Took the time out of my Saturday off from work to make some Avatars/Icons and most of them are from this danbooru user and some other posts from danbooru. These are basically Marvel and DC comics, and I really like the art style. You should check it out. ;] Oh, and as some of you know, I'm a senior in highschool, which means that I'm applying for colleges. I was actually accepted for admissions in King's College of Charlotte, which is really great if you ask me, and I think I might go there for Graphic Design. I use Adobe Photoshop CS4 Extended, and I know what to do, before you start explaining it to me. I just am too lazy to get up and go transparent, and I'm not very good at it. Some stocks are too complicated, like the one you suggested to cut out without the white lines around it, and that drives me crazy. .-.
They had something like this in Wonderworks, where the windows fogged up and everything and you couldn't see inside, but the shadows from outside you can still see. ...I used the bathroom in there with the windows fogged. >: I really had to go!

For the Manga, I basically was playing with the colors, not really doing anything to them. I was experimenting, and seeing what looked good to everyone. And the avatars; I like the blank background more then trying to transparent-izing them, since it would bring more eye contact to the subject, and it's really hard to cut out some of the subjects, and I'm lazy. ._.

For October everyone's name should be changed to something horror themed. Just in spirit for Halloween. o;
These are really nice, I like the concept so far. Of course, the brightness is a bit of a distraction. Maybe if you added more contrast in the blacks, it would make it pop a little more. The only problem I have is with the first one, the grainy affect you have on it. I hate grainy affects for some reason, it just kinda screams at me bad quality, honestly. .-. That's just my opinion though. Good job, though. Keep going, dear. I want to see more from you. <3
