Re-listening while doing stupid assignments. I'll post this in groups: I don't really see an issue with there being an anime being released. I can understand the HEAVY tone of skepticism, but only to a certain extent. Plenty of video game companies have done weird spinoff side projects, or varying types of media to compliment or add to a game/expansion being released. I get that some people don't want money/time going to an anime, instead they want those things to be put into the game, but you cannot know if that would be utilized in the best way possible. The way I see it is if these devs/people on the team(s) think that making an anime would be a cool thing to do, then more power to them. I HIGHLY doubt that it will leech off of the game's resources too heavily (or the story for that matter). Also side note, you guys keep implying that some things being in an anime/movie would mean that it CAN'T also be in the game as well. That's not correct at all. I am sure you all are aware of this, I just recommend not drinking too much of that skepticism kool-aid. I feel like a lot of judgement is being cast down onto this game solely because its taken God knows how long to be released, which while it is understandable, that doesn't mean that every choice they make is to compensate for that waiting period. Maybe while working on the game they said to themselves "hey this sounds like a good idea" and went from there, instead of making all of these things as a way to not "anger the fans". If this is how people are looking at this game, anime, movie, etc before it is even out, I don't expect it to get any semblance of a fair rating. I also think people are playing up the 10 year wait thing a little much. Don't get me wrong, when a game gets announced and then it either doesn't come out or takes a long time to come out, then that sucks. However, unless all of you literally do nothing with your lives (which I know to be not true) then the "wait" isn't as bad as you may think. That time was filled with other things, not only other media/games by square but just real life stuff. I don't expect this game to do well if we keep weighing every choice made by the devs against the "10 years". The only relevant factor when it comes to game development time is the actual time spent waiting. As we have seen in the past, certain games that have taken 5-10 years to come out can very well be just the worst thing ever. Hell this is half the reason I never expect Half Life 3 to come out, because no matter what game valve puts out with that name, the fans are never going to be satisfied because they either judge it unrealistically, or expect some form of crazy compensation for their "waiting time". I agree 100% about Nick's frame rate point. While I am concerned that there are graphical "issues" AND weird frame rate, I am more than willing to settle for 30 instead of 60, but only if it is stable. Don't know if their optimization is just god awful, or it is the consoles "less than stellar" hardware, but I hope they at least get a stable frame rate as that is generally more important than crazy good graphics.
Not news at all, this happens at night specifically when no staff are online. Once it gets past a certain time the "New Profile Post" section is filled to the brim with bots. This has been happening for quite a long time if I can recall. I just never bother mentioning anything about it because at some point either in the night or in the morning it gets resolved.
>when you come home after a long day of work and Amaury is fixing your calandar
All I was talking about was the "now" though. I understand that buying consoles (or anything really) over and over again is a gigantic pain in the ashe, not to mention a burden on one's finances. Strictly speaking on the current prices/options, the safest bet is to go with buying a new PS2 when needed. Refurbishing can be meh (personal opinion), and emulating can get expensive/unstable.
This is implying that such a section doesn't already exist in the first place within the various staff section(s). Fact of the matter is (and this is just my opinion), this would only be really useful for any kind of serious bug, which if that is the case the last thing the staff probably want is people trying to reproduce potentially dangerous bugs. I feel like the current staff team is more than capable of handling the site (including bug testing). The idea itself wouldn't be bad, but I can't imagine the site benefiting from this all that much, heck if anything it might lead to problems. Keeping a section dedicated to bugs in the site is asking for trouble, or at the very least making it all too easy for those who might wish to harm the site. So if important/dangerous bugs wouldn't be posted it would only really be a section filled with screenshots of MINOR graphical issues, which to be frank doesn't warrant another section/subsection. Just my opinion tho.
I mean, I don't know your reasoning for going for 10 in the first place. I know that some people buy prebuilt computers with 10 on there, so that isn't an issue or anything. I guess people like to mix it up or something along those lines, but in all my years of working with computers I have found stability and compatibility (as well as ease of use) to be pretty much all that matters. Unless its a stylistic personal preference, then I have no idea why people would want to switch in the first place. Of course I understand that everybody is different, but these issues aren't new. I remember all the people who were super pissed about going from XP to Vista, and that is the reason I generally tend to hesitate when it comes to upgrading any form of Microsoft OS. Just kinda thinking out loud tho, not trying to be a doooouche. I'm not a Rocket Surgeron, but 50 dollars per two years isn't a bad deal at all. That is less than $0.07 per day. Which won't work if $0.07 per day is too expensive for him. Emulating PS2 on PC is more power hungry than some might believe. This is especially true if you want a decent framerate at his resolution of choice. I am not saying it is impossible, just not the most efficient use of his money. Then there is the whole legal grey area thing.
This isn't Google.
Then if it isn't a compatibility issue due to some overlapping cause, then I would say it is either: your iso, the patches themselves, or some form of human error.
Yeah it is a bit silly for someone to think that other people being able to enjoy "X" would "ruin their fun." However feelings rarely ever go hand in hand with logic, not that I am supporting their opinions, merely their right to have it. It is important to keep in mind that those are fighting to keep "casuals" out of any game are generally in it for their own "ego" / self esteem.
It is always good to make sure that the ISO you are using is compatible. Sometimes you will find that certain rips are of varying different sizes, compression rates, etc. It should also be noted that doing any sort of "mod" to a game file can be tricky when using multiple mods/patches at the same time. They can sometimes interfere with each other. However, since I have no actual experience with the specific thing you are talking about, I can only give you generalized advice. Good luck.
I feel like people overestimate the significance of the difficulty of the Souls games on both ends of the spectrum. What I mean by this is, while a lower difficulty might make the game seem better or easier to approach to a different variety of fans, at the end of the day it is only a might. Sure it probably wouldn't hurt its numbers, but it wouldn't make me buy it or finish any of the Souls game(s) (even tho I have like maybe two of them if that). The difficulty isn't the make or break factor. I have played games that are butt puckeringly difficult, but that doesn't make them fun or not. It is just an attribute of that game, which is why I don't really play those games. It isn't my cup of tea, and a difficulty change wouldn't make a difference, at least with me. I can only really speak for myself. Maybe the game devs/community wants it to be like some super secret private club, and hell if that is what they are after, go for it. I don't see a problem with an "exclusive" game, in the same sense that I don't have any issue with games that are something anybody can play with ease. At the end of the day, if the game devs want to choose tradition over potential sales numbers, there is nothing wrong with that as it is their call. Not saying you said any of that, and also not trying to put words in anyone's mouth. Just giving the good ol' $0.02
I'm terrified that me spending the next 5-6 years pursuing medicine won't be enough to help provide for my future family.
If I recall back in the day when I first heard about this site there was some form of limitation put on guests as to how many posts they could see (horrible memory could be kicking in so I apologize if this is laughably inaccurate), but at the time I thought it was rather annoying and that just sped up my sign up time. With that in mind, I don't really see a benefit from limiting "guests" from seeing any sort of normal forum posts. If you (you meaning anyone reading this) wants to disclose private information to members of the forum, there are things like Skype or PMs if you want to go that route. This just seems like one of those added features that would only be added "just because", which I am not a fan of. I also don't understand why you would post ANYTHING to a public forum and expect there to be any ability to keep it totally private, even PMs or Skype messages can be copy pasted, or read through other less legal means. I respect the desire to keep certain things private, but a plugin or addition to the site won't do that for you. Self control or speaking/typing with discretion on the other hand, that works really well.
Great podcast, sorry for not offering to be on (not that any of you need me, but showing interest is helpful) been super busy with school / invading Canada. Should be a good listen while I finish my schoolwork.
Using a word without knowing the meaning or context behind it is such a good idea /s But yeah I feel you
I totally understand the context of this post and that it's either just satirical or fishing for reactions, but sweet baby Jesus batman, this shiet tilts me off the face of the earth. The whole screamo thing is ridiculous. Hell you don't see people calling bands like Boston or Led Zeppelin "singo." So I really don't understand why people feel the need to call it that. Call me sensitive or whatever because I actually play in certain genres that have screaming, but to be honest most musical ignorance tilts me so hard. I'm not the biggest rap or country fan but it gets annoying when I hear people discredit those genres without even attempting to look into them for more than half a second. I've tried both and am not the biggest fan of either, but there are some rappers I don't mind. Tbh tho, when was the last time that demanding respect for anything worked on the majority of people. Some people just don't care and they don't have a reason to care, so why change. Meh
Can't help but feel that square (over the years that KH has even existed) has been stretching themselves thin, at least in terms of all the different platforms KH has been on. I understand that some titles are more important than others, and that nobody "has to" play any of the games, but it just gets tiring to be honest. I guess it's hard to be hyped for a game series that has bounced all over the place for the past however many years it has been. Don't get me wrong, I'm looking forward to KH3 / whatever decimal point they come up with next, I'm just thinking out loud I suppose.
We need more of this ^
I like how Square is finally making a game the way we've been asking them too. A pseudo Green Day looking party going on a bro trip with magic swords is basically all I need in life.
Final Fantasy 15, bitch.
