http://www.matsuricon.org/wp-content/uploads/2012/08/Matsuricon2012_Schedule.pdf What events should I attend? I already plan on getting autographs from these people: Brina Palencia Cathy Weseluck Cheremi Leigh Christopher Sabat Nobuo Uematsu (SQUEE) Scott Freeman Scott McNeil Sonny Strait Doug Walker With that in mind, where should I go to fill my three days during which I might not be able to access KHV?
Yes, that Nobuo Uematsu. He has a Distant Worlds concert on Saturday, so he decided to look for a con to guest at on his day off. I might not be able to get his autograph, but he does have a Q&A that I plan on attending at any cost. Though it might be a little awkward if I do get to meet him, seeing as how I'm cosplaying as Mr. Ono from Persona 3.
Your question should be what you plan to ask, then at the end slip in a "may I have your autograph sir?"
I don't think it's going to be a meet and greet. I'll probably be at the back of the room, asking a question, then waiting for the end of the panel to rush to the front of the room and ask him for his autograph.
Dammit, why won't this man come to Fanime already? >_> Anyways, do what I did. Make a spreadsheet schedule using Google Docs, fill it with things you absolutely MUST attend, then fill in some interesting things you might be interested in, while leaving adequate room for eating, sleeping, showering, and most importantly, shopping. Example: https://docs.google.com/spreadsheet/ccc?key=0AojwYNhOUmRNdHlCVUFvSllIdThKZ283RXBRWjFTRVE
He lives on the East coast? I'll try to get his autograph for you so I can bring it to Fanime when my companion and I show up next year. I could do that, but that would require thinking that 4:30 AM AJ can't do. Eating and sleeping will probably happen sparingly. I have panels to attend. I can get by with only two hours of sleep, right? Yeah, I can. And eating on the move is a thing that happens at cons. I'll do that. As for shopping, I have $20 in spending money, maybe 22 if I can get the guy who's letting me sleep on his couch to give me a ride home on Sunday.
Dude. 3-2-1 Rule. For every 24 hours of convention, you must have at least 3 hours of sleep, 2 meals, and one shower.
Oh yeah, I forgot about the shower part. Yeah, I've got showering covered. As for meals, I might not be able to afford two meals. I've got plenty of snacks, though.
Three day con, you need real food, sir. You might be able to wing it the first day, but your body will hate you by Sunday night if you don't eat properly. I've actually witnessed someone pass out on the convention floor before because they didn't eat enough. (Note that said "real food" can consist of a combination of ramen, pizza, and cheezbergerz. Protip: if your hotel room has a coffee maker, you can use it to boil water for a cup of noodles.)
Ah, I'll be fine on that, then. I've got some raw ramen noodles that I may or may not be able to cook. I also have a bunch of food that I picked up from volunteering at a Mid-Ohio Food Bank affiliated food pantry. Chicken and noodles one day, macaroni and cheese, plus a box of doughnuts and a few cookies. So that's at least two meals. I can probably spare ten bucks for my other meals if necessary, though I'm hoping my temporary con buddy will take pity on me and let me mooch off him a couple times. And besides that, the con ends at 5:30 on Sunday, so I'll be able to get that last meal at home. As for your coffee pot idea, I don't think that'll work. I'm actually just staying at my con buddy's place so I don't have to take the bus every day. That means I won't be able to go back to my room whenever I want. Other than that, I'll be able to handle it. I have bowels of steel. And by steel, I mean mercury, the softest of all metals. So maybe not. If necessary, I'll beg on the streets for food.
