"No....don't you see...you saved me. A wolf doomed to roam alone is the worst fate. You saved me from that. And by the way...you missed."

He took her chin in his hand and tilted it up. He moved in and gently kissed her on the lips.

yay, okay, so here is the next chapter and I have decided to keep writing this story. so here we go.

    ----------------------------------------------------------------
    Chapter 3
    ----------------------------------------------------------------
    “I don’t know, Riku,†I said anxiously.

The boat that Riku stood in didn’t look too stable.

“Plus, I don’t know how to swim. What if the boat flips?†I asked nervously.

Riku held out his hand for me, smiling encouragingly.

“If it flips then I guess I get to save you,†he replied, still smiling.

With a sigh, I took his hand and stepped into the boat. I was very unsteady and fell into him. He wrapped his arms around me and it took all of his grace and balance not to dump us both into the ocean.

    “It’s ok, I’ve got you,†he said.

I pushed against him, sitting up.

    “Sorry,†I said breathlessly.

My eyes went wide when I realized how close we had come to going overboard and into the ocean.

    “Are you ok?†Riku asked, worried.

I nodded, shaking off the feeling. Riku looked at me hard, for a moment but shrugged and grabbed the oar.

“Here we go,†he said, tugging at the oars.

Immediately we began to move forward. It was slow but steady and soon we reached the smaller island, Destiny Island. Riku threw a rope, attached to our boat, and hooked a post on the dock. He stepped out and I followed a little more graceful this time. We barely got down the stairs when I heard them.

    “Stop!!!â€

I heard them before I saw them. Suddenly there were kids all around us. The only thing I could think of was that they had dropped from above, maybe from the trees. I didn’t have much time to worry about it though. They put something against our necks which, from its coarseness, I guessed it to be wooden. Riku rolled his eyes and turned to the tallest boy.

“Wakka, it’s me. Stop this,†he said, clearly annoyed.

“Let Riku go, but what to do with this one…I wonder?â€

The orange haired boy, whom Riku had called Wakka, turned to me. Riku stepped up beside him.

“She wants to join,†he said calmly.

I was glad that he seemed to know what was going on because I sure didn’t.

“So be it then,†said Wakka,†She will have to pass three tests then, but I warn you now; no girl has ever passed. We let the island girls come on because we know them, and we don’t know you.â€

I glared at Wakka and rolled my eyes.

    “Bring….it….on,†I said, stressing each word.

    Wakka laughed.

“You have to beat me in a race. The first one to the other side of the island and back wins.â€

At his signal, Riku began to count.

    “Three………â€

At this the people holding me released their grip and I fell forward into a crouch.

    “Two……..â€

At this Wakka shot forward but I waited. I was gonna win this fairly.

    “One!!!â€

My feet dug into the sand as I propelled myself forward. I closed the gap between us by the time we had reached the other end of the island. I touched the wooden door lightly and switched my weight, heading back in the other direction. Wakka had slammed into the door and turned, taking longer to start back the other way. Now I was about two feet ahead of him, gaining slowly. With a final burst, I shot past the finish line and came to stop. I had my hands on my knees, regaining my breath, when Wakka came storming back, huffing hard.

    “Pass,†was all he got out.

The boy who had been holding me turned to face me now, drawing his wooden sword.

    “Test two,†he sad grinning.

Riku tossed me a sword and I weighed it in my hand before giving it back and getting into a crouch. The boy nodded and shot towards me, sword held out to the side with one hand. I waited loosely, knees bent and my hands down by my sides, feet apart abut shoulder width. He reached me and swung his blade, from left to right. I ducked and reached up, poking his chest.

    “Dead,†I said softly.

This seemed to make him angry and he leapt back a little before taking a stab at me. I moved a little to the left and put my hand out. I guided the sword, using it’s own strength, over to the left, taking the boy with it. Just as he passed me, I balled my hand up in a fist and sent it into his stomach. He breathed out hard and fell to the ground, gasping and gaping like a fish. I held out my hand and he grasped it. I pulled him up to his feet.

“She got you didn’t she, Tidus?†Riku said, chuckling.

    Tidus grinned and nodded.

    “You pass.â€

There was a pause and then Riku stepped forward.

    “Follow,†he said solemnly.

I took the hint and followed, slowly and somberly. He took me to a cliff on the side of the island. We had to climb it, but there were many handholds so it wasn’t very difficult. Once we got to the top, Riku took me to the edge. He pointed out over the cliff.

    “Third test.â€

My heart did a flip as I peered over the side to the rocky bottom.

“When you hit the water you may black out but we’ve got people at the bottom to help you if you do.†Riku explained to me.

I sighed, might as well. I didn’t need to think about who would miss me if something happened, I didn’t have anyone. I took a deep breath and flung myself out over the cliff. As I fell, it felt like someone was pulling at me. Suddenly, though, I blacked out.

Merlin nodded and thanked him before continuing.

"The worlds keep the balance by making equal measures of light and darkness. This cycle has existed for thousands of years but 16 years ago, on a world called Wyvren's Court, a dictator, assassinated the current Diente, or king. He took over the world and stopped the flow of light and darkness, thus creating what we know as nobodies. Then he let the darkness flow, creating heartless. Then he did something unheard of....he combined them. Now theoretically if they were combined it would create a person but we were wrong. They are humans but just barely. They teeter on the brink of oblivion. Their emotions were taken and, as you have already experienced have a horrible look and smell about them. They fight to the equivalent of ten men, but don't lose heart. There are ways to defeat them. Aye, slashing them with a blade with 'kill' them but they will just send more. However on a far off world you will find swords, forged in the hottest fires and hammered out by the finest men. They are called Sakkiri and will vanquish these terrible foes just as good as the keyblades will. When you are ready to begin your journey then you can go down to the market and meet Leon, you will know hi when you see him. He will give you a ship and provisions. May the Light shine on your paths."

Merlin disappeared in a poof of smoke.

Vaahg had been using his brain to absorb the English and had almost mastered it."Who are you people? Why are we here? Excuse me if I am rude but I cannot take any chances. You all are a good three years ahead of me and if something were to happen then...." He let his sentence trail off, getting a feel for the new language.

"Aww well I ran over here, I should be able to walk back. Plus, I was supposed to be discharged today anyway, the only hard part was taking out the I.V."
He held out his hand which had a small bruised hole from where the I.V. was extracted.
