Happy Birthday M'dear

I have the original Xbox and I never use it... I'm considering trading it into Gamestop and getting a few PS3 games, but it's sort of serving as my DVD player at the moment. xD

I've unfortunately not read much yet. :C I got a PS3 a few days ago and that's been occupying my time, heh. Plus I put a temporary pause on it since I have to read The Scarlett Letter for school.

The Great Gatsby was just so difficult for me to get through, I didn't love the way it was told nor did I really agree with the theme at all. I don't know, it just really bothered me, haha.
Haha well I've never had a reason to go to the eye doctor but that sounds like a lot of fun.

I've wanted to be an English teacher since I was pretty young, it's just with the recent job market I don't think it'd be a wise choice. :c I'm hoping to do some sort of a double major, if it's possible--that way I have a backup in case the teaching doesn't work out, or so that I can do something until the demand for teachers is better. I'd love to teach High School AP too, that's when literature gets interesting and you can have real discussions about it with your students. It's so personal sometimes, I love hearing others opinions and interpretations.

I haven't read Heart of Darkness or Wuthering Heights (though I believe Heart of Darkness is apart of the curriculum next year, and I'd like to read Wuthering Heights). I absolutely loathed The Great Gatsby though.

Oh definitely, there are books you read for enjoyment and books you get enjoyment out of but that also have meat to them.

Haha I actually am considering teaching English so I figure I have to start getting the must reads out of the way... I spent far too many years just re-reading Harry Potter. :x I started with Sense and Pride since I already own copies (my mom is into Jane Austen), I'm hoping to scoop them all up once Borders has some good going out of business sales.

The only bad thing I can say is that everytime I read a book now I just compare it to Jane Austen's, haha.

Haha well actually I would have lengthy conversations with my English teacher last year about why she needed to read Jane Austen and what a travesty it was that she hadn't yet.

Which of her books have you read? So far I've gotten through Sense & Sensibility and Pride & Prejudice, I'm really excited for Emma but I'm unsure if anything can top Pride & Prejudice.
