Huh? There is no PS3 version. BBS is only for the PSP.
Hey, E3's coming in July. Both SE and Disney Interactive are going to be there. I'm sure they'll announce something about the games.
I don't think so. Axel was already uberly difficult in CoM. And in KH2:FM, his data battle was really annoying. Riku's already been confirmed a boss, so yeah, he most likely is the last one.
By "DS installment", I'm sure you mean 358/2 Days. 358/2 Days and Coded are scheduled for a summer 2008 release in Japan. Although production for SE's major cellphone games have recently been put on hold; we don't know if Coded is one of the suspended titles, but it most likely is. But anyway we should get at least 358/2 Days in english before the end of 2008. BBS we're not sure of, but most likely it'll be released in Japan by the end of the year. So we might get it in english around summer 2009.
Before, I just button-mashed, curing every now and then, disregarding "unnecesary" square button moves and magic. But then KH2:FM came along and I developed a close companionship with Guard, as well as Thunder and Fire (for the Demyx data battle). I also became more defensive and used a lot of strategy. You're right, {Light}ningAmbition, BBS will definitely require more strategy and less button-mashing.
Hmm, well as a character, I pick Xigbar, because for one he's not as... boring. He also seems to have an interesting backstory. As a fighter, well I like the moon element, but Saïx's battle was a bit boring and repetitive. Xigbar as well in that area, I guess.
The Black Fungus ones. You know, the annoying little black mushroom Heartless? I chose this one specifically out of all the mushroom Heartless because it makes a cute little squeaky sound when it gets hit. The mushrooms are the most adorable. :)
There is a reason why Sora's called Sora instead of something like Bob. It's been revealed a while ago: Sora, Riku, and Kairi's names are connected to Terra, Aqua, and Ven's (the main characters of BBS): Riku (Japanese) is to "land" (english) as Terra (Latin) is to "earth" (english). Kairi is to "sea" as Aqua is to "water". Sora is to "sky" as Ven(tus) is to "wind".
A bunch of new screenshots and info came out during Jump Festa last December. I put up here what I think the controls and features of the battle system are, using all the bits of info out on it so far.
Crazy claims? Just look it up if you want to be sure. But most people here know for sure what all their elements are. I mean, they've all been confirmed over a year ago.
It's alright, Coded has not been confirmed to be one of the halted games, and they are not actually cancelling production for the mobile games. They will most likely hold production on them until 2009 or so. They are focusing more on other games in 2008 and will worry about mobile gaming later on. It's likely they are doing this so that the rest of the world can catch up as far as mobile devices are concerned. That way when they do release mobile games, they reach a larger audience. Anyway, this might make production for BBS and 358/2 Days a lot quicker, meaning we could get them sooner than expected. :)
Alright, there's been some disappointing news from SE regarding mobile networking games. Here's the report segment on mobile gaming: In March 2008, Square Enix President Yoichi Wada held a press conference discussing the development of Dragon Quest IX starting this year. In his presentation, President Wada brings up the subject of mobile networking games, claiming that production has been suspended on major titles. About the suspension, he explains that, "Development of the titles has experienced over 3 billion in loss of appraisal. A review of the development system was performed and determined that the timing is unsuitable for the mobile department to be working on the networking games being developed for major titles, therefore production has stopped." The names of the games effected by the production halt were not specified and are not clear at this time. But since President Wada mentions "major titles", its assumed he was talking about the major mobile games currently being developed, Final Fantasy XIII Agito and Kingdom Hearts coded. Got this from KHInsider. Looks bad for KH; Coded was supposed to fill in a lot of plot holes plus foreshadow a bit of KH3.
I believe he stated it in Another Report. When you kill someone's Heartless first, then the Nobody, the heart can return to the body and the person becomes whole again. So Nomura hinted that this was the case with Axel. And it's not only Axel, remember that Riku finally got rid of Xehanort's Heartless just before he and Sora defeated Xemnas...
Alright, this is what I think the controls will be, using all the information we have so far. Just a quick recap of the main battle system: Here's a typical battle in BBS: Now then, the way it works is you attack with circle (this is only in the Japanese version; you attack with X in the english version). You see the three commands above attack? That's what I'll call the "Command Deck". Pressing triangle activates the selected attack, then the next move will take its place. The attack you have just used charges (as seen with the orange bit). A bit like CoM, eh? I believe you can mix and match attacks by both attacking and using moves from the Command Deck to form combos. Maybe you can press the up and down directional buttons to switch between moves. Now what I'm thinking is that three moves is too little, so I think that as you level up, you gain more "Command Bars". Three Bars make up one Command Deck. To scroll through Decks, you press select. I also believe that you have a "Medical Deck" where you can assign Cure, potions, ethers, etc. to any of the three Bars in that Deck. You will only have ONE Medical Deck, and it will ALWAYS be the last Deck. So at the beginning of the game (when you still have only one Command Deck) and you need to heal, you can simply press select to go to the Medical Deck and use Cure or a potion. But as you gain more Bars and create more Decks, it's going to become more difficult to get to the Medical Deck because you'll need to scroll through like six Decks to get to it, and that'll be pretty frustrating. So this is what I think, to jump straight to the last Deck (aka. Medical Deck), you simply press the right directional button, and to jump to the first Deck, press the left directional button. Sound good? Alright, let's get to what I think the controls are: Analog Nub - Move character L Button - Rotate camera left R Button - Rotate camera right L or R twice - Reset camera L+R - Lock on Up D-Button - Go up a Bar on the Command Deck Down D-Button - Go down a Bar on the Command Deck Right D-Button - Jump to last Deck (aka. Medical Deck) Left D-Button - Jump to first Deck X Button - Attack Circle Button - Jump (press twice to air dodge) Square Button - Guard (press while moving to do dodge move) Triangle Button - Use selected command/Reaction Command Start - Pause game Select - Scroll through Command Decks
Seen 'em all. They came out after Jump Festa which was in December last year.
I personally like the "Terra=Xehanort" theory, and there is a lot of proof. A few of yours have some flaws: I don't think he actually switched sides. Ansem said that Xehanort lost all his memories except for the name "Xehanort". His motive for the experiments might have come from Master Xehanort; yes, this is another theory - Master Xehanort himself might have been a scientist who had plans similar to Xehanort in KH2. If something happened that fused him and Terra together, we could say that what was created was MX with Terra's physical features (except for the silver hair). Something close to that. Remember, Xemnas only remembered anger and hate, and Terra says many times that his hatred for Xehanort filled him. So when Terra loses his memories, he might have still remembered that anger, but for some reason, only his Nobody was able to display it. Well, how about Roxas? I think the case here is either when Terra and MX "fused", he lost his ability to wield the Keyblade, or as MX says, "Those who submit to the darkness are not qualified to wield the Keyblade," so that could explain this. Nomura has confirmed that the battle with Terra is non-canon, that is, it has nothing to do with the story. Nomura never actually wanted to put that fight in, but a developer insisted. Anyway, that Terra is called "The Lingering Spirit", so that might not even be Terra in the flesh. Here's my theory for it: Fresh "New Enemy" Theory
Actually, Sora and Ansem just hate Nobodies (Ansem because of Xehanort and Sora because... he's Sora). Mickey, and Riku couldn't have cared less about killing them until Xemnas went too far. Anyway, is everyone forgetting CoM? Larxene would've killed Sora if it weren't for Donald and Goofy. And like Repliku said, Sora would need to think on his own. And we've seen what happens when Sora does that - he gets carried away and can end up going the wrong way or getting himself killed (CoM has the best example). Mickey managed to survive because he really stayed in the shadows. He didn't show himself at all unless needed. Plus, like VAT, he was fully trained to survive on his own. Look what happened to the other people who decided to journey on their own: 1.) Riku, who spent most of his time alone in KH1 had his heart swallowed by the darkness. He was lucky Mickey was there to help him get rid of it. He kept himself busy with DiZ and Naminé, following DiZ's orders. 2.) Naminé got herself captured when she escaped the 13th floor on her own. She stayed with Ansem and Riku for a while, then went with Axel. 3.) Ansem barely managed to retain his sanity in the realm of nothingness by writing his Reports. With Riku and Mickey, no harm came to him. He went off on his own again in TWTNW and would've gotten killed by Nobodies if it weren't for Mickey. 5.) Roxas didn't even get off TWTNW; he was chased by Nobodies, Neoshadows, and got strangled by Riku. 4.) Axel just had to do stuff on his own for whatever reason. And look, he was beaten up at least thrice and became so weak in the end. He could've chosen to keep his life with Sora by his side, but he decided to sacrifice himself. I'm sure you get it now. (P.S. 400th post!)
Well, my favorite of all time would be Rage Awakened. In each game: KH1 - The Deep End CoM - Lord of the Castle (Re:CoM only) KH2 - The 13th Dilemma Others: -Blast Away! -Gummi Ship I, II, and III- -Forze Del Male -Sacred Moon -Disappeared -The 13th Reflection -The Other Promise -Fate of the Unknown -The Destati tracks
Actually, the reason why Twilight Town was a part of Sora's memory in CoM was because Roxas was born there recently. So since half of Sora knew Twilight Town, Sora himself had a feeling that he'd seen that town before (that's why Sora said that the town looked familiar; Sora himself never actually had memories of that town, but his Nobody being there before made Sora feel a familiarity with the place). Get it?
Like AntiWeapon said, you're a bit mixed up there. I'll break it up for you: There is a real Twilight Town, real just like all the other worlds. A quiet burg nestled between night and day (hence "Twilight"). Real people with real hearts live there. Ansem, after leaving the realm of nothingness (which Xehanort banished him to), went to Twilight Town to continue his planning in secret. He situated himself in the basement of the abandoned mansion. After CoM, he brought Riku and Naminé there along with the sleeping Sora, Donald, and Goofy so Naminé can safely repair their memories. The Twilight Town Roxas was in was the fake one - a data version created to hide Roxas while Naminé repaired Sora's memories. It is a "world duplicate" placed into Sora's memories by DiZ (aka Ansem the Wise). The reason Sora's memories were slow to return is because the half of him which is Roxas was still lacking. So Ansem told Riku to bring back Roxas. Ansem made Roxas forget his past and placed him in this virtual Twilight Town to live out his days and regain Sora's memories. After that, he made Roxas fuse back with Sora.
