OOC: No, not yet...I'll do that right now I guess...

BIC: Ziya looked around. "Creepy place. This is where Tera Roth is..."

Tyre was silent for a moment. "I'm not sure...He might be...Never mind, let's just not mention him when we meet the UO."

"Uh, sure," Ziya said. "Where are they?"

"The light passageway," Tyre said, walking down it. "Keep an eye out for the Virus..."

Ziya shrugged. "That's why I'm here isn't it."

    Tyre smiled slightly. "Yes."

OOC: Me too. Great stuff last night. Hmm, I need a character here to respond with...OK, let me think of who's available...and someone who would be capable of fighting the Virus...

    Next post I'll have somebody.

Tera Roth looked back at Alyt. "Too late."

He turned back and fell forwards, into the lake of light, disappearing into the brightness...

OOC: And that's my night. See you guys tomorrow.

Blood dripped onto the floor as Tera Roth stumbled forward. His hand was clenched over the rip in his shirt, holding his stomach together as blood leaked between his clenched fingers.

"It's not a choice I had," Tera Roth mumbled. "It's over...You took too long, Xardius...I can't live like this."

He looked up and saw Alyt. He blinked. "Don't blame me. I couldn't help you any more than I could help myself."

He blinked again and she was gone. He licked his lips and looked around, spying Tyre and Highwind.

"You know, don't you? Why...I have to..." They were gone. Xardius stood before him.

"It's your fault," Tera Roth wheezed, coughing blood onto the ground. "You promised..."

Xardius wavered into Alyt, and Tera Roth shook his head. "I tried to love you. But I couldn't. I tried to make you replace her. But in the end, you were just another one of my pawns. I'm sorry. I hope my money will make things right."

He laughed bitterly. "What am I talking about? Money...I sound like Nulix..."

Stumbling forward, he saw Tyre once again. "It's only you and Highwind now. I can't help any longer."

Highwind stepped in front of him, and he stopped. "Prolonged death scenes were never my favorite. And you're just an apparition."

Snarling, Tera Roth moved his way towards the light...

OOC: I'm seriously confused now. What exactly is going on and why is Vecked screaming like he's being murdered!?

EDIT: Oh well, I don't suppose it matters.

BIC: Tera Roth scrambled back into the passageway, muttering angrily to himself. The Virus was still here somewhere.

He quickly looked through the light room. Nothing. Not a shadow.

Tera Roth's eyes narrowed. "Is that right...?"

He heard the shifting of sand behind him, and he smiled. He looked over his shoulder at the Virus as it stared at him with hate-filled eyes.

"Gotcha," Tera Roth grinned, and the Virus struck.

    Tera Roth opened his mouth.

Inside the light, a shape was forming. A thing made of many parts...

"Uh-oh," Tera Roth said. "That didn't do it."

The Virus finished forming itself, and stretched. Tera Roth's eyes widened in panic as he saw that the Virus looked stronger, more defined.

"I don't think..." he began, and then the Virus attacked, blasting them backwards with its sand, smashing Tera Roth clear up the passageway and back into Twilight Town where he slammed into the pavement with a crack.

"We messed up," Tera Roth coughed, heaving himself to his feet. "Darkness grows more defined the more light there is...What should have been it's weakness is actually its strength. Wing, Vecked, we have to lure it into the other side! The darkness!"

OOC: ..........You RESPONDED to it, and we discussed it. We then discussed Tera Roth. Remember now?

The whole plan here was to bring the Virus to where it was weakest and shatter it with Wing and Vecked's power. Tera Roth was there to make sure it all went according to plan.

BIC: Tera Roth's eyes narrowed. "Wing?"

Tera Roth motioned to Vecked. "Do your stuff here. I'm gonna stay by the passageway..."

OOC: How we going to do this NULIX. Gosh, that's the second time...

    Yes, I edited.

OOC: I waited all that time for a one line response to my post...

BIC: Light slowly filled the tunnel, and then after about ten minutes, the cavern widened into light that stretched as far as the eye could see, which wasn't very far, considering the light was blinding them.

Tera Roth squinted, trying not to look at the light. "Here's good; if we go any farther, I'm not sure we'll ever get out..."

OOC: That's...five posts a page in length. Five pages of character development (though in my case, it was a little bit less of that).

BIC: Tera Roth moved to the center of the detonation, where the floor had splintered. Two corridors moved away from each other at an angle, descending at a slight angle.

Tera Roth considered a moment, then motioned for the right passage. "We'll go down there."

    He suited action to words.

Tera Roth shrugged uncomfortably, and looked around. He tried not to show how nervous he was.

"Well, then," he said, following Wing, leading them around patches he felt were wrong with his twilight powers, and finally reaching the mansion.

"It's just a little further..." he said, opening the mansion door. Inside the room was an absolute wreck, with swirls of twilight moving around the room, and seemingly emanating from a hole in the floor.

"This twilight shouldn't be dangerous if we touch it...if we don't stay near it for too long," Tera Roth said. "That hole should take us down there."

He peered into it. "But it's a long way down...Wing, can you use your wind...?"

Wing lifted the three of them with wind, and nodded. They descended through the floor, settling in the ruins of the once majestic underground city.

"This is where Xardius let off the bomb," Tera Roth muttered, looking around at the decimated buildings, most of them leaning away from the center. "He took out as much as he could. Made it uninhabitable..."

    ***

Tyre's eyes betrayed nothing as he pulled a paper out of his pocket, handing it to Alyt.

"That's Tera Roth's will, leaving everything he has to you. Everything you can use, that is. That's the first part of the message," Tyre said. "You won't have to worry about money. Tera Roth had his own family money, nearly ten trillion dollars total."

"The second part," Tyre said, pausing for a moment, "is: 'This is goodbye, Alyt. Don't squander my gift.'"

Tyre shifted his feet, as if pondering something, then muttered. "He's not coming back, Alyt. Don't waste his last efforts to see you happy."

And with those words, he twisted and walked away, fulling expecting Alyt to simply throw the will in the flames. Stubborn...

OOC: Cool beans. Well, to respond I'll...

BIC: Tyre knocked on Alyt's door. "Hey. Smoking's bad for you. ...... I have a message for you, from Tera Roth."

    ***

The ship neared the broken world of Twilight Town, which was shimmering. Tera Roth shivered. If they entered one of those shimmering pools of twilight, he didn't know if they'd ever get out.

Carefully guiding the ship around the twilight shards, he landed on a broken walkway that jutted from the city.

"We'll have to walk from here...to the mansion and then down inside...into the world's heart," Tera Roth said, climbing from the seat. "We should hurry."

    ***
Highwind stode through the darkness with the other Guardians, his face grim and tight. Behind him, the other Guardians looked apprehensive, afraid, and angry.

Highwind paused and raised a hand, creating an exit.

"Into the beast we go," he muttered, and stepped through.

    ***

Mordeth spat blood, shuddering as his wounds slowly closed. It was if Xardius had become life itself. Pain still racked his body. Pain was foreign. He didn't like it. Snarling, he promised to kill that man the next time they met.

Scourge watched Mordeth impassively, seated at his desk, his hands resting in front of him.

"One more," Scourge said softly. "Just one more day."

    ***

Across the universe, he sat. His body was covered in bites and cuts, and what little clothing he wore hung in grimy tatters, hardly visible from his dirty skin. His breath came in rasps, and sickness was apparent from even a casual observer.

His newest cut was a broad slash across his back, which was slowly oozing thick blood, caking yet another layer on him. The sun beat down on him, drying the blood with sheer heat, causing his other wounds to itch and crack.

The pain was almost unbearable, but the man didn't move. To move was to feel worse pain.

He didn't know how long he'd sat there when a shadow eclipsed the sun.

Slowly, the man's head turned, his eyes focusing on the shadow's source.

One word escaped his lips, just a whisper on the wind. ".......No....."

    ***

And, lying on a field of bloody grass, as army personnel moved towards him, Xardius Lionheart's broken body stood on its feet.

He heard the shocked gasp of an officer as he cracked his neck, and spit out a few bullets.

"Next time, shoot me more," Xardius muttered as his hands clenched around his sword and he walked away, not bothering to look back at the stunned UPA.

OOC: Another one! Oh well, at least I came up with some plot...

And Wing! But I gotta go...

OOC: Yeah, sorry about that. I got kicked off during the middle of my post...That's what I get for not watching the time I guess. Anyway...doesn't look like anyone's here tonight...Which kind of makes me sad but maybe I'll still have time to write my rad post that I was going to last night...

BIC: Xardius paused. "You hear that?"

The dark woman nodded. "The UPA have sounded an alarm."

"Why?" Xardius asked, not really expecting an answer, turning back to towards the camp. From his vantage point on top of the mountain, he could see the UPA's camp, several tents collapsed and another one on fire.

The dark woman hissed between her teeth. "I have a bad feeling. We should leave."

"...............Maybe they need help..." Xardius said.

"They're chasing you," the woman said, shaking her head. "Helping them won't get you anywhere. In fact, it may get you caught."

"Did you forget who you're talking to?" Xardius asked, raising an eyebrow. "Besides, I'm interested..."

"Listen to me," the woman said, sounding worried. "Something is down there that shouldn't ever have come into being. Something worse than any nightmare. You go down here and there's no guarantee you'll survive."

Xardius looked at her. "You're saying, for the first time, the odds are against me? I have something to be afraid of."

The woman hesitated a moment, then nodded.

The next instant, she involuntarily took a step back, staring wide-eyed at Xardius' grin, which nearly split his face.

So softly, oh so softly, Xardius whispered, "Finally."

    ***

Mordeth killed and killed as the UPA surrounded him. Anyone he touched, died. He'd lit the medical tent on fire, and simply began killing the medics as they rushed out with their patients, murdering them all and leaving them bleeding on the ground.

The ground was thick with the precious red liquid, and the rest of the UPA were trying to flee. Mordeth's hatred twisted the atmosphere, pinning them to the ground as the grass speared them, clawing into their screaming mouths and suffocating them. The trees reached out to tear them apart with their branches. Shots were fired, but Mordeth didn't feel the bullets as they ripped into him.

He was invincible. He was death.

Laughing, he walked forward to confront the rest of the camp, who were taking up positions along the open field. If he hurried, he could kill them all before...

Mordeth's steps faltered as if he were running through thick jelly. Sweat formed on his forehead, beaded down his neck and dripped from his nose, traveling upwards on his cheeks. Slowly, he turned, with great difficulty.

To face the true monster behind him.

    ***

Cotaxus was on en route to location when he got the call though he could hardly make out what the soldier was saying.

"What...slow down man, what is going on!?" Cotaxus finally yelled.

"We were attacked suddenly, by a madman!" the soldier screamed. "He killed all the wounded men, and the medic team... Everyone over there... He killed them all!"

"Who killed them? Pull yourself together!" Cotaxus snapped.

"I don't know," the soldier whimpered. "It was like...watching death itself...Wait...That Lionheart fellow just arrived..."

Cotaxus hesitated. "What is he doing?"

"He's drawing his sword...he's fighting the man who attacked us!" the soldier sounded astonished.

Cotaxus leaned back in his chair, and thought. From what he knew of Xardius Lionheart, he had never lost in single combat. He didn't know who had attacked his troops but he already counted the man as dead. Lionheart, on the other hand...

"Listen closely, soldier," Cotaxus said. "This is what you will do."

    ***

Xardius and Mordeth were a blur of motion, Mordeth barely dodging Xardius' blows and Xardius growing more and more frustrated as time wore by. He couldn't figure out why he couldn't hit the blood-covered snakelike man, but it peeved him.

"If you're supposed to inspire fear in me," Xardius grumbled. "You're doing it the wrong way."

"Oh, am I supposed to do something," Mordeth sneered. "Like this?"

Mordeth paused and Xardius' sword ripped down his chest, cutting through tissue and bone and splitting Mordeth from shoulder to waist.

    "Wha-?" Xardius asked. "Why?"

    Mordeth shrugged. "I can't feel it. I can't die."

    "Another immortal," Xardius smiled. "Perfect."

"You misunderstand," Mordeth said. "I am death itself."

Xardius didn't have time to react before Mordeth's steeled fingers drove themselves into his midriff. Blood trickled from his mouth as he coughed. In the next instant, Mordeth's death poison from his touch had spread throughout Xardius' body and Xardius stiffened, slumping down, only supported by Mordeth's hand.

"Pity you didn't last longer," Mordeth whispered. "But you'll soon be dead..."

    ***

"Well, that was interesting," Xardius said to the dark woman while inside his mind, watching the darkness close around him.

"I told you to be afraid," the woman sobbed. "Now we're..."

"Hmph, have you forgotten who you're talking to?" Xardius asked, grinning as the darkness filled everything...

    ***

    Boom.

Mordeth's eyes popped wide. He had time for one desperate thought. What?

Then Xardius' left hand was around his wrist and Mordeth screamed in pain as his bones shattered from that grip. At the same instant, Xardius' sword in his right hand reversed and shredded ground as it flashed towards his face. At the same instant, Xardius looked up at Mordeth and smiled.

Mordeth snapped himself upward, yanking his hand from Xardius' gut and out of that grip, smashing his leg into Xardius' neck and twisting away from that sword...that sword could kill him!

Mordeth didn't understand what had just happened. But suddenly he was afraid. He finished the twist to find the sword point burrowing for his face as Xardius reversed the blow once again, and he kicked off of the large man's body, landing in a heap in the grass.

He twisted to the side as Xardius' sword drove a furrow in the ground where his head had been, dodged as Xardius sliced the air under his chin, and screamed as Xardius next swing took him through the middle.

Gasping in pain, and spitting blood, Mordeth wrenched himself off the blade. Xardius closed the distance, raising his sword. Mordeth cried out and let the blackness swallow him, sinking away as Xardius' sword flashed down after him.

    ***
Xardius felt his sword make contact and Mordeth jerk, then the portal was gone and his sword was embedded in earth.

"Well, that was interesting," Xardius said, wheezing at the wound in his stomach.

"OPEN FIRE!" he heard, and he turned in time to see every UPA agent raise their gun and fire on him.

He had time to get one good glare before 300 bullets took him in various locations, dropping him to the ground, bleeding and broken.

    ***

"He's dead, sir," the soldier said. "And the other is gone."

Cotaxus smiled. "I expect his head when I get there."

    "Yes sir," the soldier said.

OOC: *whew* What a monster post. Hope you don't mind I used your characters a little Nulix...

EDIT OOC: Rereading it: it's kind of confusing, but I'll clarify the confusing parts later, in some other post. Like what happened when Mordeth stabbed Xardius...and why Xardius could suddenly hurt him...

OOC: You spelled very wrong, so I can't even believe you.

BIC: "Sure, what?" Tera Roth asked, settling back in the chair as he watched the time click down to arrival in Twilight Town.

    ***

Mordeth's next victim was a little more savory. The woman managed a strangled cry before his fingers crushed her windpipe and ripped her throat out. It took her several minutes to die and Mordeth loved every minute of it. Licking the blood from his fingers, watching the woman die, he waited for the ones who had heard her scream to arrive.

    So he could kill more...

OOC: Well, since you're not going to be serious......

BIC: Mordeth was hunting. He was hungry. Satisfaction could only be guaranteed through the death of a human. The small deaths of animals were nothing compared to the savory delight of having a human die by his hand.

He could almost taste their wounds, and the death was still in the air here. A battle had been fought, but only a few deaths...

"You should have killed them all," Mordeth said, licking his lips with a long tongue slowly. "But that would have left none for me to devour..."

He followed the trail of blood and pain left by the UPA agents to the makeshift camp they'd made. Without hesitation, he strode in, grabbing the guard by the face and sucking the life from him with iron fingers.

"Delicious," Mordeth smiled, throwing the lifeless body to the ground. "Who's next?"

OOC: Isn't Vecked with Wing and Tera Roth?

BIC: Xardius sighed as rain splashed down on him, washing the blood and dirt off his face. The UPA's agents had sent an entire contingent after him, but...

He shifted on the mound of bodies that he sat on, and smiled. The rain slid down his sword's blade, letting the blood run off it to fall on the ground.

"It's funny," Xardius said to the rain. "They don't understand what they are. They don't understand what I am."

The dark woman stared up at him as lightning flashed. "Darius?" she asked, worried.

Xardius looked down. "I'm not insane. Not yet."

He shivered as he looked around him. "I don't really remember doing this. Maybe it's for the best."

He hopped off the bodies. "Let's go. I don't want to be around when they come to bury the bodies. I'll only have to ruin more families."

Silently, the woman followed, but the silence seemed to say more than anything else.

    ***

Tera Roth started up the gummi. "Hobey-ho, let's go!"
