Dana frowned as she saw the inscription. "Well we definitely found our first Kishin. Only a being of pure evil could put teenagers against advanced mathematics" the girl said, not caring whether or not it was actually advanced mathematics. She read the inscription aloud, and then stood still for a moment. "Well, I got nothin', how about you?" she asked.
At the mention of the lack of being a close combat weapon, Chaol instinctively looked down and couldn't help but notice the blades on the side. He waited for Hannah to finish speaking, before nodding and then touching the blades with the tips of his fingers. "I agree, but I think you'd be more helpful close range than you think with blades like this. I could make these work, I think. Before we get right into the practice, would you mind if we went to the mission board so I can take a look at them myself? I still stand by what I said about you picking the mission, but if I can see it for myself there might be something more I can do to prepare for it" he suggested somewhat eagerly. "Why didn't I do it sooner? Well, just because I could turn into a weapon as a baby didn't mean I had control over it. Not completely anyway, I mean I could hold it for about five minutes but that was it. My parents wanted to enrol me in classes, but I told them I wouldn't do it. Took way too much effort, I just let myself get there naturally and then decided screw it why not go to school? A girl's got to get her shrine somehow" Dana said, half joking as they walked. Getting towards the top of the stairs, she came to a brief stop as a realisation set in. "Hey, Zoey, Lord Death said we needed to break the seal to get in, but do you actually know how to do that? Because I sure as hell don't" she asked, a puzzled look on her face. This could be a serious problem.
Well, then I guess count me out of it
I won't be able to actually record until early Saturday morning for me. Is there a chance it can be done on Sunday for you guys, rather than on Saturday? I really want to take part in this.
With each step, Chaol found himself relaxing more and more. He hadn't realised how tense he'd been, but now that he had someone actually instructing him through each step, he found that he could relax a little. He did as he was asked, following the instructions near perfectly, and looked straight down the arrow. Focusing, he released the breath he'd been holding, followed closely by the arrow. He couldn't shake the feeling of excitement as the arrow flew straight towards the target, although it vanished quickly as the arrow sunk into the red part of the target, slightly to the left in fact, with a light thud. He growled a little bit, and slowly lowered the bow, simply staring at the target. "Not bad for my first shot, but I think...I can do better" he grumbled. Raising the bow again and knocking another arrow, he took aim and once again looked straight down the arrow. However, rather than overthinking it and taking a lot of time, he allowed his natural instincts to guide him and he released the arrow. This one, too, flew straight towards the target, but unlike the other one it hit the gold ring, just slightly to the left of the point he'd been aiming for. Lowering the bow once more, he took a step back and felt a surge of adrenaline go through him. He felt as though he could have shot the rest of the quiver, gathered the arrows, and then spent the rest of the day simply honing his new skill, but that wouldn't get him anywhere. "There we go, much better thanks to you. Have you taught before? I can't wait to give this a try on an actual mission, not to mention getting our first kishin soul. I'll let solely you choose the mission as a way of making us even for you teaching me how to actually somewhat shoot, shall I lead the way?" he queried.
"Well, it was about a month before I found out how cool I am, but I think to understand..." Dana stated as she turned into her human form for the story, her face losing it's cheery glow and taking on a sombre look of almost, could it be...disappointment? "we have to start from the beginning" she said, forcing a tear to go down her cheek and turning away, allowing her hair to blow in the wind as though she were from one of the many anime shows she had watched in her lifetime. "It all began a little under sixteen years ago. In the village I grew up in, the town of Intonahe, which was located on the very summit of mount doom and almost always set on fire by a pyromaniac magician called Steve. Steve was my father, and he found that although his fire brought much joy to him he always wished he could experience it with someone else. And so, he romanced the crap out of my mother, whose name was Arianna, and they...well, they did...things...and then a star was born. That star was named Dana Audrey Juliet Knightfall, and she would grow to be the most beautiful girl in all of America" Dana explained, her eyes lighting up slightly with childlike glee as she spoke. "Upon seeing the sheer radiance of their child's appearance, Steve finally gave into Arianna's wishes and gave up on setting things on fire all the time, although due to his fire being of a magical nature it never went out, so there was always something to remind him of old times. And so, young Dana would grow up never understanding the look of joy in her father's eyes whenever he lit a cigarette. Until one dark, terrible day when his habits got to him and at last he unleashed all his want to the power of fire at once, burning absolutely everything including their home to the ground" the weapon stated. "Up, up, uuuuuuuup went the flames as they burned every itty bitty thing to the ground, and down, down, doooooown went the mood of everyone within. Except for Dana. She knew she could stop it, she would stop it, and forming a circle with the few people she knew as friends she used the power of friendship and made a wish. She wished she had the power to do anything to save not only the town, but all of America. And her wish was granted through sheer coincidence, and she did save everything. With a quick 'wahoo' she surpassed god and turned into a magical weapon, before spinning so fast the magical fire was put out. And that's how I learned I was a weapon" Dana beamed proudly. She gave the girl a moment for the magnificence to sink in, before continuing. "I'm just kidding, according to my parents I actually turned into a weapon as a baby. Just randomly, no reason at all. They were terrified, thought they'd lost me until they heard a baby giggling at their expense. But hey, the other way sounds more dramatic" she said, shrugging her shoulders. Skipping past her meister, her mood clearly lifted, she poked Zoey on the shoulder as she went past. "Come on, temple's this way" she assured.
"Nah it's okay Lord Death, we've got this. I've seen plenty of movies that had mummies rising, it's practically the same thing. Besides, Zoey here is a professional quarterstaff master, she just doesn't know it yet" Dana said confidently, giving a swift pat on the back to her meister before turning and looking at the portal before her. That was surprising, she hadn't heard of Death making a portal for even Death The Kid, maybe she and Zoey were just that amazing that even death himself was head over heels in love with them. That was weird, given he was at least like, five years older than her, but it was to be expected. So into the portal of wonder she went. Coming out on the other side, she could immediately see the beauty of that side of the world. The pyramids were something awe-inspiring, but more than that she could not get over the immense heat. "This is so hot, so warm and we only just got here. Zoey I know it's hard to see me so I'm sorry to do this but here, catch me!" the girl shouted gleefully, jumping towards her partner and turning into weapon form. Walking was for energetic people, so she chose to be literally carried until she was needed otherwise. It wasn't much better being in her weapon form, and she lost her ravishing beauty, but at least she didn't burn as much energy moving around.
Chaol followed the instructions as best as he was able to, being very careful not to rush ahead. Taking one of the arrows out, he made sure to set it on the bowstring in what he thought was the correct place and way to do so. He'd run his fingers along the arrows the moment he'd been given them a few moments before and felt the little notch that was in the arrow, and had immediately assumed that was where they sat on the bowstring. "I used to watch this one guy in the Dancing Blades who was a pretty good shot with a bow. He didn't show me much, but I did catch him yelling at someone for firing without an arrow readied, so I asked him why and yeah, he explained that. He also used to stand, kind of like...." Chaol said, looking down for a moment to shift his footing so that he was standing side on to the target, "this. It'd have to be for stability, maybe it helps to aim?" he questioned. Aiming the bow at what he believed to be the right height to fire, he began pulling back the string with his dominant arm. It was surprisingly resilient and difficult to do, but he was a determined person and he fought back, gradually getting it back a decent amount before he released the arrow. The arrow sailed through the air for a distance, going in the direction Chaol had aimed in (which he was quite happy with) before it plummeted to the base of the target, sticking into the ground loosely below the target rather than hitting it. Hanging his head in defeat for a moment, Chaol took another arrow and repeated the motion, this time aiming a little higher. This time, it hit the base of the target and bounced off harmlessly. Confused, he was about to knock another arrow before he decided that he should probably ask the expert. "This is surprisingly difficult. Are all archers secretly champion weightlifters, or am I doing something wrong?" he asked, knowing which one was more likely.
This being his first time actually seeing a weapon transformation so close, Chaol was mesmerised by the process. To say it was impressive was an understatement, it was something that someone had to truly experience firsthand. Due to him being distracted by the look of it, he almost didn't react fast enough to actually catch the bow that had appeared before him. Thankfully, and once more due to his training, he caught the bow swiftly just before it hit the ground. "Sorry about being a little slow there, i've never actually seen that happen. It's got a certain beauty to it that had me captivated for a moment" the boy apologised. Holding the bow, he held it up as though he were going to fire, testing its weight. It was reasonably light, but had enough weight to it that he could feel it. Yet there wasn't enough that it was going to tire him out quickly, which was excellent. He did have an urge to just scream ryuu ga waga teki wo kurau for some reason, but he pushed that urge down and focused more on the task at hand; learning to fire a bow. "This may be a stupid question, but you don't by any chance have any arrows do you? I wouldn't want to fire and risk damaging you without them, wouldn't exactly be a good start to this relationship now would it?" he asked.
Despite having her pointed out to him the day before, Chaol hadn't quite expected Hannah to be so anxious, or at least that's the way she'd appeared to him. Then again, this was a pretty crucial time in a student of the DWMA's life, and a lot to take in, so it made sense. Not everyone was used to literal life and death situations, as he'd become almost used to. He could actually kind of understand the awkwardness now, but what could he do to fix it? Nodding, he gave another warm, friendly smile, and then simply responded with "Yeah, probably" Following Hannah outside, he was lead to an area he could only assume was designed as a shooting range of sorts. Although it didn't seem like it was for firearms, for there seemed to be only straw targets. That told him immediately that his partner was not going to be a quarterstaff or really any kind of melee weapon, which made the majority of combat training he'd had very much useless. Maybe she turned into a crossbow? Could have even been a javelin, that would be pretty cool and he'd be able to utilise his close range proficiency. Hell for all he knew, she could even be a boomerang. Oh well, at least he'd be able to learn a new style, maybe it would even work out better. "This should be interesting. I've never used a ranged weapon of any sorts before , but I should be able to pick it up quickly. Unless you turn into throwing knives or something, I'll have to learn. You'd know your weapon form better than anyone, so I don't mind being taught. Just don't judge me too harshly, okay?" he asked, half joking at the end as he said it with a slight laugh.
I'd like to do the ever so overdone "This is Halloween", though I likely won't be able to record until Wednesday (my time)
Well, it's certainly got my interest that's for sure. I think it'd be a lot of fun, and I'm trying to get right into RPing again so there's a good place to start XD
For a moment, the girl said nothing. She merely listened and gave a minute to really let the words sink in. She'd been a little insensitive, and despite that this girl still wanted to be her partner? Maybe this wouldn't be so bad after all. Giving a nod, she quickly realised how pointless the motion was and actually laughed slightly. "Not a clue. I've never done anything like this before, but there's only one way to find out. I'm not sure how well all this is going to go, and I'm pretty lazy so you'll have to put up with that, buuuuut I'll be the best weapon I can be. Have you ever actually held a weapon before?" Dana asked. She was feeling fairly comfortable with this arrangement already, but she wanted to find out just what she was going to work with. It didn't really matter if Zoey had or hadn't wielded a weapon before, she wasn't worried too much, but hey it didn't hurt to find out.
After talking with Midnight about it, Chaol and Hannah signing up for Bonnie and Clyde!
This has been happening to me for the last few days, and it's starting to slow down my responses a little. Sorry about the poor image quality, but whenever I click on edit post or outright try to post a new one (heck even right now they're messed up for me) instead of the normal images representing each of the functions, I get that. I'm not sure if it's a browser thing (I use Firefox, on a windows 10 operating system) but is there any help that can be offered? Possibly even an explanation so as to prevent this issue in future?
Chaol Arroway had thought ahead the day before the meeting. He'd only been at the DWMA for roughly 24 hours or so, but he'd wasted no time in getting as much information as he could. Knowledge was power, as taught to him from a relatively young age, and he intended on wielding that power as expertly as he would any weapon. After all, if he were going to become the #1 meister and create an absolutely awesome death scythe, he couldn't afford to be slacking. The name Hannah Swift was one of the many he'd come across the day before, but he couldn't remember actually meeting her. Well, he wouldn't be able to say that in a minute that was for sure. He found her near the front of the class, with a fairly large bag that made Chaol curious as to what was actually inside of it. He almost wanted to ask, but that probably wouldn't be the best way to start off. Nope, best way was to be short and efficient. He came to a stop just a metre away from his weapon partner, and gave a slight smile as a friendly gesture, before deciding to speak. "Hannah Swift? I'm Chaol Arroway, the meister to your weapon. It's a pleasure to meet you, I promise you won't be disappointed" the boy greeted. While he kept his composure cool, calm and collected, inside of him he only had one thought running through his mind. Great job Chaol, sounding like you're as stiff as a board, where's the fun in that? Dana shook Zoey's hand wordlessly for a moment, having mixed feelings echoing within her soul. She was a little worried by the fact her meister was blind, but mostly she was actually feeling a little guilty. She'd just assumed her meister would be someone who had the ability to see, but she had clearly assumed wrong. Wow, she must look like a total asshat. A really pretty, charming total asshat, but an asshat regardless. She wondered a great many things about Zoey, but decided to get to only the most crucial things. To begin with, anyway. "Well sh*t, I guess you really were blind. That's a shocker, but wow that's so cool that you got made a meister anyway. How did you manage the application form? Wait you probably got someone else to fill it in right? Waaaait.....does this mean I'm going to be having to study for both of us? Aw man, I hate doing hard work" the girl whined, speaking almost as casually with Zoey as she would anyone she could call a friend. Subtlety was not her strong point, and she made that fairly clear.
*banner WIP but this is Dana's post and I couldn't think of anything witty to put here in its place* Dana Knightfall blinked a couple of times, simply staring with a look of boredom on her face, as well as a slight amount of confusion. This Spirit guy was one of their teachers, but Doctor Stein seemed to be the one that would be more reliable. The way they spoke, she wasn't sure which one she wanted to have more classes with. Sure, Stein could teach her more, but just imagine all the naps she could get away with in Spirit's class, the possibilities were endless! Quickly, her attention snapped back to the situation at hand as people started attempting to meet their partners. While others, such as the brown haired kid at the front of the room, would simply call out, Dana had come up with a better solution and more importantly one that had taken significantly less energy. Since she'd arrived in the classroom, Dana had been sitting on a large piece of cardboard with the name Zoey Pryor written on it. Naturally, she'd gotten someone else to write it for her, but the effect was the same. Others might think it was her own name, but her partner would certainly see it and know that she was the weapon for them. With a huff, she stood up and held up the huge sign, and waited for about thirty seconds. Surely that would be enough. Apparently thirty seconds wasn't enough, made clear by the fact that her meister did not come to collect their weapon. What was she, blind? How did someone miss a sign of that size in the center of the room? She sighed. Stupid people and making her do more stuff. "Zoey Pryor, I don't know how the heck you missed this sign but your weapon is right here, ready and waiting" she called out. Whoever her meister was, Dana was willing to bet she hadn't seen that coming.
Weapon Character Sheet Name: Dana Knightfall Age: 15 Appearance: Here Weapon Type: Bladed Quarterstaff Personality: Extremely lazy, tends to not worry about things, very opinionated. Backstory: Dana Knightfall was raised in a loving home, with a loving family and two brothers. For as long as she could remember, it had been her family's wishes for her to attend the DWMA, just as her father had, and his father before him. It was her family's wishes, not her own. However much she opposed this, however, she did in the end accept that her application had been accepted and packed up her things. God, being the youngest daughter in her family was such a drag. Other: Discord ID: Gexln (#9415) Meister Character Sheet Name: Chaol Arroway Age: 17 Appearance: Here Personality: Optimistic, and talks a little more than the average person. He prefers to think of himself as determined, but really he's just stubborn and doesn't like to admit he was wrong. Most of the time he'll go silent when he IS wrong. Why did you become a Meister: To follow tradition, and to be the best meister that he could possibly be. Backstory: For many years, the Dancing Blades has been a powerful and secretive assassination organisation. Often, they would carry out assassinations in broad daylight, not caring who saw them due to their swift movements enabling them to escape from even the most dangerous pursuers. While many may have seen them as another band of criminals, or maybe even potential kishins themselves, the Dancing Blades had one ruling they valued above all else; "Kill only those that would harm others, and protect the innocent". Recently, however, there has been talk of a problem development within the clan, and for reasons known to very few a member of the clan was sent to the DWMA for training. His name was Chaol Arroway, and he had received very little training by the Dancing Blades before his departure for the DWMA. He promised his clan three things before he left: 1: He would become the best meister at the DWMA 2: He would return And the third was something that surprised even the leader of the Dancing Blades. Surprised, and worried them. Other: Is a member of the assassination clan "The Dancing Blades". This information wouldn't be spread throughout the whole school, but it likely wouldn't be hard to catch wind of. Discord ID: Gexln (#9415)
My favourite ones are typically survival, fandom based, really any kind of fantasy RP. Though i'm not usually too fussy, I'll be sure to give at least a look at whatever you come up with. It is a little sad to see how slow the RPA has been going (though I can't speak too loudly about keeping pace)
I've been reading along, but I'm hardly busy. Been a little stressed irl but I'm just finding no motivation to do anything whatsoever (which is causing some big issues) and so I haven't really written. Sorry about that.
