Al exhaled slowly, and sat up. He looked around to make sure the zombie he'd been hiding from was really gone, then pulled himself out from the tree roots he'd been hiding in. He took a second to look up the trunk. How many times had these trees saved his life? He started walking back towards Neostice; He'd been in that hiding place for awhile and now the sun was going down. As a result he probably wasn't going to make it back before dark. Not good. Part of his personal philosophy was to always be inside the city when the sun went down, but he'd gotten careless and broken his own rule. He looked around nervously as he walked, he didn't know how the Scares reacted to darkness, but he didn't like that it was going to be harder for him tell if they were nearby. After a little while he made it to one of the taller trees in the forest and started climbing up. Safer to travel by air he figured, and since he was losing his ability to see as time went on he needed to take every precaution he could. Once he reached the top of the tree he stood up and prepared to jump. He could glide to the edge of the forest from here, but from there he'd still be at least an hour's walk away from the walls. He sighed and jumped out of the tree, no way he was getting back before dark...
