alright . thanks for making the patch dude . your a life savor . i dont own a ps3 . i own a xbox 360 . and i have 2 ps2s .but this is great for people that dont have a ps3 nice work so far . may i help with this by any way ? can i be a beta tester or something ? May i ? and mabey we can make a new website or something like that.

Some more progress with Message files: My tools work! View attachment 36230 I can see I need to fix the sysfont again, re-align some characters; and also find the command code to make text smaller width-wise (there was one in KH2, many codes are shared so far...).
As a plus, my tools can make a file smaller the Square's. Their Japanese RAW file ("extracted" BIN file) is 8.67kb, my English one is 9.18kb; their BIN file (the game uses this) is 3.35kb, mine is 3.24kb. This only works if the same text is included multiple times, however.
This is the last text file in the menu folder (that has a name), so this might be the end of the easy stuff for a bit. Too bad only the journal has nice files like this. -.-

So I'm going to post what I have so far:
Updated my FM String mapper to v1.1 (Added a few more characters, mainly smart quotes): http://crazycatz00.x10host.com/KH/string mapping KH1.html
Got the Kanji.knj font working perfectly: http://crazycatz00.x10host.com/KH/files/mod_FinalMixEnglishFonts.7z It uses the same character codes as the sysfont.bin font, so my string mapper will work on both fine.
And finally I have translated the Ansem reports:

Yeah but it's pre-rendered, the actual live rendered cutscene data are present on disc. There's a couple more too, like the small cutscenes you see on the credits, their event data is present on the disc, with the right value set you can trigger them. There is also data for the Dream Drop Distance early footage scenes, it misses alot of stuff, like the actual levels but you can actually watch them on a black area and Sora, Riku and the rest will be doing the animations as seen on the trailer, think of them like the trailer, just rendered on a black area. Also the cutscene of Sora and Riku as kids on the Main Island shore in the night is present and last but not least, the Black Points cutscene of Sora sleeping on the insland and Kairi running to wake him up is there too, that's ctually rendered on a PSP, I found the animation data of Kairi running and Sora sleeping.

I really hate myself right now, I found the code like almost 2 years ago and now I lost it. Shame on me really :(

Not really. There are actualy ALOT more events/cutscenes/parts than the ones accessible in Trinity Report. The one I did on the first JAP version of the game triggered an unused cutscene that was only shown on the E3 trailer. There was also a beta cutscene of Ven and Master Xehanort on Olympus Coliseum with missing audio (subtitles were there though). It's just that it's been a long time and I lost the code that was triggering them and I can't find it again. There was also one on FM that was rendering real time (not pre-rendered) Aqua watching at Castle Of Dreams inside the Realm Of Darkness after the fight in Secret Ending. There's gotta be somebody that knows which address is responsible of what cutscene you are about to watch.

For the castle of dreams in the realm in Darkness that was a Cutsceen in FM after u defect Red Eye and it said Bjrth By sleep Vulome 2

Well, there are two ways to interpret it. By the same "size", they can mean same X by Y (a low quality texture can be 256x256 just as a higher quality version of it can be), which would seem odd but believable, or they mean that they're the same file-size (two files that are both 200 kilobytes in size).

I'd like to believe that they are just higher resolution versions of the textures rather than a straight copy-paste from PS2 to PS3, but I don't know; I don't have the game myself to compare.

Well for the ps3 version of KHFM . They used kh3d models imstead I the ps2 version . I personal hate K H3D models my selfs

It's not possible to get Sora to DW like Roxas does. It dosen't matter if they are "techincally" the same. It dosen't matter because there is no animation in the game to replicate that effect for Sora. If you would try to give Sora Roxas animation you would get a mushball.

It is however possible to get Sora to DW but NOT how Roxas does it.

no because roxas stance is completely different from soras, plus their a.i. is wut causes their stances to be different, each character has their own a.i. in the game and their a.i. is wut make then do wut they do in the game and I don't think there is a way to mod their a.i. to give them each other stance i.e. roxas and sora.=/

Why ? Technically Roxas has the same stance as sora cuz techincally Roxas is Sora. So I do think it is possible . U guys made Sora DW and someone eles said it was impossible

We'll get this into English one way or another. I asked on a hacking forum if they could help with the font, and I'm still going at it myself.
As for helping, there's not much you can do if you can't program or reverse engineer in some way. Even changing the text requires hex-editing for now. Maybe once we actually get some things really rolling, you can play-test and such; look for bugs in the translation or the game.

That does remind me, though: How are we going to distribute the patch, when we're at that stage? If we do the ISO as a whole, then it would be outright illegal. PPF-O-Matic maybe?

Yes PPF Patch would do the trick . Mabey we could Make a own website and I could test the game before reading the patch . So instead of real sing the download link here . We should PM on here the download link and test it before officially relase the patch

So ya.... this kanji font is killing me.
As far as I can tell, it's not like textures in models. Models look like they use pallet images, but I'm pretty sure the font doesn't. The fonts are normally just grayscale pixel data, and the game colors it on-the-fly as it needs to. In addition, I was able to pull this out using TexMod (it modifies DirectX textures), to have an idea what the English kanji.knj looks like: View attachment 36093 This would be the top of the font, with an artifact from the title screen on the corner there.
