I'll be sure to join one of these whenever the damn thing is available to people in Australia. Can't believe they made ANOTHER kh game unavailable to us while you guys have it.
"I won't need to be" Drake said with a sly grin on his face. Maybe he was in over his head, especially since Amber was certainly more experienced with hunting, but he wasn't about to let her know that. He was pretty sure both of them knew it anyway, but what was the point of going out for a little fun like that if both of them were certain he would lose? Without another word, he was off. He only had a couple of hours, and without his 3DMG he needed every advantage he could get. He found her reasonably easy after those couple of hours, carrying his haul behind him. He had a couple of boars and a deer. For just two hours, that haul was impressive indeed and for once he was sure he was going to win the hunt. However, when he caught up with his wife his catch was dropped to the ground as his focus slipped from his own haul and more to the one that Amber had. She had the bear, a few of the birds, and a boar. The birds and boar alone stood no chance of beating his own catch, but the bear. "How?" was all he asked, gazing in bewilderment. If he hadn't known it before, it would've been painfully obvious to him now; he had married the most extraordinary woman in Kaynta without a doubt. Picking up his hunt and walking over to Amber, he shook his head. "I've got no idea how you do it. You seem to get more and more beautiful and surprising each and every day" he said simply. It wasn't unusual for him to compliment his wife, in fact he probably did it a little too much. He couldn't help it, he was a hopeless romantic. On some level he suspected it bothered her sometimes, but he hoped he was wrong. "That's the two hours though. I guess we should head back to our responsibilities...and my lecture" he stated, shuddering a little at the thought of his lecture. He then walked back with Flame to Kaynta, returning to the life he both loved and loathed equally.
Three days...he'd been given three days to catch the escapees. Given it wasn't even his system that had screwed up, it seemed a little harsh. Then again, he hadn't really done anything to even attempt to stop them fleeing, so he figured it evened out. He hadn't quite arrived at the meeting place, but he wasn't far away. Just one more corner until he was there though, so the time to hunt was close. He couldn't remember what it was like before he'd been a hunter of Spyrix users, could barely even remember how he started out with that. He tried not to think about it too much, and yet he couldn't help but wonder..had it begun much as it was now? With him assigned capture duty with some fugitives? Probably. Rounding the corner once more, he was relieved to see the usual group of people awaiting their leader's return. There were five members of The Scouts, but only four were there. One was missing, as usual. "Damnit Shane..." he sighed. All he could do was wait. There was a reason Shane was late. Whether it was a good one or not depended on your perspective. To Shane it was a very good reason, to the other members of The Scouts...probably not. Seriously though, how was he supposed to go on their usual patrols without the usual coffee to accompany it? He liked coffee, a little too much really. When you were a telepath that could peer into the minds of others, keeping yourself mentally focused and wide awake was essential. There had been a time where he would try to find a memory of someone nearby to jolt him awake, but one time he'd looked into the mind of a transvestite and....well, what he had seen that day had scarred him forever. Anyway, that was in the past. A past he tended to try to avoid thinking about, but always ended up falling into that particular train of thought anyway. It was painful, and he wasn't ready to face it. To tell you the truth, he wasn't sure that he'd ever be ready to face it. The fun thing about being a telepath was that really if anyone tried to make him face it, he could persuade them to drop it. Arguing with him rarely went the way he didn't want them to go. It was one of few things he liked about his past; the fact that he had been given the powers. While at times they felt like a curse, in fact many times they did, today they felt like a gift. A rare gem in the mine of filth known as humanity. Approaching Drake and the other Scouts, he gave a small wave. "Sorry, had to stop for coffee" he apologized, though he knew it wouldn't get him out of the lecture he'd receive.
"Oh this will be a quick hunt. You might have been better than me before, but I've had a lot of practice" Drake stated coyly as he led Flame towards a relatively familiar spot of thick brush. He knew the area remarkably well, but as far as he was aware Amber wasn't quite as familiar. This was the main part of the forest he had hunted and killed a multitude of animals, trading their skins in for the currency used in Kaynta. Given his inexperience at the time, it hadn't been a quick or an easy process, but there hadn't been a single moment where Drake had doubted himself. If there was one thing he was determined to get done, it was that. Without the finances, he wouldn't have been able to ask Amber to marry him and give her the kind of ring she deserved. Not a regular one, nothing plain, but something as extravagantly beautiful as he himself saw her. After quite a few weeks of near non-stop hunting, he'd returned to her, and the moment he brought out the ring the look on her face made it very much a worthwhile effort. There were plenty of trees in the area to intefere with any attempts at ranged hunting, but if the person using the ranged combat was a good enough shot it shouldn't matter too much. Aside from that there were plenty of dips in the ground and various obstacles. It was a difficult place to hunt, to be sure, but the game there ensured it was rarely a waste. On that particular day there weren't too many creatures in the area, but there were multiple boars, deer, several large birds and a single bear around. Turning to look at his wife, he held out a hand while he readied his own weapon. "Let's make this interesting. Whoever has the least impressive hunt in, say....two hours? Has to listen to one of Akari's lectures on the next invention. Ready whenever you are" he said, holding a hand forward as a gesture for Amber to pass him and begin slightly before him.
I don't have time to post in both of the other 2 roleplays. I'll make one in AoT now but WoE will have to wait until Sunday when I will have more...
Sorry if I screwed up the strategy Rienzel but I can't actually see it... GLEN USED THE ALMIGHTY DOLPHIN BLOW
Drake froze up as Doctor Sorrow mentioned experimenting on his daughter. What kind of man was this guy? He would subject his daughter to such a cruel fate? He was about to question it further, to actually try to find out more of the details he hadn't explained, when the alarms went off. His first instinct was to run after them and attempt to place them once more in captivity, but upon thinking about it a little more he realised how much of a bad idea that would be. One person against multiple spyrix users, no matter how well trained they may be, stood precious little chance. However, that was exactly what Sorrow was asking him to do. Immediately he turned around and shot an irritated look at the man. "How do you expect me to contain them? Run at them and ask them politely to stop? They've got powers, I've got a spear, I don't like the sounds of that. I've got a better idea. I may have mentioned it to you already, but I've got a team of people that specialise in hunting Spyrix users down, more often than not bringing them back into captivity. I'll go get them and then go after those fugitives. I don't plan on dying today, so that's your only option" Drake stated, before racing towards the exit. He was closer than the escapees were, and he knew the layout of the place reasonably well so he made it to the exit quickly and turned to his left. Breaking into a sprint, he began closing the distance quickly between where he had been and where he knew The Scouts would be situated at that time.
Internet outage, can only access on phone until wednesday for maybe 5 minutes at a time because it is a piece of crap :(
I couldn't put it down once I started, had me hooked from the beginning. Bloody good book, my only regret is I bought it roughly a week after it...
I'm not quite sure if you've heard of it or not, but since you're one of the few people I know that is into The Mortal Instruments...
Standing in front of Doctor Rolland Sorrow's laboratory, Drake once again found himself questioning whether this was a good decision. He hadn't met the Doctor personally more than a few times, but regardless of his personality Drake wasn't entirely supportive of his activities. In a number of ways what Sorrow did was wrong. Mistreating people, putting them in dangerous situations, and tormenting them beyond their physical - and mental - limits was something that Drake was very much against, something he could never forgive. But these people weren't exactly human, either. They were mutans and those with powers. Spyrix users, they were called. The mutants stood out from everyone else and made it remarkably easy to overlook their humanity at times, but the Spyrix users...they generally looked like everyone else. You could be best friends with someone for your whole life without ever catching onto the fact they had abilities, if they were careful. Drake had been, once, and that had cost him his family. He had trusted a spyrix user and a mutant, one of each, and while for quite a few years it was extremely beneficial to the soldier, one fateful day had been the day his wife had died, and his trust of spyrix users with her. But that was the past, and this was the present. This wasn't just about revenge, not anymore. This was about preventing others from suffering as he had. Looking at the keycard he held in his hand, he swiped it through the scanner and as expected the door opened. He made his way in and after a couple of minutes of searching he found Doctor Sorrow. He hopped up and sat on a desk, a little too casually, and gave a very short wave. "Have you had any breakthroughs since I was here last?" he asked. OOC: Will edit in Shane's post at some point in the next 24 hours. Just giving Gabi something to react to if she so desires.
Once Drake was free to stand up he did so. He hadn't really said anything, merely smiled and kissed his wife back and then listened to her speak. He did this a lot, and he often wondered how and why she put up with it. Most people would've been driven insane by it. Maybe it was because she knew that even without speaking he was not judging her and only supporting her. There was a connection between the two, a bond stronger than likely all the steel in Kaynta combined, and he was thankful for it each and every day. Picking up his sword, he followed behind Flame and made his way over towards the treetops, catching up to her rather quickly. Once he caught up to her he walked alongside her, finally deciding to speak up. "You know, I bet things can manage themselves for a couple more hours. Everyone's more than capable of running the place themselves right now, and you could use a bit of time away from things. Feel up for a little light hunting?" Pseudo King himself suggested.
Damn those banners are really nice, but I'm going to go with Bravely Second. Been waiting for that game for a loooong time, and after playing it due to the earlier release in April I can confirm it's pretty fecking awesome.
Drake fell onto the ground with a light thud, but was quickly on his feet. Not as quickly as he would've once been, mind you, but not far behind at all. Once he was on his feet, he noticed his Queen was circling him, an all-too-familiar look in her eyes. This was the kind of look that appeared in her face when he asked her to cook only to find it with too much spice in the meal, the look that surfaced when he was told he had to do a job he would find particularly annoying...the look that Amber always had on her face moments before she had him right where she wanted him. But this time he had an advantage. This time he had seen through her tactics. He'd countered her attack, he could do so again. She was going to circle him and probably try to tackle him again. Or maybe that's what she wanted him to think. Or maybe she wanted him to doubt her and try to prevent a different attack. Or maybe she wanted him to counter his own prediction and go with the origin- what was he doing? He knew better than to try and figure out exactly how the mind of his wife worked. Shrugging off the thought, he took a deep breath and charged forward, only to get floored by the mass of a leopard bowling him over and pinning him to the ground. Knowing he'd lost, Drake simply allowed himself the very slightest of smirks. It had been fun, and reminded him very much of their little competitions they had once had every couple of days or so. "And what is to be the price for losing, your majesty?" he asked, deliberately stressing out the last two words before laughing ever so slightly.
Well, when Gexln had gone to look for ways to restore the light within his world he certainly hadn't expected to find someone who was literally glowing. It wasn't a powerful glow, it was as though the light was fading gradually within the draconic thing's soul, but well when you had a body that was glowing with light at all it was sort of hard to miss. Holding his blade close, Gexln gradually stepped towards the creature. "The hell are you?" he asked, courteous as ever. As he was walking forwards, his foot hit a scythe on the ground. Glancing down, he immediately recognised the scythe of the madman, Dane Erapper, discarded on the ground when he had completely lost control. This was all it took to remind the Nobody immediately of what could happen if he didn't act quickly. His homeworld wasn't just at stake, but Kara's very life was, too, and that was the more concerning matter. He hadn't found anything in the Dark Void, though he suspected there was more to the world than he knew at that time. Whether it had more secrets to reveal or not, though, was something he would have to learn at a later date. For the moment, all he had to do was stop the spreading darkness, and what better way to do that than to put a glowing beacon of light before it? He didn't know the creature though, and simply placing him in front of Kara could create all kinds of problems. Baby steps were key. Now was not the time though. He could try to force the creature to come with him, but getting close to that much light made Gexln feel sick, and so he simply opened a dark corridor to the side of himself. "Doesn't matter who you are. I've got more important things to deal with, like saving my homeworld. You look like the kinda guy who is all about justice, salvation and all that kinda crap, so if you know anything about saving worlds then speak up now" Gexln stated. He normally wouldn't address someone in such a way, hell he'd generally just ignore them altogether, but times were desperate and so too was he.
That's far, far too many given it's not coming out for the next 20 years.
