I, literally, could not give less of a shit how his name is spelled.
The issues there include the fact that we're going to be looking at Scarlett Johansson, as she's getting called "Motoko Kusanagi", in a Japanese setting, surrounded by Japanese characters, a majority of which are actually played by Asian actors who if they aren't actually Japanese can pass off as Japanese. And that we have quite a few good Asian actresses for the role available. My personal choice being Rinko Kikuchi: she already looked quite a bit like Kusanagi in Pacific Rim. Spoiler I'm not against changing races of characters in every situation, but this just speaks to me that they don't want to put faith in the actual film and would rather have a big name actress be the main focus when she just does not fit into the context and there are better actresses who could use the exposure that Scarlett just does not need anymore. Also THEY ACTUALLY TRIED MAKING WHITE ACTORS ASIAN THIS ACTUALLY HAPPENED.
Luxord never brought up Justin Beiber's personal life...
Or if you just want to relive it @libregkd The Super Best Friends are streaming it now
I absolutely love the designs of the EVAs, especially Unit-01. I like how the series goes through a bunch of different tones and gives a really good sense of atmosphere, with the beginning being more action-based, the middle being a bit more light-hearted, and the end being very suspenseful and grim. People hate Shinji and I understand why. He's not the heroic type by a long shot; he's to me what a teenager with abandonment issues and little self-confidence would act like in the situations he's put into. He does things that many people watching would disagree with and call him out on, and other characters do call him out on stuff. Something about his struggle to find self-worth and interact with people resonates strongly with me. I found it kind of similar to Simon from Gurren Lagann, except with a lot less bombast and positivity. Beyond Shinji, many other characters show various personalities that I feel I haven't seen enough (or done well) in anime: inferiority complexes that don't go overboard but instead feel grounded, being cold to other people but not for any dark-edge reason that would come off as silly, being overprotective of someone but for understandable reasons given the world's situation, etc. There are no perfect characters: everyone has some sort of human flaw to them. The animation I found was really good with what budget issues the original anime had, with Neon Genesis having some of the greatest uses of still frames I've ever seen in animation. The Rebuild movies (that is 1.11 and 2.22...I don't have kind words for 3.33) are gorgeous, though 1.11 is basically the exact same events as Neon Genesis in less time, with 2.22 starting to deviate. I like the post-apocalyptic-but-still-functioning world. The core message of the series is a very important one to me, and unfortunately some people lose it due to some of the more mind-fuck imagery, especially in End of Evangelion, which is understandable. I do NOT recommend watching only Neon Genesis: I feel like you have to watch End of Evangelion as well to really get it. If I had to make a comic book allegory: Evangelion is to the mecha anime genre what Watchmen is to the superhero comic book genre. Is it pretentious? I guess it could be construed that way, and I don't care to argue against that because it's a meaningless differentiation to me. I just liked watching it because it made me care about the characters and their stakes more than many other anime because I felt for the characters as people.
So much.
Yeah no it's not going to happen. Evangelion is the most divisive thing I've ever seen in anime. You're either on board with it or not. I'll add that it's actually a very simple message throughout the series that isn't anywhere near as complicated as people make it out to be but if just watching it doesn't make you like it I doubt anything I do will.
Karen is incredibly likable and shows a lot of different dimensions. Elektra is a bitch or is remorseful, pick one.
I love the look except the arms, but I'm really liking how the film is looking in general. Anno does fantastic directing, even if Evangelion 3.33 was a mess in writing.
I have finally succeeded in hooking a certain friend on Fullmetal Alchemist: Brotherhood after about five years of myself and others attempting to do the very same task. I'm so very happy that she likes it a lot.
Spoiler: SO here's Scarlett Johansson as Motoko Kusanagi (protagonist of "Ghost in the Shell") Source
Spoiler It's weird to me how hard it seems for live-action to get Elektra right. Like I think the Netflix series finally did it well basically when she got her final costume, but then what happened happened and that was the end of the season. I'm not sure how she's treated in the comics outside knowing that she was created by Frank Miller but all I know about her arc is that she dies to make Matt feel conflicted about stuff
Spoiler Black Sky I think is supposed to be the title the master of The Hand. I believe it's a reference to something from the Marvel comics: a person killed by The Hand and resurrected under their control. I don't believe there's a correlation between The Hand and Frank Castle. It felt like two seasons stitched into one. I never got the feeling that Foggy and Karen were going to be a thing honestly (Foggy's got that one blonde girl around still), but Matt and...anyone, doesn't feel that good either. Hell if I know what that hole is for. Some people speculate it's more resurrection stuff, or it's in connection to Roxxon, a big corporation in the Marvel comics universe, usually villainous. I dunno. I wasn't aware Karen had much backstory beyond what happened in Season One Yeah....yeah... Elektra was handled poorly to me. I feel like I would have liked her a lot if she made sparing appearances, but we got way too much. Yes shrug I think this season could have been better if they cut Elektra's stuff down to a quarter of what we got, they actually explained the Black Sky, and there was some ANY interaction between Frank and Elektra. That absence cements to me that this season was two different storylines stuck together. I still enjoyed it, but it's a low 8, maybe 7.5 where Season One was like a 9.25 (still hated his first DD helmet.)
A fan of just about everything so far except for Will Smith being literally the same character he is in every other film, and Joker Leto having the Damaged tattoo still.
I'm going to use this later thank you
So you're pro-sandwich, anti-dismantlement?
Context: Spoiler I stand with Pat, except he shows disdain for mustard.
I was honestly skeptical about Suicide Squad until the Bohemian Rhapsody trailer. Batman v Superman, can't say I ever had high hopes sadly.
I guess I'm just used to people being less intellectual about their generalizations is all. I'm just specific about words is all, my bad.
