Jebediah sized Dylan up accordingly, this wasn't the first time they'd met, well... not for Jebediah anyway, he figured Dylan would just see him as yet another officer but Jebediah always noticed the man wondering around following invisible trails no one else could see, it was remarkable and his work was honestly admirable for an amateur; and he respected that, Although there was one thing that shattered that respect, why freelance? he could do just as much if not more working for the constabulary! To Jebediah it was selfish to keep talents such as his behind fees, he could really help people yet seemingly chooses to help himself first.
"Hello, I'm Sargent Crowne of Eredan Police, I'm looking for a miss Kara Webb?" Jebediah asked keenly, he noticed one thing in the brief half second that was before Dylan's reply, he was fast thinking, even faster then himself "Bugger" He thought as he tried to read the man.
"Kara Webb you say?" Dylan remarked
This set Jebediah off, he knew Dylan would have heard him and wouldn't be confused, this was a classic gang tactic to proclaim a name asked for loudly allowing the person in question to be alerted "I might have heard of her, what's she done?"
Jebediah raised his eyebrows and looked condescendingly at Dylan for a moment "Well nothing yet..." he said before pulling the file from his belt, uncoiling it to show to Dylan the case file title "I'm here to ask questions about her Aunties death" Jebediah commented "I'd also appreciate if you could arrange a private room for me and her to have a chat about it here, it's a long walk back to the station I've already done it twice today" Jebediah smiled as he put the folder back on his belt and took a single step towards the door "Oh, and just incase it wen't over your head... I know she works here."

Jebediah found himself stood before the ramshackled building that was Hythem investigations, a train wizzed past on the overpass and he could swear he saw it shake, this suprised Jebediah to some degree as he has worked with Dylan before allowing him to survey crime scenes and always seemed to muster impressive results, he didn't however respect Dylan's insistence on working outside the constabulary, there was no reason for it in Jebediah's eyes, just yet another step to take in getting a problem sorted. Due to this, with respect and caution in tow, he walked up to the old rotting door and knocked "Hello, I'm Sargent Crowne, I'm looking for Kara Webb?" He muttered to himself awaiting an answer.

Jebediah had a fair walk ahead of him but was in no rush, after-all he was just filling in his day at this point rather then for-filling any particular duties however the job never ended for him, keeping his eyes peeled for the walk, reliably 12 minutes into this stroll he saw it, A man wearing a black bandanna across his mouth slid past a wealthy looking woman removing her bag from her shoulder and bolting behind an Ally, Before the woman could call for her Jebediah already crossed the street and ran down the ally in pursuit, after a few turns he came to a T junction unsure what direction the criminal too, two young men couldn't be older then 20 stood talking at the end of the alleyway "What way did he go?!" Jebediah demanded
"Depends" came a reply from the more confident looking man as he checked his nails "How much is it worth too you?"
Jebediah rolled his eyes, Grabbed the man by his collar lifting him an inch off the ground an slammed him against the wall before dropping him and moving onto the second one
"I assume you wan't money too?" Asked Jebediah his eyes stern enough to pierce through him
"He looked like a Black Dragon Brotherhood member!" He exclaimed in panic as a tears welled in his eyes "They have a hideout to down that way on the left behind the red door!"
Jebediah leaned back in shock at how much this man knew and nodded him thanks as he walked past him leaving his welling up. Just as the boy had stated Jebediah found himself at a red door the hinges were old and the door rotten, a swift kick from his clockwork legs knocked the door from its hinges as 2 men and a women adorned in black looking in shock towards the man who now filled the doorway, he clicked his knuckled
"So, are we going to do this the easy way? or the hard way...".
5 minutes later Jebediah walked back out the ally he entered at first and saw the woman at a phone box frantically describing details, Jebediah passed the woman her bag and gestured to take the phone
"Thank you so much!" She exclaimed as she passed the phone Jebediah Smiled back as he took the phone "Sargent Crowne of the Eredan Constabulary, at 4 Roseberry street there are 3 Black Dragon Brotherhood members handcuffed to a radiator in the corner, send a squad to collect them" Jebediah hung up the phone and turned to see the woman holding out a five crown note for him "Please take it, it's the least I can do" Jebediah just smiled and held up his hand "Don't worry ma'am, we don't take tips.".

Jebediah took the fastest way back to the station he knew, he was annoyed with himself that he let someone get away, it wasn't the first time and he knew it wouldn't be the last, doesn't mean that it didn't sting a little when he lost her, it was about midday when he finally got back to the station and he found himself sat at his cubicle, clean and we'll maintained people would think but he knew it was just never used, he sat at his desk with a type writer in front of him and began to tap away creating a report on this morning's encounter, he had it finished in minutes and was ready to file it away likely to never be looked again. Jebediah was bored already, He knew with the imperial guard presence he wouldn't be needed in the plaza, He filed away his report and found himself staring gormlessly at a wall of filing cabinets, Frustrated he opens the drawer for cold cases and grabs a file close to him and slides the draw shut, he opens it, Arson, Of course he did reach in section "A" after all, He glanced over at Penelope to see if she was looking his way, she wasn't, He took the file back to his cubical and began to read... The File was poorly written, sloppy notes and brief details, He was able to deduce a few things however, It was deemed arson as the fire seemed to start from outside the property, a woman named Calliope aged 48 perished in the flames, Her niece Kara Webb, age 18 was staying with her when the fire happened, despite escaping the blaze she was badly burned and her left hand was scorched, despite the seriousness the case was dropped after no evidence turned up after a week of investigating so the case was left open waiting for someone to be arrested who fitted the bill. None of this however is why Jebediah took this file to heart, it was 3 letters attached in the file that talked about frequent station visits by Kara asking what was being done about her aunties death, "Poor girl..." He thought, Jebediah leaned back in his chair and looked at the ceiling for a moment before glancing out the window, he saw 3 children run by playing, in this moment he thought about what this must of done to this girl at a young tender age and the idea of her being ignored time and time again mean't she couldn't be in a good state now, He rolled the file and slid it into his belt and walked to the front desk "Hey Penelope" He exclaimed "Can you find me details on a Kara Webb?"
Penelope looked up to Jebediah about to give one of her scripted responses to him but paused
"Looking for a girl?" she enquired,
    Jebediah was quick to respond
    "It's for a case I'm looking into"
Penelope got up and moved to the wall of filing cabinets and opened a draw and pulled out an employment form with the name Webb, Kara
"Is this her?" She asks passing the file
"I'm not sure, but it's worth chasing up; Haythem investigations? Dylan's lot?" Jebediah questioned as he thought back to previous cases that a teal haired man would snoop around his crime scenes
"Indeed" Penelope replied "I believe you will find them near saviour square, just under the train tracks"
Jebediah thanks her as he walks out the door of the constabulary.

Jebediah stretched his legs to the farthest extent he could, he wouldn't been shown up by some girl, he ran and kept pace, wall hopping around the vendor before landing on his feet, he see's the Kara adorn herself in a hood heading for the crowd he had one shot, he could just about tackle her... he came short. His eyes widen as he hurdles to the ground, he turns it into a forward roll, he stumbles and the crowd scattered to engulf him but quickly encircles him, Jebediah finishes the roll then stands up right and pivots around, He lost her. This will go on record, he heads back to the constabulary to write up his report.

Jebediah ran his eyes up and down his target, A young girl, early twenties, Purple hair, robotic left hand, Beautiful and armed. He examined her quickly, he could tell she was talking but he's learned its pretty safe to zone out the first wave on insults that the people he apprehends usually throw, he was about to speak before the eruption from The Ministry quickly turned his attention for a moment before hearing... Something about her legs? He turns his attention back to her "That might be something you should attend to. You know, protecting the weak and all that." Jebediah didn't appreciate this and began the usual spiel "You have the right to-..." Jebediah is interrupted by her continued babble, that does't usually happen. "So it has been a pleasure meeting you, and I would say I would love to meet again. But I don't." she saluted him then turned heel, Jebediah reacted as quickly as he could in this moment and reached for his pistol holster, a second has passed, He thinks of the benefits of taking the shot, Take out a leg and she'll come in just fine and won't be running, Another second passes, This is a public place and all she did is steal bread, is it worth the possible public panic? No, he could almost hear the voice of Lynda Rochester now "Why did you waste your time on a petty food thief?!" A third second passes, No, its not worth it, he leaves his gun holstered, she's 4 seconds ahead, Jebediah Grins "Child's play..." he mutters and he makes chase through the crowd.

Jebediah awoke from his bed in the early morning on the 8th of winters reign, 2087, and immediately lept from his bed to the bathroom and showered under a lukewarm pour before stepping out, drying himself then adorning himself in his uniform. He stood staring at himself in the mirror for minutes analysing his uniform, his shirt must be tucked in yet his top button undone, his jacket having every strap done tightly to his frame and his trousers tucked neatly into the top of his clockwork cruses before sashing himself with his pistol in holster and his sword; Silver Shimmer, tied to his hip and he nodded with approval and climbed out his window to his fire escape. Jebediah hasn't used his front door in some time, infact if his rent wasn't being paid odds are the landlord would have probably assumed he was dead! This was because Jebediah found himself a routine that suited him best and it began with the 4 children stood waiting for him at the bottom; "Morning Urchins." He said grinning, one child, a young girl he hadn't met before giggled while the other 3 young boys smiled
"Mornin' ta you too sarge!" the eldest, no older then 11 replied "Last night no gang activity to report but today's market has been targeted by some of our circles for thievin', sir."
Jebediah tucked his chin for a moment and nodded,
"thank you, i'll make sure the station is aware." he replied placing his hand on the boys shoulder before pulling aside his collar to reveal a home made Eredan Constabulary badge made from a bottle cap, some blue clay and a pin "They'll make an investigator out of you yet Edward" Edward smiled up to Jebediah before a loud bang and a woman's scream at the end of the ally alerts the 5 of them, Jebediah ushers the 4 deeper into the ally but before he knows it they've already scattered, he clips his heals and sprints down the ally to the source of the disturbance. A short while later Jebediah stumbles into North Constable Station towing a poorly dressed man behind him before placing him in a chair in the waiting room "Wait here." He said sternly before turning to reception, hearing the chaos this early in the morning Penelope didn't even have to look up from her paperwork
"Morning Sargent Crowne." She remarked "Whats this one in for?"
Jebediah brushed himself down, not a scratch on him
"attempted robbery at the end of my street" he places a small cheap gun on the table as Penelope looked up
"Well I don't think he'll be making that mistake again for some time" She ushers two waiting constables who grab the man and take him out back to the cells "Anything else worth reporting?"
Jebediah pauses for a moment before looking at his duty slip waiting on her desk "Market Patrol" it read clear as day
"Not this time, Pen." he says pulling his slip from her desk and turning to head for the door, as he walks out he see's his boss Lynda Rochester walk past him on the staircase, despite a subtle nod she didn't seem to notice him.

Jebediah walked up and down the market for a few minutes, spotting the children would be thieves, none needing more then a hand on the shoulder and a disproving gaze, it didn't take long before it seemed no threat befell the market at all and so he found himself being able to walk around and talking to curious members of the public, he was used to this, everyone wanting to know what the Constabulary had planned for all the rampant crime, standard procedure; assure them it was being dealt with but give no details. While giving this rendition to a concerned female senior citizen however he noticed something out of the corner of his eye, a girl hair and eyes pink glanced at him he averted eye contact from the woman to see this girl stuff a loaf of bread in her back and begin to briskly walk away, as she glanced over he shoulder Jebediah turned his attention as if it never shifted from the woman, he quickly apologised and informed her he had a Job to do. He had only had a moment but he felt he had this girl figured, poor, New Havenite and cautious, he would need subtlety, he lept and began to climb a fire escape to the roof of one of the building skirting the ally she went down, once at the top it didn't take long to spot that ridiculous hair in the crowd stood gazing at a shop window for a few moments allowing him to catch up to her head start, without wishing to alarm anyone Jebediah perused her for a short while, she always looked back but never up, He waited patiently for his moment to interrupt her, spotting one and leaping down the building in front of her
"EC! HALT." he stated staring her down; Sword drawn and aimed.

"THIS IS A MOCKERY!" Ludwick exclaims slamming a copy of The Westwood Informer "NOT EVEN HERE A DAY AND THEY'RE ALREADY SINKING TO SLANDER" the reporters sat in front on Ludwick seem confused as if they hadn't noticed the source of his rage, Ludwick takes a deep breath and continues his debriefing "Okay, as you all know we have finally finished renovations here on our new offices here in Eredan and now it's time to put the Gallows Gazette back on the map!"
He is interrupted by a unified
"Yeah!" by the reporters before he continues
"It's become clear to me that The Westwood Informer is renowned for corruption in favour of this cities Elite, I want you all to go out into that city and find me the stories they don't want the public reading and bring it to the masses!"
    once again a
"Yeah?!" erupts but with a bit of hesitation
"and if we get this information fast and printed fast more people will want to buy it... which you all know means more money in your pockets... NOW GET OUT THERE AND FIND ME A STORY WORTH SHARING!" all the reporters immediately get up and bustle out of the single door that exists the boardroom as Ludwick leans back in his glamorous executive chair and spins it to the window to overlook Eredan, lights a cigar, and grins.

Johns eyes slowly opened as light seeped into them for the first time in what felt like moments but in fact had been a few days, he waited a moment allowing his eyes to adjust to the light before swinging his legs over the side of his bed, he felt a tug oh his arm as he looked down he saw a wire jutting from him hooked to a machine, with cautions hands he pulled the tubing from his arm and he stood from his bed and looked around his room still dazed by the lights but he felt he was in a safe place seeing his jacket and trousers folded at the base of his bed he changed from his patient gown quickly into his normal clothes and after slipping on his beanie walked for the door, he reached out and pulled the door handle and took one step into the corridor before collapsing, sending a clear thud down the corridors of whatever hospital he had been taken too...

But stil its an amazing idea and I'm sure the developers will be fixing all the issues within weeks of its release. Okay, so I am a film buff and have been a massive fan of the recent slew of marvel movies and just watching other properties try and follow and create franchises, my issue with this however is are enough heroes dying?
I bring this up because the last two massive universe movies were Batman V Superman and Civilwar, one better then the other we all know what one moving on...

In both they seemingly killed off 2 heroes but at the end copped out, I bring this up because I worry movie companies are worried to kill of their main characters due to fan favoritism and the fact that character carries fans, the same thing applies in comics when they don't kill off the main members permanently like The Joker in DC comics.

As for games, we are more towards people dying however I feel this trend is going out of fashion, the last game I remember someone killing off the lead was resistance 2 and that's because the guy who killed him became the protagonist. So in all forms of the media I love I worry the reliance on franchise is keeping heroes from dying and this is an issue as it starts to remove suspense and makes stories predictable.

So my question for you is do you think the desire to keep characters alive is a problem or do you see it as unimportant, please share your thoughts! Cheerio chaps!

2 opinions, 1. I hope they don't turn this too much into an action movie as that's what the trailer looks like, 2. From the makers of Godzilla? Well if they never leave the Island and save that for a sequal we could be in the running for one of the greatest crossovers of all time to happen again?! Probably not but its fun to imagine.

This is one of those black and white number scenarios, sure 5>1 is true but it's such a fun question because the question isn't about whether you'd pull the lever its whether or not you want to let yourself be part of a tragedy. So to review, you pull the lever you killed a guy but saved 5, great! but not pulling the lever means you chose to spare a mans life condemning 5, despite it not being your fault; BUT! It depends if you apply the spider-man code of power and responsibility, you having a chance to save those 5, does that mean you choosing not to save them is just as bad as killing them? ARGH! Complicated stuff. I hope those rambles made sense.
