"I risked too much," Xardius gasped, obviously under physical pain from all the power rushing into him. "I'm at the limit of power itself. There's only so much one man can bear. I'm just a human in the end, Wing. I need the Virus to be able to control this..."

Swinging his sword, he pushed Wing back steadily. "I must have it! Give it to me!"

With a last swing, he brought Wing into the air, the Virus falling out of Wing's pocket as he did so. Xardius' hand reached out to grab it...

Xardius sucked up the flames like a vacuum cleaner where they reached him, channeling it into his hands and adding his own power to it, blasting it back at Vecked in a huge column of fire.

At the same time, he dove forward, hand outstretched for the Virus.

The next instant Xardius' blade was flashing for Vecked's throat as he streaked across the battlefield, letting his sword lead the way.

"I know what you're thinking!" Xardius snarled. "But..."

"Xane!" Xardius yelled, grabbing him. "It's about to get crazy. Unless you want to die...Get back through that portal!"

Throwing Xane backwards, Xardius extended his hands and with a wordless roar let it out.

Power smashed down like a hammer, three times what Wing was holding. The earth was literally cracking away from him as Xardius simply let his power flood him, letting it grind its way through him, jetting outwards in a steady stream.

"You feel this!" Xardius roared. "I can't control it forever! I need the Virus to stop my power from going...! I don't want to go insane!"

Pulling his sword out, Xardius pointed it at Vecked, then slowly pointed it at Wing.

"I don't want to fight you, Wing!" Xardius said. "But I'll do what I have to. I will have the Virus!"

"You've both got it wrong!" Xardius said, standing in the flames untouched. "I'm taking the Virus, got it!?"

He extended a hand. "Wing, give me the Virus!"

"Why did I bother...?" Xardius growled, closing his portal. "Never mind." Xardius dove into the portal after Wing.

Xardius' fists clenched. "Venture, I hope this thing has a really good hull...If we're going to fight, we've got to take this somewhere else...Wing, get Vecked through this portal!"

He extended a hand and opened a portal to the twilight, gasping with the strain since he wasn't a twilight user. "Hurry!"

"Xardius," Enigma said as Wing began walking away. "You don't know who Tera Roth's brother is, right?"

Xardius nodded slowly. "I never found out."

"Would it surprise you to know that it's Dyran Dirge?" Enigma asked with that smile still on his face.

Xardius shrugged. "It explains why they look alike."

Enigma stood. "Well, I have to go now, but I'll see when you...attack."

Waving, he opened a portal and disappeared.

Xardius sighed. "I hope he doesn't rat us out...Scourge might want us to kill him, but I doubt any of the other members even have wind of his plan. None of them will want to die."

EDIT: "Venture, where is Wing going?" Xardius asked after a moment, walking up. "I didn't hear anything about this..."

    OOC: Fine with me.

BIC: Enigma's head turned to stare at Wing and he smiled, a smile that chilled the air and never reached his eyes...

"That's it exactly, Xane," Enigma said, not taking his eyes off Wing.

Xardius closed his eyes. "I don't hate Rune, Wing." He opened his eyes, blazing with such fury. "I hate myself. I never was strong enough to help him. He took it all on himself. I wanted to help, but he thought that something might happen. He was right, and...I've never gotten to see the real him again. He's done terrible things, and it's all because I wasn't strong enough."

Xardius gritted his teeth. "So I'll end it. I'll end his pain, and my own with my own two hands!"

OOC: You maybe saw it coming...

BIC: Enigma sat down in Vecked's chair. "Well, that concludes my research."

Xardius leaned back against the wall, fury on his face. "Research? It's none of your business."

Enigma shrugged. "I'm like that. You should tell them the whole story."

Xardius sighed. "Scourge was the brother of Tera Roth's mother, his uncle. They're not the same person. Tera Roth had a brother, but I never met him. Other than clearing that up, Wing, the rest of the story's true, except for me not knowing him very well."

"Rune and I were best friends," Xardius said. "We were both orphans, and saved by Oblivion. He used us as pet projects to create the ultimate fighting force. We both became Phoenicians through that. I don't know what went wrong, but I met Rune later, and he was calling himself Scourge."

"There's more," Enigma said. "Kingdom Hearts."

Xardius shook his head. "I'm not getting into it."

"Very well," Enigma said. "I'll tell them. Kingdom Hearts was a by product of Oblivion's experiment. It was all a project designed to kill the person Oblivion hated most. When Rune learned that he'd been used, he sabotaged the plan with Xardius's help. That's why the Heartless appeared, because Kingdom Hearts had a problem. Further, because Oblivion had to merge his power along with that of the other powerful magicians, his soul was torn from his body. Oblivion's soul became lodged within Rune, and Scourge was born. Rune is coherent at times. At other times, he's as mad as Oblivion was."

Xardius frowned. "I didn't know that..."

"It hardly matters," Enigma said. "Rune set this up so you would kill him. He can't hold on to sanity forever."

Xardius didn't say anything for a while. "She died a little while ago. One of her sons died..."

"Darryl von Karrte-Tera Roth," Enigma said, stepping from a portal. "Am I right?"

Xardius shot up. "It doesn't matter, does it?"

Enigma smiled slightly. "I thought so. So tell me, did that little boy really die?"

Xardius shrugged uncomfortably. "I said so, didn't I?"

"You said he sacrificed himself," Enigma pushed. "That's not the same. Is that boy dead or isn't he?"

    Xardius squirmed. "...............No."

"Where is he?" Enigma said, his voice hard and his eyes piercing.

"I'm going to go kill him," Xardius growled, suddenly fierce. "It's Scourge, got it?"

"No, it really happened," Xardius said, as though to himself. "I just remembered...hearing about it. I didn't know the kid personally. I knew his sister though. Good girl. She got married, had some kids, y'know...lived happily ever after. Or so it goes."

Xardius stared at Xane for a moment, then closed his eyes, rubbed his temples, and sighed.

"Fine, I got another one, alright?"

"So, this one's not about me, really...Well, whatever. So this one's about this guy who was born on some dingy world in the middle of nowhere. His parents were killed in an accident while he was in middle school, and he ended up living on the streets with his little sister. His little sister could use magic, the really strong kind that only shows up once in a millennium, and he wasn't too shabby either. Suddenly, out of the blue, his entire city was attacked by shadowy figures who killed the other orphans he'd been living with. They were only saved through the actions of one man, a man named Oblivion. Oblivion took them in after wiping the villains out, and began training the kid in how to use his power. His sister got training as well, and soon went on to an elite school where she became a really powerful sorceress. But this about the boy."

"The boy became so skilled that Oblivion asked him if he would help with an experiment. An experiment that would change his life. Since he owed Oblivion everything, the boy agreed."

"Oblivion gave him intense magical power, stronger than anyone ever before. The boy was able to use this to literally work miracles, to defeat any foe. Then he learned the truth: Oblivion had been the leader of those shadowy figures the night his world died. With a few new friends who had shared the same fate as he had, he attempted to stop Oblivion. He won the battle, but in the process, he lost his life. So ends the story of that little boy I used to know."

"Huh," Xardius finished. "That was a sad one..."

Xardius looked crestfallen. "You could have laughed or something...All right, fine...This will come in three parts, so be prepared."

    "Part 1: I Get Hired."

"OK, so as I was just like wandering through some random city in the middle of nowhere, carrying my giant sword and altogether looking rather ripped, I was stopped in the middle of the square by an angry mob. When I inquired what the matter was, all but one fled. I guess I glared too much or something. The only guy who didn't flee asked me if I could help protect their village."

"Being a kind-hearted fellow, and getting kind of hungry, I agreed to protect the village in return for meals as long as I stayed, and there was something to fight. So that was that mainly."

    "Part 2: The Problems Start."

"No, no dragons here, but there was this band of robbers, see. Turns out that the head of the police in the city was engaged to the leader of the robbers, or some such. But she didn't want to marry him because he turned out to be a real player, and she broke it off. When he attacked somebody in the bar after she dumped him, she exiled him from the city, and that's where I came him. Him and his buddies had been raiding the village and generally making a ruckus for some time, so I decided I'd take them out. The next time they came...I was waiting."

    "Part 3: I Rule."

"The guy showed up with his buddies. I planted myself in the middle of the street and told them to get lost. That's where the fun began. He pulled a gun and shot at me, and I dodged of course. Being shot at doesn't really put me in a good mood, so I pulled out my sword. His two buddies attacked me simultaneously, a smart thing to do, but it didn't really help. I knocked them out cold without any blood shed, and then the ex-fiance was all over me."

"The guy was stronger than I thought, and he even had a sword too. He was fast, faster than I'd thought possible from such a stupid-looking pervert. It took all my skill as a swordsman to even keep him from putting some holes in me. I couldn't even attack. Luckily for me, he broke off, and I gave him everything I had. But I couldn't find an opening. Back and forth across the square we danced, swords flashing. Then he stumbled over a stray rock and I knocked him on the head, tied him up, and threw him in jail. The next day I moved on."

    Xardius smirked. "There you go."

EDIT OOC: I get it, my joke and story were too much for you! That's right, run away and go offline...

"Well, I do have a joke..." Xardius said. "But it's not good at all..."

"Two blondes were driving down a road, discussing the negative way everyone thought about their intelligence. As they were talking, one blonde looked to the side, and said, 'There. Look. That's just what I'm talking about.' For off to the side was another blonde who was rowing a boat....in the middle of a cornfield. The first blonde said, 'It's blondes like that that gives us blondes a bad name.' The second one nodded in agreement. 'Yes, I tell you, if I could swim, I'd go out there and give him a piece of my mind.'"

    Xardius paused and waited.
