Van Helsing

"It's about the afternoon he left that we don't know about," Van Helsing suddenly theorized. "He'd better not be keeping things from me."

 

Edward grimaced, regretting yelling at Van Helsing. He listened to Hannah and Jinx, waiting for night to fall so he could talk to Hannah alone.

 

"Obviously he is." Carl observed. "But he looks pretty pissed off at the moment, and we don't want you two getting into a fight. So, I'd advise letting him cool off before demanding answers."

 

"What I meant was that you have more experience being a... a vampire." Hannah explained.

"I'm sorry I'm causing trouble...." Beatrice said.

"You haven't caused any trouble yet." Hannah replied.

"Yet." Beatrice hung her head.

 

Van Helsing smiled grimly. "I know. I will let him be... do you..." he beagn uncertainly. "Do you want... to see her?"

 

He won't bother you tonight, Lestat grinned, catching John's thoughts and tuning in quickly. Edward will let you be alone with her.

 

Jinx gave a Hannah a sharp look. "Hannah, could you please attempt to be kinder to her at the moment?" she asked, although her tone made it clear she wasn't truely asking. Then she looked at Beatice, "You're not causing anymore trouble than Hannah or me, so don't worry about that part, okay? It's not your fault at all."

Carl looked uncertain. "I don't know. Jinx did say to stay away from Beatice at the moment... shouldn't we listen?"

 

Beatrice nodded, still looking at the ground.

"We'll need to get you a cloak. Be thankful for the clouds." Hannah said.

Beatrice squeaked.

Hannah patted Beatrice's shoulder. "It's okay, Beatrice. Like I said, there's clouds. And in a few hours, the sun will go down."

 

"yeah, and I can make you look compeltly human for the day." Jinx added, smiling at her, "If you want, that is."

 

"Do it," Van Helsing said, stepping over to them now. "I mean," he tried to calm his voice for Jinx, "please try to make her feel... better."

 

"Hannah," Edward called out, feeling lonely and worried. He wanted to stay distanced from Beatrice, but hated being alone. "Can I talk to you?"

 

"It might help if you two would stay a more comfortable distance from her for the moment." Jinx pointed out, looking straight at Van Helsing.

Carl had walked with Van Helsing over but silently agreed with Jinx, he wasn't too keen to be too close to a newborn vampire, no matter how nice she was.

 

Hannah rolled her eyes at Van Helsing. "Stay with Jinx." She said to Beatrice and then joined Edward in the carriage. "Are you okay?" She asked, noticing he sounded upset.

John grit his teeth. "Thank you. What pain did you inflict on him now?"

 

Not too much, Lestat began, pleased with himself. I've gottten him afraid of me enough that he's actually listening to and considering words of advice...

 

"Sorry," Van Helsing muttered. "Carl shall be depressed now."

 

"How is she?" he whispered. "I'd ask myself, but I don't want to bother her."

 

Carl shrugged at Jinx when she looked at him questionly after Van helsing's comment. He looked away from them all.Why must he have such a large mouth...

"Van Helsing, look, i'm sorry. But you guys can only cause more trouble than help at the moment." Jinx said, looking back at Van Helsing. "Just give us some room, okay? It'll make things easier and faster, I promise."

 

Hannah lowered her eyes. "She'll be fine. She has help." She couldn't stop the memories that came of her time alone.

Beatrice looked at Van Helsing, completely confused. "Why would he be depressed?"

"Good." John replied. "That makes things easier for me. Once again, why are you doing this?"

 

"No reason," Van Helsing shrugged. "Now," he began. "Carl and I, being the only humans here now, would like to actually get some rest. Riding awake and driving awake the whole time at night isn't fun... I'm getting some rest."

 

"I'm sorry," Edward mumbled, touching her shoulder. "Listen, there is something I need to talk to you about, but no one else can hear it yet."
