option for most people, especially with the economy with the way it is. Most people use Windows, if you're in computer science, you're going to be working with what most people go with. And they could be doing a bootcamp type thing, or could it possibly be that it's a Mac-specific class? Could you have gotten the room wrong? :c
PC's are more commonly used in the real world. All the schools I've gone to have used PC. I tried using a Mac at one point, but it just got too confusing. And remember, Macs are made by Apple. I have nothing against Apple personally, but they seem to enjoy overpricing stuff that seems to conviently break down whenever Jobs comes up with something new/an update to the software has been added (it happens to my damn iPod all the time. One day, I could be using it with no trouble, then the next day, when I see the little "An Update has bee added" box, my iPod suddenly runs slowly.).
So I just got back from the class. Turns out they have bootcamp and can boot into windows 7. Crisis averted ^_^ Also Spoiler
Well, it's no real news, haha. I still think that Macs are good options for some people, it just depends on your needs. For me, it'd be stupid to spend anywhere near $1000 on a computer and not build it for myself, but for some people, hey, maybe it's an option. Keep in mind too that Macs are kind of fashionable now. It's a brand name you're paying for, just as it is with clothes, shoes, purses, etc. If you want the status that comes with it, then you're going to pay for it, and some people are okay with that. A lot of friends & family come to me before they buy computers and ask me to take a look (I'm sure a lot of you can relate to that, haha. Christmas in my family usually ends up with me getting rid of viruses on their computers), and I tell them this: Decent computers, but very overpriced. I could find you a bunch of Windows computers that have similar if not better specs and are way less, but hey, if you want a Mac, you want a Mac. And I don't really hold any animosity towards Apple for it all, if they can get someone to pay that much then good for them.
I dislike Apple in general. But the kind of thing I hate most is when the people that worship the company buy the newest product (even though yes, they have working versions of the previous iPhone) and show it off like it's some kind of holy ****ing grail. And then claim that you know nothing about computers because you don't have a Mac. :|
There are people who say you don't know anything about computers for not owning a Mac? It seems like Mac is made for people who don't know anything about computers. They put one button the mouse for Christ's sake...
Like I said though, it's a brand name/status thing. Obviously, you're not someone who cares about that sort of thing. Some people are. And I've never really encountered anyone who said that that, as Scarecrow said.
