I agree with this. I think the console length times have increased, but if Nintendo are doing this then it won't have increased far enough since it still feels like I only got my PS3 the other day to me even though I've had it for a few years.

Moved to music, since this is more about the music than the game.

Gameplay has definitely improved, but memorability hasn't. I remember the first two generations off by heart yet I can't remember a damn thing about the 4th (other than Luxray's are cool). I think that the games themselves are better in terms of gameplay and having much more to do, but the personality of the game has gone downhill. If that makes sense.
